Take Away My Sickly Beauty [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 1
The floor of the spacious master bedroom in the Ye residence was strewn with various gorgeous and expensive clothes. These gowns, crafted by top designers and considered priceless, were discarded by their owner without a shred of pity, as if she couldn’t bear to spare them a second glance.
Ann, the chief designer of Cupid, stepped across the room in “sky-high” stilettos. Her face, renowned for its elfin beauty, was twisted into an expression of disdain and contempt. Her voice was cold as she spoke: “Ye, you had better have a good reason for seeking me out.”
To Ann, time was literal silver and gold. Even a single second of her time could generate immense profit; countless wealthy socialites and aristocrats couldn’t even manage to hire her.
“Alright, stop pulling that face to scare people. I’ll pay whatever overtime fee you want. Now, hurry up and coordinate an outfit for me.” The woman in front of the mirror possessed a perfect figure and a breathtaking beauty that even Ann had to admit was remarkable. The glance she cast toward Ann made the designer feel momentarily captivated.
Despite her disdain for her boss, Ann had to concede that this woman was her muse.
Hearing these words, Ann suppressed the urge to curse. She pulled out a dress of her own design and tossed it to her, frowning. “Is my status as a top designer meant for this? To do your outfit coordination before you go out on a date? Do you have any idea how much money your behavior has cost me?”
Ann was a literal money-grubber; her ideal life was to spend her days with money and nothing else.
The night-blue water-ripple long dress was paired with high heels of the same color. The owner’s smooth black hair was casually pinned up and adorned with silver coral that wound from the bun all the way to the top of her ear.
Finally, it was accessorized with a matching coral jewelry set and a crown set with a sapphire. The sapphire dropped from the bottom of the crown to the center of Ye Wuming’s forehead, lending her a touch of divinity.
“Excellent. Sea Emperor, it is time for you to go greet your princess.” Ann was satisfied with her handiwork, and her words lost some of their cynical edge.
“Hey, how many times have I told you? Don’t use such misleading terms to describe me,” the young founder of the Cupid commercial empire argued with a dissatisfied pout. “I am a single-minded person.”
She only loved her “Sunshine.”
“Fine, go hurry and greet your Sunshine then.” Ann didn’t want to waste more time. She cruelly stated the truth: “Perhaps your Sunshine has long since forgotten you.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Ye Wuming replied nonchalantly. If she had forgotten, she would simply make her remember again.
Knowing the stubbornness of her superior, Ann tossed over an exquisitely packaged box. Before turning to leave, she said, “A gift for your Sunshine. Give her my regards.”
Ye Wuming looked at the box in her hand and couldn’t help but click her tongue. Why was it that when this woman gave her jewelry, it was always tossed over in a plastic bag or a tattered cardboard box, yet she was so meticulous regarding Jiyu?
An absurd radar labeled “Jealousy and a Green Meadow Over the Head” began to spin. Ye Wuming gripped the box warily, as if looking at a third party trying to intervene. She wondered secretly if that sharp-tongued woman, Ann, had fallen for her Sunshine.
“Achoo!” Before she had even left the Ye residence, Ann sneezed.
She looked at the bright sun outside and cursed Ye Wuming as an idiot. It must be that fool overthinking things again. She was the richest person in the world, having reached the summit at twenty-five; the commercial empire she built over three years was a distant goal that many people couldn’t achieve in several lifetimes.
Her every word and decision could stir massive waves in the ocean of the global economy.
Yet, such a young and capable person was a total “love brain.” Like the legend of Kua Fu chasing the sun, everything she did was for the sake of her Sunshine. She had even become a hands-off manager now because of that Sunshine.
“Fuck!” Ann blurted out a “beautiful” word in English.
The boss went off to fall in love, leaving the mess to the corporate drones. No wonder Ye had been so frantic in training the team back then, leading them day and night. At the time, the core members of the team were so grateful they wanted to kneel and kowtow to her.
“If I don’t build a team, how can I enjoy my leisure?” Ye Wuming’s words were so logical that her team members did indeed want to kowtow to her by hitting that love-brain of hers with a brick.
Unaware that she was being cursed daily, Ye Wuming lifted her skirt. She looked like a deity emerging from the deep sea, or a mysterious mermaid who had come to the human world.
But now, she was going to greet her Sunshine.
