Superstar Assistant [GL] - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
From starting out as a cleaning person to now being a high-level cleaner who only services the wealthy, Zhou Tiantian only took half a year. And she, too, has been reborn for half a year.
Zhou Tiantian stood outside the bank at this moment. Her overly thin body made her appear very fragile. Her pale, small face had delicate features, born with a hint of softness, making people instantly feel that this girl would be easy to bully.
After transferring two-thirds of this month’s salary into her mother’s account, Zhou Tiantian called her mother, Han Ping. Her voice was still somewhat soft, “Mom, did you receive the money?”
Han Ping whispered, “I received it.”
Zhou Tiantian urged her, “Now that you’ve received it, hurry up and go to the hospital to buy medicine, or if that person finds out, he’ll take it away from you again.”
Han Ping quickly replied, “Aiya, I’m already at the hospital. I’ll go back as soon as I buy the medicine.”
Zhou Tiantian was silent for a while, finally saying to Han Ping, “Mom, can’t you just divorce him?”
What she received in return was Han Ping’s longer silence. Just when Zhou Tiantian thought Han Ping was about to hang up, she finally said, “Why wouldn’t I want to divorce him? But you know his temper. I’m already halfway to the grave. If divorcing him makes him angry, he’s capable of anything. I don’t want to bring trouble to you.”
Zhou Tiantian deeply exhaled, telling herself not to rush, to take it slow. This life, she was determined to handle everything properly.
Hanging up the phone, Zhou Tiantian, who had been reborn for half a year, still wondered if she had truly been reborn. All the pain and tragedy of her past life had not yet happened.
She vividly remembered the passionate promises her stepfather made before marrying her mother. Yet, after the marriage, he treated her mother like a maid and an ATM. When her mother fell ill, he not only showed no sympathy but also made her drop out of college and marry the son of a local building contractor, all for the sake of the dowry money.
After marriage, Zhou Tiantian still had to work to supplement the household income, because that man always prioritized his own pleasure. Without enough money, he wouldn’t agree to use any for Han Ping’s medicine.
Zhou Tiantian thought if she were obedient, just a little more obedient, her husband would show her consideration, and her stepfather would have a change of heart. But all of this was less than a daydream.
The final blow to Zhou Tiantian was her husband’s domestic violence, which resulted in a miscarriage, and Han Ping also passed away due to delayed treatment.
Even half a year after her rebirth, Zhou Tiantian still felt the searing pain in her lower abdomen from the miscarriage. That heart-wrenching pain caused her to lose the will to live. As a result, in this life, she held zero trust in men, even bordering on disgust.
Living again, Zhou Tiantian was back at the time she dropped out of university. Listening to her stepfather urge her over the phone to return home and get married, Zhou Tiantian trembled and instinctively said, “I’ve found a job. I can earn ten thousand a month.”
Ten thousand—that number convinced her stepfather, making him temporarily spare Zhou Tiantian.
To earn this ten thousand yuan, Zhou Tiantian quickly found the easiest cleaning job, only sleeping five or six hours a day, constantly rushing between different households to clean. She was finally able to use money to temporarily hold off her stepfather.
But this was not her final goal. Because in her past life, she had the same illusion: working hard even after marriage, only to gain nothing in the end.
So, in this reborn life, she needed to fight back. She needed to free herself and her mother from that man-eating swamp.
The phone rang, interrupting Zhou Tiantian’s thoughts, but her heart still pounded quickly.
The call was from her supervisor, Guo Xiaoqing. “Tiantian, there’s an urgent job. The client has high demands, so I can only send you.”
Zhou Tiantian’s voice was soft, “No problem, Sister Guo, please send me the address.”
It was a high-end residential complex in the heart of B-City. The residents there were either rich or powerful. In this highly expensive area of B-City, each building in the complex only had eight floors, with vast distances between them and lush greenery like a park.
Zhou Tiantian opened the apartment door and immediately felt relieved. The house was not very dirty. She quickly cleaned the place and then began to organize the items.
This was why Zhou Tiantian was able to get promoted in half a year. When she cleaned, she didn’t just tidy the house; she would also meticulously arrange the owner’s belongings. She placed everything in the most convenient locations, and the entire room looked much more orderly.
As she finished all this, the sound of the door lock turning clicked, followed by a woman’s surprised voice, “Who is it? Why are the lights on in the room?”
Zhou Tiantian immediately stood up and said to the woman entering the room, “Hello, I am a staff member from Jiahe Cleaning. I came to clean your home.”
The woman said flatly, “Oh, I see…” Before she could finish, however, she suddenly got angry, her voice sharp. “Who told you to move the things in the room?”
Zhou Tiantian was surprised by her extreme reaction and was momentarily stunned.
The woman became even more aggressive, “What’s wrong with you? Just clean! Why did you move things in the house!”
Zhou Tiantian mumbled, “I, I just organized the items in the room according to most people’s convenient habits.”
“Did we need you to organize?” The woman’s temper flared even more. “How do I know if you were organizing things or stealing something?”
A suffocating feeling gradually built up inside Zhou Tiantian. Memories from before her rebirth slowly invaded her mind—she had been scolded just like this by her husband and stepfather.
She was trembling all over now. Every cell was screaming for resistance, but she couldn’t. She couldn’t resist, because she desperately needed this job now. She couldn’t offend a customer and lose her work.
“I’m sorry.” In the end, only these three words came out, because she had no other choice.
The woman scoffed, “You think saying sorry is enough? I’m telling you, I’m going to complain to your company. If anything is missing from this house, you will be fully responsible!”
