Studying Is Such A Damn Thing - Chapter 5
Early the next morning, Qi Yuan slowly drifted awake. Still half-asleep, he felt a source of warmth nestled in his arms. He looked down to find a boy lying there, an arm draped casually over Qi Yuan’s waist, one leg tangled with his, and the other hooked around him. It was a very… dependent posture.
His peaceful sleeping face was beautiful. The youth was sleeping so soundly that his hair was a mess and his lips were slightly parted. Qi Yuan gazed down at You Cheche, feeling an unexpected ripple of emotion stir in his heart.
“Wake up, little lazybones. If you sleep any longer, we’re going to be late. And if we’re late, Brother Tang is going to kill us,” Qi Yuan whispered.
You Cheche was in the middle of a sweet dream. Annoyed at being disturbed, he grumbled impatiently, “Bullshit. Tang is so gentle, there’s no way he’d kill me!”
“Song Chaolian is coming too,” Qi Yuan added, his voice feigning coldness.
“Holy crap, now he actually might kill me. Let’s go, let’s go!” Like a dying man jolting back to life, You Cheche bolted upright, scrambled out of bed, and rushed to get dressed, brush his teeth, and wash his face.
Qi Yuan watched the chaos, dumbfounded. “Wait, babe, is Song Chaolian really that scary? Is all this necessary?”
“Ew, don’t be gross. And Papa Song is very, very terrifying.”
The ringing of You Cheche’s phone interrupted their banter. “Hello? Yiyi, what’s up?”
“Cheche, come downstairs. A-Lian and I are waiting for you.”
Hearing this, Qi Yuan’s eyes widened. “Crap, I haven’t even put my clothes on!”
Five minutes later, Qi Yuan, acting like the Flash, and You Cheche, acting like a man running for his life, rushed downstairs and piled into the car.
“Hello, friends! A beautiful day has begun!”
“Qi Yuan, are you mentally ill?” Song Chaolian piped up from the side, looking disgusted.
“Papa Song, that’s not right. How can you say that?”
“How can I what?”
“Never mind…” Thwarted, Qi Yuan pulled out his phone and started playing a game. On the other side, You Cheche was pulled into an intense gossip session with Shen Yiyi.
“Did you hear about that thing from a few days ago? You know, the one where…”
“Huh? Really?”
“Yeah! The forum is going crazy over it! Look…”
As Qi Yuan listened to the two of them chat, he continued his game. Suddenly, he felt a restless itch in his mouth. “Papa Song, do you have any mints or something? I’ve got a craving.”
“Here, catch.”
“Hey! Thanks!” Qi Yuan caught it. “Oh, by the way, is our next stop picking up Brother Tang and little brother Yu?”
“Yeah.”
“Wait, do they live together?”
“No, they’re just neighbors.”
“Oh…”
Shortly after the conversation died down, the car arrived. “Morning, everyone. Chaolian, why are you driving the limousine today?”
“Well, I had to fit all of you, didn’t I?”
“Must be nice being rich. Not like me and Cheche, just two broke losers,” Qi Yuan chimed in with a sigh.
Tang Yuwei gave a gentle smile, then turned and reached out a hand to help a boy into the car. He turned back to introduce him. “You all probably know him already, but this is Li Yuyu, my desk mate.”
“Oh, we totally understand”
“Aww, Little Yu, Brother Tang has never brought anyone but you to meet the group before”
Hearing this, Li Yuyu looked at Tang Yuwei and then lowered his head, his face turning bright red. He gave Tang Yuwei’s sleeve a tiny, shy tug. Seeing this, Qi Yuan and You Cheche exchanged a look, knowing their teasing had hit the mark.
“Alright, alright, let’s get moving,” Shen Yiyi said, stepping in to smooth things over.
Tang Yuwei and Li Yuyu sat down. They leaned in close, heads bent together as they looked at Tang Yuwei’s phone, whispering quietly to each other.
Watching them, You Cheche was overwhelmed with the excitement of a dedicated shipper, screaming internally with joy. He pulled out his phone and snapped several photos, but because of Li Yuyu’s shy personality, he ultimately decided not to post them on the forum.
