That Girl Who Skipped Class — You're In Big Trouble! - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
The classroom was packed with a sea of people. Xiao Xuan set down her lesson plan and attendance roster, picked up her thermos cup, and took a sip of water. The students below the lecture platform were still whispering to each other. It was less than 5 minutes until class started.
She scanned the room. A large number of eyes looking at her instantly recoiled as if shocked.
Two figures slipped in through the back door and sat in the only two remaining seats in the back row. One of them had long chestnut hair. The hand holding the cup subtly twitched.
It was that little rascal! It had been over a week since their unpleasant parting, and they hadn’t contacted or seen each other. Her words last time must have been a bit harsh and had hurt her feelings.
Xiao Xuan glanced towards An Qianyang again, seeing her chatting with a classmate next to her. From afar, a smile hung on her mouth, as sweet as a child who had just been given candy.
Xiao Xuan checked her phone. Five minutes hadn’t passed yet.
She opened the slides and quickly reviewed the courseware. Her gaze fell on An Qianyang again. She hadn’t seemed to look up the whole time. The classmate next to her, however, showed a side profile: short hair, delicate features, T? Maybe. Or maybe not. What did it matter to her?
Xiao Xuan shifted her gaze. The moment her eyes met a boy in the front row, he immediately lowered his head, his ears turning red. Since he already looked, why be shy? Doesn’t An Qianyang stare at her directly all the time? Thinking this, Xiao Xuan turned her gaze to An Qianyang once more. The person next to her was leaning in to talk into her ear. The two were pressed close together.
Xiao Xuan withdrew her gaze and stood motionless on the lecture platform.
“Teacher Xiao, when are we starting class?” A female voice from below the platform reached her. Xiao Xuan snapped out of her thoughts. Seeing that the class time had passed, she quickly cleared her throat and turned on the microphone: “Students, let’s begin the class.”
Midway through the class, Xiao Xuan allocated half an hour for self-study and distributed the prepared in-class quiz. The previously murmuring sounds in the classroom gradually quieted down. She walked around the classroom twice with her arms crossed, finally stopping near An Qianyang.
“Teacher Xiao,” a student sitting in front of An Qianyang and the other girl raised a hand, “I can’t solve this problem this way. Can you help me take a look?”
Xiao Xuan leaned over to answer the question, then turned and quickly glanced at An Qianyang. She still hadn’t looked up. The quiz on her desk was completely blank.
Class finally ended. After dealing with the surrounding students, Xiao Xuan opened WeChat and clicked on the red dots in various group chats. A long list of tasks awaited her: “Second Half Semester Course Allocation for Junior Computer Science,” “Work Progress Report for the Haoyoulai Project,” “Friday Computer Science College Meeting Notice,” “Detailed Rules for Professor Title Evaluation Materials,” “November National Product Design Competition Teacher Group Allocation List”…
She looked up at the empty classroom, her eyes slightly dim.
…
“What did you just say? You went to Xiao Xuan’s class today?” Bei Xuan was applying lipstick in front of the mirror. “Didn’t she just reject you a while ago? Are you still not giving up, girl?”
An Qianyang sat on the sofa and replied softly: “I think I’m crazy. I even brought a T with me, the one who just started pursuing me.”
“Are you putting on a show for her? Director An, you’re so dramatic. You’ll be the death of yourself sooner or later.”
“Xuanxuan, I don’t know what’s wrong with me…” An Qianyang’s gaze flickered under Bei Xuan’s stare. “She said last time she treats me like a student. I thought about it for a long time and still couldn’t give up. Then I was proven wrong. She had no reaction at all. I’m both hateful and angry, and I still have to pretend I don’t care.”
Bei Xuan leaned in and stared at her for 10 seconds: “An’an, your IQ has plummeted below the average human level. Are you still the An Qianyang I know?” She pulled An Qianyang up from the sofa and dragged her to the mirror: “Look at your face. It’s so pale; I almost don’t recognize you.”
An Qianyang looked at her paper-white face and heavy dark circles in the mirror, frowning as she sighed.
Bei Xuan handed her the lipstick: “Try this first. You’ll feel much better with makeup on.” An Qianyang didn’t take it, still looking distracted. Bei Xuan grew impatient: “Fine, fine, I give up. I’ll show you a clear path. Your Teacher Xiao’s ex, Eileen, is back in the country today. I just received the news before coming to your place. Do you want to go talk to her and hear Xiao Xuan’s dark history? Maybe there’s a way to solve your current situation.”
“She’s back? Why is she back?” An Qianyang was startled, then said, “Why should I go see her? To hear her talk about how mushy she and Xiao Xuan used to be? I must be out of my mind.”
“Cheng Fei asked her to come back to discuss business. I can set up a meeting with her under the guise of family business. Aren’t you curious about what happened between them in Australia?” Bei Xuan finished speaking and saw An Qianyang’s face grow even paler. “Alright, alright, pretend I didn’t say anything.”
Eileen is back. Will she look for Xiao Xuan? But what does any of this have to do with An Qianyang? Realizing her unrequited feelings for Xiao Xuan, every moment she saw her and the time she didn’t see her were unbearably difficult.
