Strategy to Tame My Dimwitted Older Sister A - Chapter 50
Bai Xia certainly wasn’t going to let her off so easily. If it had been herself in this situation, Bai Xia might have brushed it off just pretended not to hear it. But since the one being bullied was Chu Nanqiao, she couldn’t tolerate it.
“You don’t need to apologize to me,” Bai Xia said, turning to pull Chu Nanqiao forward. She fixed a stern gaze on the female alpha. “You need to apologize to her. Whatever attitude you had toward her just now, you’d better double the sincerity in your apology now. Otherwise, this matter isn’t over today!”
Seeing Bai Xia’s unyielding stance, the female alpha could tell she wasn’t someone to be trifled with. Though still resentful, she had no choice but to compromise to avoid escalating the situation.
“I’m sorry, junior. It was my fault earlier. I apologize.”
“Too quiet. She can’t hear you,” Bai Xia said deliberately.
The female alpha gave her a disbelieving look.
But Bai Xia ignored it completely and repeated, “Your voice is too soft. She can’t hear you. Can you speak louder? It’s not like you haven’t eaten.”
The female alpha wasn’t fooled she knew Bai Xia was doing this on purpose. She turned to Chu Nanqiao and asked, “Junior, you definitely heard me, right?”
At this distance, Chu Nanqiao absolutely could hear her. There was no need for a repeat. But opportunities where Bai Xia would stand up for her like this were rare. Letting it go now would be such a waste. So Chu Nanqiao played along, stammering, “S-senior, I r-really didn’t hear… what you said?”
The female alpha glared at her. Chu Nanqiao wasn’t afraid, but she still instinctively hid behind Bai Xia.
Xu Mo, seeing this, added fuel to the fire from the sidelines. “Hey, why are you shouting so loud? You’re scaring her, don’t you realize that?!”
With so many onlookers around, the female alpha knew Bai Xia and the others were deliberately teaming up to humiliate her. But since she was the one in the wrong to begin with, she had no choice but to swallow her pride.
Raising her voice, the female alpha said, “Junior, I’m sorry. It was my fault earlier. I shouldn’t have spread rumors or intimidated you. I know I was wrong, and I sincerely apologize. I hope you can forgive me.”
After saying this, she turned to Bai Xia. “I’ve apologized. Is this enough now?”
Bai Xia ignored her and instead asked Chu Nanqiao, “Do you forgive her? Don’t be afraid, I’m here. If you don’t want to forgive her, you don’t have to force yourself. Just leave it to me.”
Chu Nanqiao was deeply moved. Normally, she would have made sure this alpha paid for her actions. But she didn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble for Bai Xia, so she let it go.
“If she’s sincerely apologized then it’s fine.”
Bai Xia pressed again, “Are you really okay with this?”
Chu Nanqiao nodded.
It didn’t matter what happened to her. But Bai Xia was different. She couldn’t stand the thought of Bai Xia being deliberately targeted, nor could she tolerate people gossiping about Bai Xia behind her back because of her.
Seeing Chu Nanqiao dazed and silent, Bai Xia thought she was still shaken. She lowered her voice and asked again, “You don’t have to be scared. If you feel her apology isn’t enough, I’ll make her apologize in whatever way you want. She was the one at fault, you don’t need to worry about anything else.”
Chu Nanqiao shook her head, “I’m really fine. Li Ran already apologized. Where it is possible to be forgiving, be forgiving. Let’s just… leave it at that for now.”
Seeing her insistence, Bai Xia didn’t press the matter further with the other party. She took Chu Nanqiao’s hand and led her toward her dorm.
Behind them, a group of alphas jeered, though most felt deeply unsettled. After all, an omega like Chu Nanqiao was rare and hard to come by she was the dream omega for most alphas at the school. What’s more, the school had far more alphas than omegas. To have someone swoop in before they even had a chance to pursue her left them all with a lingering sense of resentment.
But resentment aside, one look at Chu Nanqiao’s expression made it clear they had no chance left. All they could do was silently envy from afar.
Bai Xia could clearly feel the burning gazes of envy from behind her, and she couldn’t help but feel a secret thrill. However, the thought of what had just happened with that female alpha quickly dampened her mood. She didn’t even want to imagine what that alpha might have done to Chu Nanqiao if she hadn’t coincidentally been nearby.
Would she have forced Chu Nanqiao to submit using her pheromones?
Or made her go into heat in public, humiliating her?
Whichever it might have been, Bai Xia couldn’t bear the thought. Someone as proud as Chu Nanqiao, how could she endure such disgrace?
So, along with her secret delight, Bai Xia also felt a surge of anger.
Once she pulled Chu Nanqiao into her dorm, she scolded her harshly, “Do you have any idea how dangerous it is for an omega to come up here alone? And an unmarked omega at that! What if something had happened today and we weren’t here?!”
Chu Nanqiao, caught off guard by the reprimand, blinked at Bai Xia in surprise before lowering her head and pouting. “I didn’t mean to. But she was spreading rumors about you.”
After saying this, she lifted her head again and tugged lightly at Bai Xia’s sleeve, her voice softening into a coaxing tone. “I know… it was reckless of me. But I won’t do it again, okay? Xiaxia, don’t be mad, please?”
