Striving for Harmony After Transmigrating as an Alpha Female Supporting Character - Chapter 10
After class, Ai Xiaoyu was racking her brain when she overheard teachers discussing near the office. “The basketball tournament starts next week. How is your class’s practice going?”
Their balding teacher, Mr. Zhang, complained, “You know how it is. Liberal arts classes don’t have many athletes. The few we have are always missing in action. I’m afraid we won’t even have enough people to form a team.”
Ai Xiaoyu walked up with a bright smile. “Teacher, Cheng Wang seems to really love basketball! Even though the tournament is next week, it is not too late if he starts intensive practice this weekend!”
Mr. Zhang’s face lit up. “Really? Cheng Wang is willing to play? That is wonderful! Our class has hope!”
During class, Mr. Zhang asked Cheng Wang in front of everyone, “Cheng Wang, I heard you like basketball. Are you willing to join next week’s tournament?”
Cheng Wang was stunned. “But the team isn’t even fully formed, and we haven’t practiced coordination. There isn’t enough time.”
Mr. Zhang waved his hand dismissively. “No problem! I borrowed the gym keys. You can practice in there all weekend!”
Cheng Wang’s mind was still on his date. He was a man with plans; where would he find time to practice? Seeing his silence, Mr. Zhang pressed, “Do you have something else going on? If you are truly busy, forget it.”
Cheng Wang did not dare say he was prioritizing a date. He just waved his hands. “No, no.”
“Then it is settled! I’ll give you the gym keys. Take the other team members and practice hard. Let’s make it to the finals!”
Cheng Wang was speechless and could only agree.
After school, Ai Xiaoyu tapped on his desk. When Cheng Wang looked up and saw it was her, he immediately looked disgusted. Ai Xiaoyu ignored it and said casually, “Win some glory for the class! Good luck!”
Cheng Wang looked at her, suddenly realizing something. “Did you tell Old Zhang to make me play because you saw me inviting Nianxun to the movies yesterday? I’m telling you, even if I don’t go with her this time, I’ll have other chances. I will never date you! Give it up!”
“…” Ai Xiaoyu had not expected his logic to leap that far. He actually thought she liked him? She secretly rolled her eyes; she was not taking the fall for the original host’s tastes.
Weekend, Cinema.
Jing Nianxun clutched the tickets at the entrance, searching for a familiar figure. She did not even know why she had agreed to come. Perhaps because no classmate had ever invited her before, she could not find a reason to refuse even if she wanted to.
After a moment, a petite figure squeezed through the bustling crowd. Ai Xiaoyu walked in, tilting her head as she looked around.
Ai Xiaoyu?
Why is she here? Who is she meeting?
A string of names flashed through Jing Nianxun’s mind before she forced the thoughts away. It did not matter who she was meeting. Was it a boyfriend? Did Ai Xiaoyu have a boyfriend?
Ai Xiaoyu waved toward her. Jing Nianxun looked behind her, seeing only a mother coaxing a crying child.
“What are you looking at?” Ai Xiaoyu smiled at her instinctively. Realizing she was OOC, she quickly stiffened her face and put on a cold expression. “Cheng Wang had to train and couldn’t come, so he gave the tickets to me.” She waved them boastfully.
Jing Nianxun thought, Oh, so it’s because of Cheng Wang.
Ai Xiaoyu likes Cheng Wang.
The movie started soon after they took their seats. Jing Nianxun squeezed herself to one side of her chair to keep a distance from Ai Xiaoyu. She kept her eyes glued to the screen, not sparing Ai Xiaoyu a single glance.
Ai Xiaoyu felt a bit pathetic. People called Cheng Wang a “simp,” but she was failing just as hard as a supporting character.
Suddenly, a voice came from nearby, “Sister Ai! Sister Ai!”
Ai Xiaoyu didn’t realize who was being called until she saw two boys looking at her. One had a head shaved so smooth not a blade of grass could grow on it; the other had a tattoo on his arm that looked like either a snake, an earthworm, or perhaps a dragon.
The System explained, “The one on the left is Wei Dacheng, and the one on the right is Liu Sanmin.”
What generic names, Ai Xiaoyu thought. She remembered mocking these names when she first read the book. These two were representative lackeys among the “eldest daughter’s” many followers—the Bald One and the Tattooed One. They did all sorts of evil for the supporting character and were on the heroine’s future revenge list.
As for why she had so many lackeys? While her own combat strength was average, her family was rich. New money! Coupled with a hair-trigger temper and a habit of bullying, she often strutted around campus with a group of delinquents.
Seeing their boss, the two lackeys greeted her respectfully, but then froze when they saw the person next to her.
Jing Nianxun? Isn’t that the person Boss hates most?
In the tenth grade, they had been ordered to make life difficult for Jing Nianxun. They had thought she was quite pretty back then, but she had the misfortune of encountering a boss who showed no mercy to “fallen flowers.”
One of them whispered, “Oh, I get it. Sister Ai must have brought that girl to a horror movie on purpose! She wants to see her cry from fear. She’ll look so ugly!”
The other chimed in, “Exactly! Our Sister Ai is so brave; she would never cry!”
Ai Xiaoyu: “…”
She hadn’t known what kind of movie it was before coming. Seeing the title Red Nail Polish, she thought it was a romance film Cheng Wang had picked. But as the movie began with a pair of pale, skeletal hands with sharp nails painted blood-red, she realized something was wrong. She quickly checked the movie description on her phone.
…Fine, a horror movie.
I don’t dare watch this at all!
Why would a “straight man” like Cheng Wang take his crush to a horror movie?
The hands on the screen looked particularly eerie skin clinging to bone. The red polish glinted sharply as the hands suddenly lunged toward the camera.
“AAAAHHHHH!!!”
Ai Xiaoyu screamed and threw herself onto the person next to her, refusing to let go.
Jing Nianxun stared blankly at the person burying their face in the crook of her neck. Her face flushed instantly. A familiar scent hit her nose—the sweet juice of a peach diffused through the air, triggering her tense and sensitive nerve endings.
Jing Nianxun quietly tried to push her away. Only then did Ai Xiaoyu realize who she was hugging.
It’s over. I actually dared to hug the heroine. I’m dead.
To her surprise, the “beep” of OOC didn’t sound. Instead, a series of system notifications rang out:
[Entropy +30] [Character Complexity +10] [Jing Nianxun Pleasure Value +10]
Is Jing Nianxun really that happy seeing me make a fool of myself?!
Although Entropy increased, Ai Xiaoyu realized the “anti-human” level of the heroine’s perversion. No wonder she could do such things after darkening.
She scrambled out of Jing Nianxun’s arms. If the light had been brighter, she would have seen the crimson color spreading from Jing Nianxun’s earlobes down her neck.
Ai Xiaoyu turned her face back to the screen resentfully. This time, there was no red nail polish, but a woman was dressing in front of a mirror. Her movements were incredibly eerie, as if she were possessed by a ghost.
The woman spent several minutes just getting ready. Ai Xiaoyu was confused until the makeup was finished. Suddenly, blood seeped from the mirror. A closer look revealed it was oozing from the person’s facial features!
“AAAAHHHHH!”
I am never coming here again!
