That Girl Who Skipped Class — You're In Big Trouble! - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
An Qianyang grew inexplicably nervous as the number of students around Xiao Xuan dwindled.
“Teacher Xiao, we’re leaving now.” Two students walked out the classroom door, books tucked under their arms. An Qianyang moistened her slightly dry throat and looked towards the podium. Only one girl was left, asking about the course schedule, and Xiao Xuan was patiently answering, holding her laptop with both hands.
Forget it, next time.
An Qianyang quickly grabbed her shoulder bag from the seat and hurried towards the door. Just as she reached the exit, a clear voice called out to her.
“An Qianyang, come here for a moment.”
What? Xiao Xuan actually knew her name? An Qianyang turned around, tightened the strap of her bag on her shoulder, and slowly walked over.
Seeing the situation, the other girl quickly thanked Xiao Xuan and left the classroom.
Xiao Xuan looked at An Qianyang, who was wearing a fitted black tank top, revealing her fair waist. The sunlight from outside shone through the window onto her collarbone, and the fine down on her long, chestnut wavy hair was clearly visible.
“Do… do you need something?” An Qianyang asked.
“I still haven’t thanked you for what happened last time.”
“I hope I never encounter something like that again.”
“Exactly, so I really must compensate you,” Xiao Xuan pursed her lips. “A new barbecue restaurant opened across from the school. I heard their crucian carp is quite good. How about I treat you to dinner tonight?”
An Qianyang’s peripheral vision caught the movement of Xiao Xuan’s lipstick-coated lips. She cleared her throat feigning seriousness: “I eat a lot. I won’t pay.”
“It’s fine, my treat.”
Xiao Xuan took out her phone and handed it to An Qianyang: “Leave me your number. I have a few more classes, and I’ll call you at 7 PM.”
An Qianyang left her number, turned, and exited the classroom. On the way back to the apartment, she kept thinking about Xiao Xuan’s earnest face looking at her. That woman actually wanted to treat her to a meal? Did she think one meal was enough to settle the previous incident? Or did she have some kind of interest in her? Maybe she just happened to want barbecue but couldn’t find anyone suitable?
Besides, she stopped when Xiao Xuan told her to stop, gave her the number when asked, and accepted the dinner invitation without even saying no.
It turns out she, the high-and-mighty An Qianyang, was this easy to manipulate.
The more she thought, the more flustered and confused she became. When she got home, she plunged under the covers, intending to catch up on sleep, but found she couldn’t fall asleep at all.
Damn it.
…
An Qianyang crawled out of bed and felt for her phone next to her pillow. It was already 6:30 PM. There were 5 missed calls from Li Chenchen and one unfamiliar text message. She ignored the missed calls and opened the text.
“I’m almost done. I’ll wait for you at Apartment Exit 2 at 7 PM.”
An Qianyang put on light makeup, threw on a denim jacket, and hurried downstairs. From afar, she saw Xiao Xuan standing at the apartment exit. A black Beetle was parked nearby. Slim high heels, a red dress, tall and slender, like a leaf that could be blown away by a breeze.
“Let’s go,” An Qianyang shoved her hands into her pockets. “I have plans tonight. If we eat early, I can still go out and play for a while.”
“It’s Monday today, so it’s not very congested right now,” Xiao Xuan steered the wheel with one hand while flipping her hair. “We’ll go early; parking is difficult over there.”
“So, do you know what happened with the drugging incident now?”
“It’s been resolved. A senior student was behind it; the situation was quite complicated,” Xiao Xuan said, turning to look at An Qianyang. “I’m truly sorry, and I feel very guilty.”
“Do you think something like that can be compensated for with one meal?”
“Something is better than nothing, right?” Xiao Xuan sighed softly. “I’ve always wanted to ask you. You don’t seem like such an enthusiastic person. Why did you take a complete stranger home that night?”
“Because of the perfume you wear. Not many people use that kind of perfume. Anyway… it didn’t smell like the perfume a bad person would use.”
“Huh? Does perfume also have different tiers?”
An Qianyang didn’t say anything, and the atmosphere immediately fell into a slightly awkward silence.
“How about we listen to some music?”
“Mhm.”
Xiao Xuan turned on the stereo and swiped her phone. Music flowed out—”Lillian” by Song Dongye. An Qianyang felt her tense body slowly relax.
It was almost dusk. An Qianyang tilted her head and watched Xiao Xuan holding the steering wheel with both hands. Streaks of sunlight from the setting sun outside the car window passed over her profile, constantly pausing at her slender nose tip, casting dark shadows beneath her eyes.
“Far away from here, there is a beach The lonely person is on the sea sailing the boat
If you see her return to the shore Please tell her Your name, my name Lillian”
For a moment, she was utterly mesmerized.
