Studying Is Such A Damn Thing - Chapter 6
The car headed toward the amusement park; the interior filled with lively chatter.
“Damn it! Qi Yuan, stop grabbing my phone!” “My Bluetooth headphones are connected to your phone! Let me disconnect them!” “You’re just playing games, why do you even need headphones?” “Why do you care?” You Cheche rolled his eyes and finally handed the phone over.
“Alright, stop arguing, we’re almost there,” Shen Yiyi interceded from the side. A gentle smile graced her face, but when her eyes met Song Chaolian’s, she froze for a couple of seconds, showing a rare look of dazed fluttering.
The sky was bright and clear, the treetops swayed slightly, and the leaves were an unusual shade of vibrant green. The air was thick with the heat of summer, where light and the scent of flowers intertwined and lingered. In the distance, the music was incredibly loud and the crowds were surging. At a glance, one could see towering attractions; looking back, there were the six of them, their faces brimming with joy.
“Hurry up, stop dawdling!” You Cheche walked at the very front, pulling Qi Yuan with one hand and linking arms with Shen Yiyi with the other as they moved forward.
“Brother Tang, your family is seriously impressive, building an amusement park this huge just like that,” Qi Yuan lamented as they walked. Tang Yuwei gave a gentle smile, looking down and shaking his head, while casting a few quiet glances at Li Yuyu. You Cheche caught everything, his lips curling up as he screamed internally with excitement.
“Want to ride the roller coaster?” Song Chaolian asked. “Sure, let’s go!” “Whoever’s too scared to go is a coward!” “Come on, who’s afraid of who?” Tang Yuwei looked down at Li Yuyu and asked in a low voice, “Are you scared? Do you want to go?” Li Yuyu’s face flushed as he whispered, “I’m… I’m not scared… I can do it.”
Song Chaolian and Shen Yiyi went to the window to buy tickets. They chatted as they walked, and Shen Yiyi became unusually lively, looking more spirited than ever.
“Come on, get in line!” “Move, move, Qi Yuan, hurry up and stop playing on your phone!”
It didn’t take long to reach the front, and the six of them boarded the roller coaster. You Cheche and Qi Yuan were making bets, pulling and dragging each other until they ended up in the very first row. Shen Yiyi and Song Chaolian stood together watching them, their lips twitching in unison as they silently took seats in the second row. They stared at the two heads in front of them, feeling both helpless and speechless.
Tang Yuwei kept his hands in his pockets, looking down at the younger boy and warmly asking where he wanted to sit. The two of them then moved to the middle section and sat together.
Ding! The roller coaster started, slowly ascending. You Cheche closed his eyes and, in a moment of panic, reached out and grabbed Qi Yuan’s hand. Qi Yuan was also terrified, so he gripped the other’s hand tightly. The coaster stopped, and You Cheche opened his eyes thinking it was over, only to find they were suspended in mid-air. His pupils shrank instantly.
“AAAAHHHHHH!” When Qi Yuan heard You Cheche’s scream, he had just opened his eyes when the coaster plunged downward at extreme speed. “AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!!” The two of them screamed tragically, but the coaster wouldn’t stop. It went through several loops, climbed another hill, and finally came to a halt after the final drop.
The result was that the two weakest links, who had insisted on sitting in the first row due to a bet, were now completely vacant. After getting off, they still hadn’t processed what happened, drifting around like ghosts who had lost their souls.
Near the exit, there was a cotton candy stall. Tang Yuwei and Li Yuyu went to buy some, while the remaining four watched their retreating backs, clicking their tongues.
“Hey, want to go to KTV tonight?” “Sure, are you two free?” Shen Yiyi, who was talking to Song Chaolian, turned around at the question. “Okay, I’ll book a room right now.” “Aren’t you going to ask Brother Tang and Xiao Yu?” Song Chaolian spoke up, having just turned off his phone after checking something. “It’s fine, I just asked on WeChat, they’re in.” “Oh, okay.”
Tang Yuwei and Li Yuyu returned after buying the cotton candy. “Let’s go, want to try the drop tower?” “Let’s go!”
Ugh… the result was exactly the same. It was those same two people in the same situation, trembling all over with faces turned green.
Fact of the matter is, don’t try to act tough. Acting tough leads to your own demise.
