That Girl Who Skipped Class — You're In Big Trouble! - Chapter 28
Chapter 28
She was nervous, her crossed hands trembling, though only she knew it.
The person hadn’t arrived yet.
She touched the creases on the front of her work suit, unmoving. Inside the luxurious hotel room, the camel-colored curtains blocked the night outside, and the crystal chandelier on the ceiling cast a dazzling light. She glanced at the large bed, the snow-white bedding neatly and elegantly prepared by the hotel staff, with the check-in instructions placed precisely on the embroidered bed runner.
The sound of a card swiping the lock rang out. He had arrived. Her chin involuntarily tilted up slightly, and she pursed her lips.
“Xiao Xuan?” Cheng Fei closed the door. He was wearing a suit, his abdomen slightly protruding. His face was round, but his nose bridge was high, and his features faintly resembled Eileen’s.
Xiao Xuan nodded. She saw Cheng Fei smile and approach her. She wanted to step back, but she didn’t move.
“Haha, what are you doing? Little girl, you’re Eileen’s girlfriend. I’m not going to do anything to you.” A trace of pity flashed in Cheng Fei’s eyes. Xiao Xuan’s heart immediately chilled. She had always been skilled at hiding her emotions, but Cheng Fei seemed to see right through her with a single glance.
“I really need that money.”
“I know. Eileen keeps nagging me about it. As a brother, it’s my responsibility to solve problems for you two,” Cheng Fei said, handing her a card. “There’s 200,000 on it. That should be enough, right?”
Xiao Xuan took the card: “After I return home, I’ll find a way to pay you back.”
Cheng Fei waved his hand: “No need. Resolve your family’s difficulties soon and come back to be with Eileen sooner.”
Xiao Xuan’s slightly stiff voice softened: “Thank you.”
“I have a meeting soon. I’ll ask the driver to take you.”
“No, thank you. I have an appointment.” Xiao Xuan squeezed the card, feeling a bit more grateful in her heart. The door closed, and Cheng Fei left. Xiao Xuan walked into the bathroom to wash her face. She frowned slightly in the mirror, looking preoccupied.
Cheng Fei walked out of the hotel lobby and called Eileen: “Hahahaha, she agreed. 200,000. Didn’t I tell you? Silly sister, your girlfriend doesn’t care about you at all. I’ve seen many little girls like her; give them money, and they’ll do anything.”
…
“Sis, my girlfriend wants to come over for dinner today. Could you cook something for us?” Xiao Xuan and Xiao Ting had just returned from the hospital. Before Xiao Xuan could even change her slippers, Xiao Ting was already speaking next to her.
“The same one as before?” Xiao Xuan rubbed her still slightly dizzy head.
“No, I want to introduce you to her today.”
“I don’t feel like meeting anyone today.”
Xiao Ting’s face fell: “She’s already on her way. Don’t be like this.”
Xiao Xuan placed her coat on the sofa and sighed softly: “Fine. Then go downstairs and buy some groceries.”
Xiao Xuan took out a few bills from her bag and handed them to Xiao Ting. Xiao Ting pouted: “You’ve only known how to exploit me since we were little. Fine, for my girlfriend’s sake, you win.” He then left, leaving Xiao Xuan alone.
Xiao Xuan walked into the bedroom. They had left for the hospital in such a rush last night that the comforter hadn’t been folded; it lay messily piled on the bed. Just over 10 hours ago, she had slept right there, so deeply, that she could feel An Qingyang’s breath near her ear even through the blankets.
I don’t want to see you again. Didn’t she say those words herself? Once they were out, there was no possibility of taking them back. Was being understood really that important? Yes. Preferring to be misunderstood over arguing a single point, yet being so harsh to the person closest to her.
Xiao Xuan changed her clothes and looked at the beige sofa in the living room. During their second meeting, she had kissed her there. Her scent lingered on the sofa; she could even smell it now.
Xiao Xuan walked into the kitchen. An empty bowl sat on the counter. She had held that bowl yesterday: “I made tomato and egg drop soup. Have a little to eat.”
“The necklace I bought for you in Wuzhen is very cheap. Do you want to try it? I think it suits you perfectly.”
“I think I like you a little. Will you be my girlfriend?”
“Teacher Xiao, kiss me.” She hooked her neck, her face slowly getting closer.
She cried.