Bai Xia was still furious. The consequences if she hadn’t been there were unthinkable. “Don’t act so impulsively next time, got it?!”
Chu Nanqiao nodded obediently.
Xu Mo, Lin Fei, and □□ stood silently to the side, listening to the lecture while occasionally making odd noises. It wasn’t until later that they realized they were acting like three massive, glaringly obvious third wheels bright, in the way, and utterly unnecessary.
The three of them had intended to step out to give the pair some space, but Bai Xia ordered them to stay. Even if Chu Nanqiao had gotten permission from the dorm supervisor to come upstairs, the upper floors were still entirely populated by alphas. There was always the risk of running into one in the middle of their rut, which would be a huge problem.
To be safe, Bai Xia decided to keep it brief and send Chu Nanqiao back as soon as possible.
But just as she was about to speak, a knock came at the door.
Assuming it was the dorm supervisor or their advisor, they hurried to answer.
To their surprise, it was Ruan Manxiang.
And standing beside her was another unfamiliar alpha.
Instinctively, Bai Xia moved to shield Chu Nanqiao behind her and feigned ignorance. “Can I help you with something, classmate?”
Ruan Manxiang didn’t speak, her gaze fixed intently on Chu Nanqiao behind Bai Xia. Instead, the female alpha beside her was the one who answered.
“It’s perfectly normal that you don’t know us. As long as Nanqiao knows Manxiang, that’s enough.”
After saying this, she even called out to Chu Nanqiao: “Right, Nanqiao?”
Chu Nanqiao clutched Bai Xia’s clothes tightly, trying to hide behind her while whispering for Bai Xia to send Ruan Manxiang and her companion away.
Bai Xia actually had an indescribable feeling about Ruan Manxiang at this moment. In her past life, the opportunity to meet Ruan Manxiang had been when Chu Nanqiao came looking for her, it could be understood that Ruan Manxiang had been following Chu Nanqiao at the time. But now, things were different. Chu Nanqiao had been brought back to the dorm by her, and Ruan Manxiang had no idea where she was, yet she had managed to find them with pinpoint accuracy. It was obvious she had someone tailing them.
This made Bai Xia extremely unhappy. “So? What do you want to say by coming here?”
The female alpha was about to say something, but Ruan Manxiang cut in first: “Don’t misunderstand, fellow student. Let me introduce myself.”
Bai Xia found her voice grating and interrupted directly, “Sorry, but I’m not interested in who you are. I just want to know why you’re here. If there’s nothing important, you two can leave now.”
Ruan Manxiang unconsciously clenched her fist, worried her true intentions might be exposed, but quickly relaxed it, forcing a polite smile. “It’s like this Qiaoqiao and I know each other. I heard an alpha was about to make a move on her, so I rushed over immediately. It’s such a relief to see she’s fine.”
“And?”
“We just came to check on Qiaoqiao. That’s all.”
“Well, you’ve seen her. She’s fine. You can leave now.”
“…”
Ruan Manxiang could tell from Bai Xia’s attitude that she wasn’t planning to let Chu Nanqiao speak with her today.
But Bai Xia had never met her before this kind of hostility shouldn’t be directed at her, should it?
Had Chu Nanqiao been whispering things about her to Bai Xia?
A sudden sense of crisis washed over Ruan Manxiang, and she instantly regarded Bai Xia with hostility. “Fellow student, you might not be aware of the relationship between Qiaoqiao and me. The Chu and Ruan families have always been on friendly terms, and I’ve always treated Qiaoqiao like a younger sister. So, isn’t it only natural for me to care about her?”
Bai Xia couldn’t refute this. If she kept refusing, Ruan Manxiang might start suspecting something. So, Bai Xia decided this was the perfect moment for Xu Mo to step in.
“Hmm.”
Bai Xia gave Xu Mo a meaningful look.
Xu Mo understood immediately.
But even without the hint, Xu Mo would have known what to do.
Trying to steal her best friend’s omega? She’d have to see if Xu Mo allowed it first!
“So, you’re from the Ruan family? I remember the Ruan and Chu families aren’t that close,” Xu Mo said leisurely, walking over and eyeing Ruan Manxiang up and down with a smirk. “Also, our junior here doesn’t have any sisters. What’s wrong with you, insisting on playing the role of an older sister?”
The female alpha beside Ruan Manxiang flared up instantly. “And who are you? What does this have to do with you?!”
Xu Mo clicked her tongue and looked up at Ruan Manxiang. “Is this your friend? Or just your lackey?”
The female alpha was so furious she was about to step forward and throw hands, but was stopped by □□. “Listen, if you’re thinking of starting a fight, you might want to consider the consequences. Four against two are you really sure you two can take us? As for what Xiaomo just said, I think she was right. And as for your question earlier, do we really need to ask who she is when we’re all in the same dorm?”
Seeing the situation escalate, Ruan Manxiang quickly pulled the female alpha aside. “Sorry, that’s not what she meant. Don’t misunderstand, both of you. What I meant was—”
“Who cares what you meant?” Xu Mo sneered sarcastically. “You know exactly what you’re thinking. If you didn’t mean anything by it, great. But if you did well, too bad. You picked the wrong person to mess with.”