Chen Jiyu, the CEO of the Chen Group, was a beautiful woman seven years her senior.
Because a traitor within the Chen Group had leaked trade secrets to a rival last month, the company was in a precarious position. This CEO, who usually disliked attending banquets and socializing with hypocrites, had to lower her status and pride to attend the coming-of-age ceremony hosted by the Liu family for their daughter, hoping to find a glimmer of hope for her business.
However, she didn’t expect the Liu family to give her a “show of strength” before she even entered the door.
Everyone in the circle knew that because the CEO of the Chen Group had a limp, she always wore long dresses that almost brushed the ground. But this time, the Liu family used the excuse that their daughter liked a “natural atmosphere” to lay a path of wet mud and grass from the main gate to the interior.
Other women in long dresses could simply lift their skirts and be supported by their male companions to walk across. But Chen Jiyu could not.
She looked down at the muddy path, her slender fingers clenching until her knuckles turned white. Her forest-dark dress made her look like an elf emerging from the woods.
But now, the elf refused to approach nature.
“President Chen, why aren’t you coming in?” The soft voice of the Liu family’s eldest daughter sounded, but it carried an artificial, nauseating tone.
Chen Jiyu looked up and was startled to find that, at some point, the young lady had led the majority of the guests to a spot not far in front of her. These people were waiting to see her make a fool of herself.
Beside the Liu daughter was a soft and cute girl. That was her rival Hua Lingling, the only daughter of the Hua family who had recently returned from abroad.
The hand of Hua Lingling had been behind the scenes of the Chen Group’s secret leak, but due to insufficient evidence, she couldn’t be prosecuted.
Chen Jiyu looked on coldly. Suddenly, those prominent figures in the circle seemed to turn into distorted monsters, baring their fangs and claws, trying to drag her into hell.
Chen Jiyu lowered her gaze to the mud beneath her feet. Those fair, slender hands that usually handled documents and decisions were now making a decision for the sake of her own dignity.
The piercing pain in her right ankle could not stop her from lifting her skirt. The Chen Group was already in a life-or-death situation; she could not give up even a sliver of opportunity.
As she took a step in a daze, it felt as though she were stepping into an abyss. But in that endless fall, someone caught her hand.
“Hey, am I late?” The voice, carrying a slight foreign accent, was incredibly pleasant to the ear.
Chen Jiyu turned her head abruptly and collided into a piece of the deep sea.
The deity from the deep sea pulled her back from the abyss. The hand gripping her arm was warm and strong, and the concern in her eyes was intense and obvious.
“Walking on this in a long dress will get the hem dirty. Since President Liu doesn’t welcome us, would the beautiful President Chen care to join me for dinner instead?” Ye Wuming utilized the full extent of Western passion and boldness.
Chen Jiyu was stunned, unable to tell for a moment if she was dreaming.
She knew this person. This young, tall woman was the founder of Cupid, the world’s largest commercial empire.
The Liu family’s status had only soared because they had managed to connect with Cupid, making them the target of everyone’s flattery.
But now, their partner was inviting the CEO of a crumbling business group to dinner?
Chen Jiyu placed her hand in the other’s without hesitation, her cool eyes filled with determination. Regardless of the other party’s motive, she had to seize this chance. The Chen Group could wait no longer.
Ye Wuming held the slender, cold hand in hers, a moving smile irrepressibly forming on her lips.
Look, the Sea Emperor has taken away her Sunshine!
The sight of the two leaving without a backward glance left the crowd in a stunned, helpless silence. The eldest daughter of the Liu family was now scared out of her wits.
Her father had warned her repeatedly that she must leave a good impression on Ye Wuming; the Liu family’s life was in this young person’s hands.
But now, because she wanted to vent her frustrations for her best friend, she had acted on her own to create the mud path. She never expected she would cause such a catastrophe!
At this thought, the arrogant young lady, consumed by anger, immediately shifted all the blame onto her friend, Hua Lingling.
“It’s all your fault!” The spoiled young lady lunged forward to tear at the other girl’s hair.
After all, if Hua Lingling hadn’t constantly said that Chen Jiyu looked down on her and was always hindering her business development, she wouldn’t have impulsively tried to get revenge for her.
The guests, who had previously been united with the Liu daughter, now moved away one after another, sneering as they watched the farce unfold.
After all, everyone knew clearly: having offended the power behind Cupid, the Liu family was finished.
