Striving for Harmony After Transmigrating as an Alpha Female Supporting Character - Chapter 4
In just a few short days, Ai Xiaoyu’s Entropy had climbed to 40, fueling her confidence. Once she hit 500, she could disable the OOC function and finally step out from under the system’s tyrannical thumb.
On the morning of the first day of school, she woke up late, rushed to splash her face with water, and ditched the frilly “princess” skirts for a standard school uniform. Downstairs, she noticed Jing Nianxun was already gone.
“Where is Jing Nianxun?” she asked the driver.
“Miss Jing leaves very early every day to take the bus,” the driver replied.
The system chimed in: [The original Ai Xiaoyu thought Jing Nianxun was “dirty” and forbid her from riding in the family car. She has to get up early to catch the public bus.]
Ai Xiaoyu looked at the heavy, dark clouds outside. How cruel.
By the time Ai Xiaoyu reached the school gates, a torrential downpour had begun. She hurried into the classroom just as her “best friend” a minor cannon fodder named Ning Xi, accosted her.
“You’re not late! You’re wearing a uniform! And no twin-tails?!” Ning Xi squealed in disbelief.
“I woke up late,” Ai Xiaoyu muttered, her eyes scanning the room for a certain thin figure.
She found her in a back corner. Jing Nianxun sat rigidly, her head down, looking out of place among the wealthy heirs. Her hair was damp, and a dripping umbrella leaned against her desk.
[System: OOC Warning! Ai Xiaoyu would not sit next to Jing Nianxun.]
“Look over there,” Ai Xiaoyu thought to the system.
Near the desk stood a tall, athletic Alpha with tanned skin—Cheng Wang. In the original novel, he was the male lead’s rival and a love interest for Ai Xiaoyu, but he only had eyes for Jing Nianxun.
“I ‘like’ Cheng Wang,” Ai Xiaoyu explained to the system. “And Cheng Wang likes the female lead. To keep them apart, I must take that seat myself. It’s perfectly in character for a jealous girl!”
She marched over, snatched Cheng Wang’s bag off the chair, and smirked. “Sorry, this seat is taken.”
“You two know each other?” Cheng Wang asked, disappointed.
“She’s my cousin,” Ai Xiaoyu said firmly. Jing Nianxun’s fingers trembled at the word “cousin,” but she kept her head low.
[System: OOC Index +10. Total: 15. Please be careful, Host.]
Ai Xiaoyu sat down and maintained a look of disdain. “Your hair is soaked, and your clothes are wet. You’re going to smell by the end of the day.”
Jing Nianxun froze, instinctively sniffing her sleeve in a panic. Ai Xiaoyu felt a pang of guilt—all she could smell was the girl’s clean, faint scent—but she had to keep up the act.
“Stop taking the bus on rainy days,” Ai Xiaoyu continued sharply. “The station is too far. Our car isn’t going to go broke over a little extra gas.”
Jing Nianxun looked up, her eyes wide with shock.
“Actually, this city’s weather is trash. Just take the car every day from now on.”
It was a clumsy, “villainous” invitation, but an invitation nonetheless. After a long silence, Jing Nianxun whispered, “…Thank you.”
The system didn’t deduct points this time; the harshness of her delivery must have balanced the kindness of the act.
Ning Xi followed them to the back and loudly asked, “Wait, is this that ‘ugly parasite’ cousin you always talk about?”
The room went silent. Everyone looked toward the back corner.
Ning Xi leaned in and whispered to Ai Xiaoyu, “She… she doesn’t actually look ugly. Did she get plastic surgery?”
Ai Xiaoyu rolled her eyes. “With my family’s genes, even our ‘ugly’ looks like a beauty to everyone else.”
Ning Xi laughed. “Now that sounds like the Ai Xiaoyu I know!” She then announced to the class, “I take it back! Everyone in the Ai family is a peerless beauty!”
The classmates couldn’t help but agree.
Ai Xiaoyu had delicate, pampered features that made her look like a cute Omega, despite her hidden Alpha curves.
Jing Nianxun, though undifferentiated, possessed a cold, ethereal aura. Her damp hair and pale skin only added to her stubborn, “lotus-like” beauty.
The genes of the Ai family were indeed powerful. Just as the class began to gossip, a stern voice boomed from the doorway: “What are you all looking at? The bell rang ages ago! Quiet down!”
