That Girl Who Skipped Class — You're In Big Trouble! - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Yajiang Barbecue was located across the river from A University. It was just past 8:00 PM, and the nighttime crowd for barbecue hadn’t fully arrived yet, so the many tables placed by the river were not completely occupied. Xiao Xuan parked the car and saw An Qianyang sitting at a table closer to the river, staring blankly at a small pot of decorative flowers on the table.
“Well, let’s order,” Xiao Xuan sat down, took the menu handed to her by a waiter, and began to read it seriously.
An Qianyang unconsciously looked at the fair nose bridge of Xiao Xuan, who was ordering opposite her. She watched as Xiao Xuan casually tucked a strand of dark hair behind her ear.
“Do you eat beef?” Xiao Xuan suddenly looked up, her two black, sparkling gems of eyes fixed on her.
This look caught An Qianyang off guard. She immediately felt her face flush up to her ears and timidly said, “Anything… is fine. I eat everything.”
“Eh, isn’t this Yangyang? What are you doing here? Teacher… Xiao?!” A hand suddenly rested on An Qianyang’s shoulder. She turned her head and saw it was An Dong.
“I’m here to eat. Why are you here?”
“Hi, having a gathering with some senior students from the student union, over there.” An Dong pointed to the table diagonally across from them. Five or six boys were chatting happily, with seven or eight bottles of beer scattered on the table.
“Your classmate?” Xiao Xuan glanced at An Dong and casually asked.
“Yes, the class monitor of our class.”
“Hello, Teacher Xiao, I’m An Dong from the Art and Design department, Yangyang’s classmate. Don’t you remember me? I took your elective course last semester,” An Dong said with a smile. “Yangyang, when did you become so close to Teacher Xiao?”
“Does it concern you?” An Qianyang glared at An Dong and said to Xiao Xuan, “Um, you order first.”
An Dong looked around: “Why isn’t Li Chenchen here today? Are you two still having a spat?”
“Stop it. Go play by yourself,” An Qianyang pushed An Dong.
Xiao Xuan smiled while looking at the menu: “It’s fine. He’s one of my students. An Dong, right? It’s okay for us to eat together.” Seeing this, An Dong happily ran over to greet his senior students and then sat down next to An Qianyang: “Teacher Xiao, I won’t stand on ceremony then.”
Xiao Xuan smiled, finished ordering, and handed the menu to the waiter, looking at the gloomy An Qianyang.
“You two have a good relationship, don’t you? I envy you.”
“Yeah, we often hung out together right after starting university. Back then, when Li Chenchen was pursuing Yangyang, I helped out a lot. But ever since they started dating, they rarely paid attention to me,” An Dong said, glancing at An Qianyang.
“Oh? How did he pursue her? I’d love to hear,” Xiao Xuan propped her chin on her hands, feigning annoyance.
An Qianyang was annoyed: “It was ages ago. Don’t talk about it.”
“Yangyang, it’s not a big deal. What’s wrong with telling Teacher Xiao? Li Chenchen and she were childhood sweethearts. Apparently, Chenchen chose this school just for Yangyang. In the first year, Chenchen bought Yangyang fruit and picked up her deliveries every day…”
“An Dong, that’s enough!” An Qianyang shouted loudly.
An Dong was startled. He scratched his head and said to Xiao Xuan: “Teacher Xiao, well, how did you and Yangyang meet then? Did Yangyang upset the teacher in class? Yangyang is a nice person, aside from having a bit of a temper.”
“Hmm, temper… it is quite big, but I think it’s very cute, don’t you think, Yangyang?”
An Qianyang stammered, unable to speak. Just then, two large plates of barbecue were brought to the table. Xiao Xuan unwrapped the chopsticks and handed them to An Dong and An Qianyang: “The crucian carp here is good. Try it.”
An Dong ate the crucian carp while asking Xiao Xuan: “I heard Teacher Xiao studied abroad, is that right?”
“Yes. I remember in Australia, after work, a colleague and I rented a boat and went out to sea. We caught a tuna weighing over five catties (approx. 2.5 kg). We split it in half, took it home, cooked and ate it. The taste was quite different from this little fish,” Xiao Xuan said, playfully sticking out her tongue.
“Australia? Yangyang, didn’t you just go to Australia for a vacation this summer?”
“Yes. My dad just opened a hotel in Cairns. He said he knows you,” An Qianyang spat out a bone, pretending to speak casually.
“What is your father’s name?”
“An Zixiang.”
Xiao Xuan was momentarily stunned, then showed a thoughtful expression: “Uncle An, ah, I know him…”
…
After dinner, An Dong said goodbye to An Qianyang and Xiao Xuan and went to catch up with his seniors. Xiao Xuan drove An Qianyang back to her apartment complex. They walked out of the garage together.
“Alright, go back and rest early,” Xiao Xuan stood by the elevator, turning to An Qianyang, whose expression looked uncomfortable. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m fine. I just feel like a fish bone is stuck in my throat,” An Qianyang frowned and started coughing.
“Let me see.” Xiao Xuan pulled An Qianyang under the light and gently cupped her chin with one hand.
Under the dim light, An Qianyang felt a face slowly getting closer, and the familiar scent of perfume wafted into her nose.
“Open your mouth wider. It’s too dark here.” An Qianyang opened her mouth wide, looking at Xiao Xuan’s lowered eyelashes. Suddenly, she felt the hand release her.
“No, I can’t see it. How about this, you come to my place first, and I’ll help you get it out. Otherwise, it’s going to be very uncomfortable stuck there.”
Xiao Xuan’s apartment was on the 25th floor. An Qianyang stood in the entrance, quietly observing. Not far away, there was a small dining table on the brown wooden floor, holding a bouquet of narcissus in a slender glass vase. A few steps up from the dining table, there was a beige bean bag sofa, with a few messy jackets piled on it.
Xiao Xuan walked over from the kitchen, a flashlight clipped between her teeth, holding a spoon and a pair of tweezers in her hands. She handed the spoon to An Qianyang, signaling her to press the spoon onto the back of her tongue.
Five minutes later, the tweezers were withdrawn from An Qianyang’s mouth, clutching a fish bone.
“I should have known not to take you for fish. You little one are so much trouble,” Xiao Xuan let out a big sigh of relief, took a bottle of mineral water from the nearby refrigerator, and handed it to An Qianyang.
“Come in. Want to rest for a bit before leaving?”
An Qianyang walked into the living room while drinking water and sat down on the sofa. A rug was spread next to the sofa, with a few books and unfinished notes on it. She casually asked, “Do teachers still need to study?”
Xiao Xuan sat down beside her: “A teacher’s duties are much heavier than those of a university student.”
An Qianyang felt the warmth radiating from Xiao Xuan. She found that her heart, which had been anxious all evening, began to pound. Finally, as if having made up her mind, she turned to look at Xiao Xuan.
“Actually, there’s something I’ve wanted to confirm these past two days.”
“What is it?” The dark eyes looked at her in confusion.
An Qianyang suddenly lifted her head, wrapped her arms around Xiao Xuan, and kissed her.
“Mmm…” Xiao Xuan was caught off guard by the kiss. She felt the girl’s lips and tongue, dominant yet clumsy, mixed with a sweet, fruity flavor, slowly teasing, and exploring deeper…
She was about to push An Qianyang away, but found that the other person had already let go and was panting to the side, a blush spreading across her face.
“You…”
“I have to go. I have plans tonight.” An Qianyang dashed out, fleeing the room in less than 5 seconds.
