That Girl Who Skipped Class — You're In Big Trouble! - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
By the time Xiao Ting’s girlfriend arrived, the sky outside the window was already dark. Xiao Xuan cooked several homemade dishes to treat her. Perhaps because their relationship was still new, Xiao Ting behaved very well and sensibly, completely unlike his usual mischievous and spoiled self. On the table were sweet and sour pork ribs, fried potato slices, stir-fried greens, Coke chicken wings, and seaweed and vermicelli soup. Xiao Xuan hadn’t cooked for a long time and was a little anxious at first, but seeing Xiao Ting and his girlfriend eating happily, she relaxed and quietly ate a few mouthfuls of rice.
Xiao Xuan had seen many of Xiao Ting’s girlfriends. The well-behaved girl in front of her was completely different from the usual type he brought home. The girl, with her straight bangs and short hair, would glance at Xiao Ting after every couple of bites and answered Xiao Xuan’s questions very earnestly, her tone somewhat shy. If An Qingyang were sitting here, she probably wouldn’t be so obedient; she would definitely drive her crazy. Thinking of this, Xiao Xuan’s head started aching again. She endured the discomfort, chatted with Xiao Ting for a while, and then went back to the bedroom to rest.
“Your sister is both beautiful and poised. She’s… not quite like you,” the girl turned her head and whispered to Xiao Ting after Xiao Xuan entered the room.
“Are you saying she’s better looking than me? Impossible,” Xiao Ting pouted, leaning his head close to the girl’s face, almost touching her. “Come on, touch. I’m genuine young fresh meat. I can surely outshine all the boys in your department without plastic surgery, right?”
“Hehe,” the girl covered her mouth and chuckled, gossiping: “She must have many admirers, right? Is she not married yet?”
Xiao Ting’s playful expression suddenly turned serious: “She was close to getting married once, but it fell through.”
The girl’s mouth dropped open. Just as she was about to ask more, Xiao Ting reached out and pinched her arm, asking seriously: “Do you mind if my sister finds a sister-in-law for our family in the future?”
…
Lying in bed, listening to the laughter outside in the living room, Xiao Xuan recalled many things: the past that made her strong, painful, and brave. She had always disliked dwelling in sadness, but today she allowed herself to. She began to recall how she had let An Qingyang step by step into her life—so simple and intense, allowing no defense against her. She broke through the high wall Xiao Xuan had built, stirring up a storm inside, and then ran away so quickly. By the time Xiao Xuan snapped out of it, she realized a piece of her heart was already empty.
An Qingyang, what should I do with you?
…
She had arrived, less than a month after returning home, buying a plane ticket during the holiday to see her. Perhaps she was too anxious; she even forgot to bring the gift she had prepared. Rushing up to the small building where the two of them once lived, she expertly opened the door, placed the key on the cabinet by the door, and went to push open the half-closed bedroom door, but she closed it immediately after pushing.
There were two people inside. Eileen was sitting on the dressing table by the bed, a man’s hands wrapped around her neck, and Eileen’s legs wrapped around his waist.
She stood in the living room for a minute, her right hand already drawing blood from her fingernails digging in, and she could even taste blood in her mouth. But she didn’t run. She wouldn’t allow herself to be weak. She wanted to tear everything into shreds herself.
Eileen came out, looking at her, not with guilt, but with pity: “I didn’t let you down. You were the one who let me down first.”
“What are you talking about?!”
Eileen looked at her face, which was forcibly suppressing anger and contorted with stiffness: “Xuán Xuán, I knew you were coming back today. I did it on purpose to make you angry. You hurt me so much. If I don’t get back at you a little, I can’t let it go.”
“I don’t understand what you’re saying!” Xiao Xuan roared.
Eileen smiled, a trace of tenderness showing on her face: “Didn’t my brother spend 200,000 to buy off all your feelings for me? I’m angry, but I can’t do anything about it, so I can only vent my anger.”
Xiao Xuan sneered: “That’s what your brother told you?”
Eileen didn’t answer, murmuring: “I knew you would do this. If I were you, I would do the same. So, I’m very angry, but I don’t blame you. I can only try to spite you a little.”
Xiao Xuan finally laughed, her stiff face regaining its animation: “Eileen, we’ve been together for nearly three years, and you actually thought that, and did something so childish. Well, you succeeded. We’re over.”
The man walked up to Eileen. Seeing Xiao Xuan bend down, her hands clenched into fists, he thought she was going to hit someone and quickly shielded Eileen. Xiao Xuan straightened up, grabbed the nearby suitcase, and rushed forward without looking back. The front door closed with a “Slam.”
“You… you’re just leaving like that? Don’t you want to explain to me? What were you really thinking?” Eileen stared blankly at the door, muttering to herself, tears welling up in her eyes.
Xiao Xuan rushed downstairs and hid in a patch of lush woods. She could no longer see the scenery in front of her; everything was so dim. She finally burst into tears.
What does heartbreak feel like? You’ll know that heartache is a physiological reaction.
