- Chapter 2 - Alphas are Dangerous, They’ll Steal Your Drink
The first period of the afternoon was PE. Since school had just started, no teachers had come to hijack the class time yet, so everyone headed to the playground in small groups.
You Cheche walked downstairs arm-in-arm with Shen Yiyi. From a distance, he saw Qi Yuan on the court dribbling a basketball while talking to Song Chaolian. The two of them standing together was a real sight for sore eyes. Even though they were both Alphas, who could truly understand the inner workings of a fanboy’s mind?
You Cheche could. He understood perfectly, and he was practically weeping with joy. He whipped out his phone like he was drawing a gun, opened the camera with intense focus, and completely lost himself in the moment, forgetting the rest of the world existed. After snapping several photos in quick succession, he admired them for a moment before waving his hand to upload them all to the school’s Danmei forum.
Song Chaolian and Qi Yuan, the School Prince and the School Bully, the Rank One and the Rank Last, the love between two Alphas is equally epic and moving!
He followed the post with several flamboyant red heart emojis.
You Cheche put away his phone, hiding his work and his fame.
When he looked back at the court, the game had already started. Sunlight hit the boys’ faces, radiating youthful energy.
The game concluded with a three-pointer from Qi Yuan. “Brother Qi is so handsome!” a group of boys nearby cheered and whistled.
“That’s not just handsome, that’s flirting with the heavens!”
Qi Yuan just laughed, ignoring everyone and looking toward You Cheche in the distance. The summer heat was intense, and the boy’s face was slightly beaded with sweat. He had likely taken a trip to the convenience store, as he was holding an ice-cold Coke. Qi Yuan couldn’t help but swallow, his throat feeling a bit tight. He felt a spark of anticipation, curious if the boy further away had bought a drink for him too.
Turning his head, he intended to see what Song Chaolian was up to, only to find him also staring in You Cheche’s direction. Feeling a bit annoyed, Qi Yuan immediately threw an arm around Song Chaolian, ruffled his hair, and led him toward You Cheche.
Meanwhile, You Cheche, who was biting his straw and sipping his Coke, saw this scene and screamed internally: “AAAAAAAAAH SO SWEET SO SWEET SO SWEET!!!!!”
Shen Yiyi, standing next to him, was puzzled. As a fellow Alpha, he didn’t quite get it, but he was happy to accompany this little ball of exploding fluff in his “shipping” fantasies.
You Cheche watched as Qi Yuan approached him, getting closer and closer. By the time he sensed something was wrong, it was too late. “Ah! My Coke! Qi Yuan, you stupid bastard! Give me back my Coke!” Qi Yuan didn’t rush. He slowly and deliberately bit down on the straw that You Cheche had already chewed flat, and took a sip.
It was sweet.
As for Song Chaolian, he went to find Shen Yiyi. A “Lian” and a “Yi,” one could say their names together even had a certain poetic flavor to appreciate.
The two of them were chatting heatedly in the distance. Shen Yiyi always became exceptionally excited upon meeting Song Chaolian, though it was merely the fury of a perennial second-place student looking at the first-place one.
Or so You Cheche lamented in his heart. In reality, while Shen Yiyi seemed gentle, he was actually quite lively on the inside, he just didn’t express it often. The only people who knew this were Song Chaolian, himself, Qi Yuan, and Tang Yuwei.
He, Song Chaolian, Shen Yiyi, and Tang Yuwei had grown up together. From elementary to middle to high school, they had always been in the same school and the same class, their relationship being extremely close. Qi Yuan was a late addition. He had transferred to their class in the third year of middle school, became good friends with Song Chaolian, and then became familiar with the rest of them. Their bond was naturally excellent.
Since the five of them couldn’t scrape together a single Omega and only had You Cheche as the lone Beta, he had naturally been pampered by the four Alphas since childhood. Carefree and happy, he lived like an immortal.
After the seats were shuffled, Tang Yuwei sat in front of Qi Yuan. His little desk-mate was very withdrawn, like moss that only existed in damp, dark corners, never speaking.
But Tang Yuwei insisted on pressing his warm face against that cold shoulder, offering greetings and deep concern every single day.
You Cheche remained silent, merely continuing to scream, twist, and “ship” his pairings in his dark, chaotic little heart.