Zhou Tiantian was shaking with anger, but she couldn’t do anything to the person in front of her. Finally, she was rushed out the door.
She stood in front of the elevator, constantly blinking, trying to clear the mist welling up in her eyes. The elevator door opened, and an excessively beautiful woman with a look of impatience stepped out. The stark white light of the elevator made her skin look bright and tender.
Zhou Tiantian froze slightly, feeling inexplicably familiar with the woman, but she didn’t think much of it and stepped into the elevator.
The moment the elevator door closed, the woman with delicate features turned to look at the elevator, her brows slightly furrowed, her eyes carrying confusion.
She was the current popular celebrity, Li Ziyu.
Li Ziyu opened her apartment door and heard the voice of her assistant swearing. “What kind of cleaning company is this? I’m definitely calling to complain tomorrow. These people can’t even clean properly. What are they alive for? Wasting social resources!”
“Stop talking.” Li Ziyu spoke with displeasure, a wave of annoyance rising in her heart. The assistant, who had just been cursing, immediately turned and smiled. “Ziyu, you’re back?”
Li Ziyu nodded, her gaze never lingering on the assistant. Her voice was pleasant, but her tone was cold and impatient. “You can go back.”
The assistant nodded and bowed, quickly leaving Li Ziyu’s apartment.
Li Ziyu took off her shoes in the entranceway and opened the shoe cabinet, finding her slippers on the top shelf, easily accessible without bending over. She then noticed a storage box on the shoe cabinet. It looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t recall when she bought it. However, she was certain that the storage box hadn’t been there before.
She casually dropped her small shoulder bag into the storage box, reached for a bottle of water placed on the shoe cabinet, and took a sip before realizing: Why was there a bottle of water here? Moreover, it wasn’t warm or cold; it was the perfect temperature.
Walking into the living room, Li Ziyu noticed that many items were neatly arranged. The room seemed much more spacious. She sat on the sofa and instinctively reached for the remote control nearby. Before she could turn on the TV, she froze.
Who could understand her habits so well? Everything was in the perfect, most convenient location. Li Ziyu sank into thought. A vague figure appeared in her mind—the person who had brushed past her and walked into the elevator—but Li Ziyu couldn’t recall their face.
Zhou Tiantian returned to her single rental room, feeling very uneasy before sleep. She previously always helped clients organize their household items when cleaning. When she received the call from Guo Xiaoqing, she naturally assumed the client needed items organized. She never expected to encounter someone who disliked it today. She didn’t know what would happen tomorrow if the complaint reached the company. If the company fired her because of this, could she find an equivalent-paying job in the short term?
In the end, Zhou Tiantian stopped thinking too much. The matter had already happened, and she knew worrying wouldn’t help. If that person came looking for her tomorrow, she would react then.
Sure enough, when Zhou Tiantian went to work the next day, Guo Xiaoqing came over to her and said, “Yesterday’s customer complained about you, saying you shouldn’t have messed up her house.”
Zhou Tiantian frowned slightly, her face full of worry. After her rebirth, her voice was still soft, making her seem like someone easy to bully. “Then I’ll go apologize to her, or maybe put the house back the way it was? I still remember the original placement of her items.”
Guo Xiaoqing nodded. “Yes, let’s go together. I was also at fault for not clarifying the needs since the order was urgent. I hope we don’t offend this client, or if the news spreads, it will be hard to get jobs in their circle, which would be bad for the company and for both of us.”
The two then went together to the high-end complex from the day before.
Inside Li Ziyu’s apartment at this time, assistant Xiao Liu was looking disdainfully at the room arrangement that Zhou Tiantian had “messed up.” She sneered, picked up the storage box on the shoe cabinet, and scoffed, “This house has a fingerprint lock. Why put a box here? No need for keys. Humph, an ignorant cleaner.”
Just as she finished speaking, Li Ziyu’s voice drifted down from upstairs. “What are you talking about down there?” She had just woken up, wearing a silk slip dress with a matching robe tied at the waist, subtly outlining her figure. As she walked downstairs, her hips swayed slightly from side to side. When she wasn’t speaking, she was quite graceful.
Xiao Liu quickly turned and smiled, “I was talking about this cleaner. She’s completely unprofessional at cleaning.”
Li Ziyu was again impatient, walking down step by step, her tone carrying slight irritation. “Why are you here today if you don’t have work?”
Xiao Liu chuckled, “I came to see if Sister Ziyu needed anything.”
Li Ziyu looked at the empty dining table. “Since you came so early to ask if I needed anything, why didn’t you bring some breakfast?”
Xiao Liu froze, then smiled even more flatteringly. “I’ll go down and buy some right away. What do you want to eat, Ziyu?”
Li Ziyu sat on the sofa, growing more irritated. “Anything.”
Xiao Liu immediately agreed. “Oh, I’ll buy a lot of things for you.” She turned and rolled her eyes as she said this. Opening the door, she happened to see Zhou Tiantian raising her hand to knock. Her voice instantly turned sharp. “Why are you here? You have the nerve to show up?”
Zhou Tiantian lowered her hand and looked at Xiao Liu with her head slightly down, her voice still soft. “I came to apologize to you. We didn’t understand your needs before cleaning and randomly organized the furnishings in your home. We would like to put everything back to its original location so you can use it comfortably.”
Xiao Liu crossed her arms over her chest, sneering. “You tampered with the items in the house without my permission. Do you think an apology can fix that?”
