Strategy to Tame My Dimwitted Older Sister A - Chapter 7
In the eyes of all alphas, Bai Xia was the luckiest at this moment, she had effortlessly won the favor of a beautiful omega. With just a little more effort, she might even make this omega her wife in the future. How perfect.
However, Bai Xia had never even considered such things. Whether in her past life or now, only one thought ever crossed her mind omegas are so fragile. What if she accidentally bumps into one? Would she have to marry them out of responsibility?
And what if the omega already had a preferred alpha? Wouldn’t that make her the third wheel?
Tsk, tsk, tsk.
She couldn’t become a sinner for the ages. Staying single was definitely the way to go.
So, when the instructor ordered her to escort Chu Nanqiao to the infirmary, it felt like a death sentence.
But in front of everyone, she couldn’t just refuse and embarrass Chu Nanqiao. Despite the lingering shadows from her past life, as an alpha, she had been raised with the principle of always taking care of omegas, a lesson her mother had drilled into her.
“Can you get up on your own?” Bai Xia extended her hand. “If not, I can help you.”
Chu Nanqiao looked up at her, eyes suddenly brightening as she stared unblinkingly. Her heart pounded wildly, leaving her momentarily speechless.
She had met many outstanding alphas before some incredibly attractive, even top-tier but none had ever made her feel this way. At most, she’d acknowledge their good looks, but there was no spark. Bai Xia was different. From the very first moment they met in the bar, her heart had raced uncontrollably for this alpha. That was why she had grabbed Bai Xia’s hand without hesitation.
Back then, she hadn’t thought much of it, assuming it was just anger that made her react that way. But now, under the bright sunlight that streamed down, illuminating Bai Xia’s delicate features, it felt different from the dim bar lighting like the first rays of dawn, seeping into the deepest corners of her heart.
Warm, yet utterly mesmerizing.
No one had ever made Chu Nanqiao feel this way, this overwhelming desire to claim someone as her own.
Yes, she wanted Bai Xia completely!
In that instant, a wicked thought sprouted in Chu Nanqiao’s mind she wanted Bai Xia to become an alpha who belonged to her and only her!
“What’s wrong? Are you still feeling unwell somewhere?” Bai Xia asked, noticing her frozen state. She checked Chu Nanqiao’s legs, but they seemed fine, no visible injuries.
Puzzled, Bai Xia asked again, “Do you need help getting up?”
Chu Nanqiao snapped out of her daze and quickly shook her head. “N-no, nothing else.”
“Alright then.” Bai Xia didn’t dwell on it. Holding an umbrella made it awkward to assist, so she closed it temporarily. But considering how harsh the sunlight was, she turned to another nearby alpha for help in lifting Chu Nanqiao up.
The two alphas beside her were about to reach out when Chu Nanqiao’s actions stopped them. She disliked being touched by strangers, especially when they were alphas her entire body would resist instinctively. It was probably due to her nature; she couldn’t truly trust any alpha, not even family. She always maintained a certain distance for safety.
But Bai Xia was the current exception.
Chu Nanqiao couldn’t quite explain why. The feeling was peculiar, as if they had known each other before for a long, long time. So long that no matter what happened, the other person could be trusted unconditionally.
“L-Let’s go.”
This time, Chu Nanqiao didn’t hold her hand. Instead, she grabbed onto Bai Xia’s sun-protective jacket.
Her grip wasn’t as tight as it had been last night in the bar, it felt loose, as if a slight shake could break it. Bai Xia couldn’t help but grumble inwardly, This girl really has two faces!
But thinking about it, Bai Xia realized her reaction might have been delayed. Maybe it wasn’t because her rebirth had altered Chu Nanqiao’s personality maybe Chu Nanqiao had always been this twisted. Perhaps in her past life, Chu Nanqiao had just hidden it too well, and she hadn’t noticed.
If that were the case was Chu Nanqiao getting close to her now just to stab her in the back again?!
The more Bai Xia thought about it, the more terrifying it seemed. She shuddered involuntarily. But she had no proof. Thinking so poorly of such a cute omega was no different from wrongfully accusing an innocent person something only a petty person would do.
After some consideration, Bai Xia dismissed her earlier suspicions.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Bai Xia walked ahead, while Chu Nanqiao trailed beside her, carefully gripping the hem of her jacket. Along the way, they drew envious glances and teasing remarks from nearby alphas until a drill instructor barked at them, silencing the crowd.
Of course, envy often bred jealousy. Bai Xia didn’t need to look around to know those alphas were glaring daggers at her. If no one else were around, she was sure they’d dig a hole and bury her on the spot.
Goosebumps rose on Bai Xia’s back, and she sneezed several times along the way. Only after leaving the field did it finally stop.
“Y-You caught a cold?” Chu Nanqiao asked with concern, watching her sneeze repeatedly.
Bai Xia rubbed her nose dismissively. “No, don’t worry about me. I’m pretty healthy.”
Healthy my—
She almost thought, This is all your fault! But on second thought, Chu Nanqiao couldn’t help how she looked. Appearance was inherited, there was no changing it short of plastic surgery. And who would go under the knife when they were already fine-looking? That’d just be asking for trouble!
Bai Xia sighed. Since she couldn’t blame Chu Nanqiao, she could only blame herself. She really should’ve just run away earlier then she wouldn’t be in this mess.
Wait, no. Saving Chu Nanqiao at the bar shouldn’t have caused this much trouble. The real person to blame was Xu Mo, that walking disaster!
How was she supposed to survive at school now?!
With so many alphas eyeing Chu Nanqiao, they’d tear her apart sooner or later!
The thought made Bai Xia’s heart weep.
Chu Nanqiao didn’t know what she was thinking, but seeing Bai Xia crying one moment and laughing the next, she suspected this alpha might not just have physiological issues her brain might be seriously messed up too, and in urgent need of medical attention. For a moment, she even doubted whether her own eyes were failing her.
Unable to hold back any longer, Chu Nanqiao hesitantly asked, “Y-you, what’s wrong? Are you sick here?”
Not content with just saying it, she even pointed deliberately at her own head. Bai Xia instantly understood what she meant but couldn’t outright lose her temper. She could only narrow her eyes and reply, “Junior, you’ve got quite the sense of humor.”
Chu Nanqiao pretended not to catch on, staring at her with an innocent expression. “Wh-what’s wrong? Did I say something wrong? Y-you can just tell me. I can apologize!”
