Strategy to Tame My Dimwitted Older Sister A - Chapter 28
The trio knew they were in the wrong and were thoroughly cowed. When Bai Xia spoke like this, they didn’t dare talk back and obediently kept their mouths shut.
Ding-dong-ding—
Soon, the class bell rang, and all the students took their seats.
Just to be safe, Bai Xia decided to give these three troublemakers one last warning. “Final reminder, if you three don’t keep proper watch this time and I get caught by the teacher, don’t blame me for not holding back!”
The three troublemakers nodded obediently.
However, having learned her lesson once, Bai Xia still couldn’t let her guard down. As the saying goes, “Trust in heaven and earth, but rely on yourself.” Besides, in her entire dorm including herself there wasn’t a single reliable person. It was truly a case of “birds of a feather flock together.”
No one would even believe it if she told them!
Bai Xia sighed helplessly.
She glanced down at her phone and noticed that Chu Nanqiao had sent her several messages at some point.
[Are you in class right now?]
[Do you have time to talk to me?]
[You promised me, you’re treating me to a meal today. Don’t you dare go back on your word!]
[Why aren’t you answering me? Are you planning to renege again?]
[Figures. All you alphas are the same only sweet-talking in the moment, then turning your backs afterward. So shameless!]
[If you don’t reply to me right now, I’ll expose all the bad things you’ve done on the school forum. You’ll never be able to hold your head up in this school again, and every omega will despise you!]
What an unreasonable little tyrant.
Bai Xia had a massive headache. She really wanted to just block him outright, but with Chu Nanqiao’s spoiled young master temperament, the kind who meant every word he said, what else could she do but try to placate him?
[Young Master Chu, I’m in class right now. If the teacher catches me slacking off, our dinner plans will be ruined.]
[The teacher hasn’t noticed yet, has they? That’s just an excuse!]
Bai Xia: “…”
Heavens, what sins did she commit in her past life to deserve this treatment now?
Don’t get angry, don’t get angry, no one will take care of you if you ruin your own health.
Bai Xia took a deep breath and slowly typed out a reply.
[Look, Young Master Chu, if I really get caught by the teacher, it’s over. You can forget about that meal altogether.]
[What do you?]
[No, no, I mean, what I promised you, I’ll definitely deliver. But you have no idea how terrifying our teacher is. If I get caught, I’ll be spending the next few days in the faculty office.]
[That serious?]
[Yes, exactly that serious.]
Chu Nanqiao had just started university and wasn’t familiar with how things worked yet. In high school, if a teacher caught you slacking off, they’d love to call your parents so much so that he’d once considered buying out the entire school just to shut those annoying teachers up.
But university had to be different. A single professor had to manage so many classes, if they called parents for every little thing, they’d exhaust themselves to death.
Besides, they were all adults now. Unless there was some extreme circumstance, calling parents would just prove how incompetent the teacher was.
[Fine, I’ll let it slide this time.]
[But if you dare lie to me, you’ll pay for it!]
Bai Xia sighed helplessly again.
How had she never noticed in her past life that Chu Nanqiao had such a terrible temper?
If she’d known, she would’ve run as far away as possible, there wouldn’t have been any stabbing incident later.
But then again, if she had known in her past life, she probably wouldn’t have gotten to know Chu Nanqiao in the first place.
Some things were just destined to happen.
Bai Xia didn’t want to admit it, but facts were facts. No matter how many times she relived it, she would still run into Chu Nanqiao and still end up saving her in the same bar.
This was a kind of “fate” that couldn’t be changed, no matter how many times she started over.
“Xia Xia, why are you sighing like that for no reason?” Xiao Xiao leaned over to peek at her.
Bai Xia immediately turned off her screen, trying to cover it up. “Can’t I just complain to myself? And why are you staring at me instead of the teacher?!”
Xiao Xiao awkwardly lifted her head, guilt written all over her face. “I am watching! It’s just that you kept sighing, so I thought something was bothering you and wanted to cheer you up. And now you’re scolding me? So ungrateful, my poor heart, boohoo!”
Bai Xia knew these three troublemakers all too well. They acted all pitiful on the surface, pretending to care, but in reality, they were just looking for an excuse to stir up trouble. She saw right through them!
“Hmph, really?”
“Xia Xia, don’t you trust me?”
“Can I even trust you guys?”
“Of course! Why not?”
Xiao Xiao’s voice carried a hint of guilt. “We made a pact, we share the good and the bad. If something’s bothering you, of course the three of us would care!”
Bai Xia wasn’t buying it. “More like, ‘Friends are like birds in the forest when disaster strikes, they scatter!’ I know exactly what you three are scheming. Now get back to keeping watch!”
Seeing she couldn’t weasel her way out, Xiao Xiao obediently lifted her head.
Just then, Xu Mo suddenly asked, “Oh yeah, it’s Friday. No classes in the afternoon where are you guys planning to eat after school?”
The four of them usually ate together in the cafeteria, but Fridays were different. Afternoon on Friday was basically the weekend, and after four days of cafeteria food, they needed a change of taste.
So on Fridays, they usually went out to eat, picking up some groceries and snacks along the way.
Lin Fei was the first to speak up. “Me! Me! I want to go out and eat, then hit the mall. Who’s coming with me?!”
Xu Mo slowly raised her hand. “Fei Fei, I’ll go with you!”
Xiao Xiao said, “My parents asked me to go home and help this afternoon, so I can’t join you. Have fun, though! Oh, and buy lots of snacks, I’ll pay you back when we get back for the weekend.”
That left Bai Xia.
Xu Mo found it odd. “Xia Xia, your turn. Are you coming with us for lunch? Huh, that’s weird you’re usually the most eager about this stuff. What’s up today?”
What else could it be? If she hadn’t promised to treat Chu Nanqiao to lunch, she’d have happily gone out with them to have fun!
But she couldn’t tell Xu Mo and the others about the lunch. Those three had mouths like village gossips once they started talking, she’d be the talk of the school by the end of the day!
She’d just have to make something up.
Bai Xia said without blushing or her heart racing, “The teacher needs to see me about something later, so you two go ahead and stroll around. And while you’re at it, grab me something to eat!”
Xu Mo grew increasingly suspicious but didn’t call her out right away. Her eyes flickered as if she’d thought of something, and the corners of her lips curled slightly. “Alright then. After school, Lin Fei and I will go together. If there’s anything you want, just message me on WeChat.”
Bai Xia nodded, immediately letting out a sigh of relief.
