Strategy to Tame My Dimwitted Older Sister A - Chapter 27
“See? You can’t even say what you did wrong, which means you’re not sincerely apologizing at all!”
“Uh!”
“Look at you, ignoring me again. Feeling guilty, aren’t you? I knew it, you alphas are all the same, not a single honest word comes out of your mouths!”
“Ah, well!”
Bai Xia stood up and roughly ran a hand through her hair, suddenly feeling like she was trying to reason with an unreasonable little brat, one who just wouldn’t listen. The worst part? This so-called “little brat” was already a grown college freshman!
No, this wasn’t just a little brat anymore this was a full-blown man-child!
And not just any man-child, but the kind who “never grew out of breastfeeding”!
Bai Xia hated dealing with questions like this. If she could just surrender outright, she’d be more than happy to, it would save her a lot of trouble, spare her from pointless overthinking, and free her from all this tedious back-and-forth. But if she had to put up a fight? She’d rather die.
“Hey, junior, maybe you should calm down a little first?”
“Say that again!”
“As long as you’re happy.”
“What do you mean, ‘as long as you’re happy’? Is that any way to apologize to someone?!”
Chu Nanqiao was so furious she wished she could reach through the phone and drag Bai Xia out to give her a beating. The more she thought about it, the more convinced she became Bai Xia was just so stupid. Would any omega even want an alpha like her in the future?
Wait, no Bai Xia could only be hers. If any omega dared try to take her away, she wouldn’t allow it!
The two of them remained locked in this stalemate for a while, neither sending another message. After stewing in her thoughts, Chu Nanqiao began to feel like she might have gone too far. If she kept acting this unreasonable, Bai Xia might really stop talking to her altogether. So she decided to switch tactics.
“Fine, I’ll forgive you but only if you take me out to eat. Just the two of us, no one else!”
Bai Xia was puzzled. Just a moment ago, Chu Nanqiao had been grilling her about what she’d done wrong, how had she changed her mind so quickly?
Was this the legendary “mood swings faster than flipping a book”?
But no matter what, since Chu Nanqiao was willing to compromise, Bai Xia knew that if she kept pushing back, things would only get worse. So she played along.
“No problem!”
“Where do you want to go? You pick anywhere you like!”
“If there’s anything specific you’re craving, just let me know in advance. That way, I can tell the server right away and we won’t waste any time!”
Tch.
She agreed way too fast.
Chu Nanqiao rolled her eyes so hard they nearly disappeared into the back of her skull, but there was nothing she could do. Bai Xia had already agreed, so she had no choice but to go along with it. Dealing with a dense alpha like Bai Xia required patience she couldn’t rush this.
And so, it was settled.
However, Chu Nanqiao didn’t specify where she wanted to eat, leaving Bai Xia to figure it out on her own. She tried recalling what Chu Nanqiao had liked in their past life, but the only thing that came to mind was her obsession with bubble tea.
But they were supposed to have a proper meal, no matter how much Chu Nanqiao loved bubble tea, she couldn’t just drink it for dinner. One meal like that, and her blood sugar would skyrocket.
Bai Xia had no intention of ending up in a hospital bed at such a young age. There were still so many fun things left to experience in life this was not the way.
Bai Xia thought about sending a message to Chu Nanqiao to ask if there was any particular restaurant he wanted to try. But then it occurred to her that Chu Nanqiao was probably still angry right now, and even if she asked, he likely wouldn’t reply. Moreover, she worried that if she did ask, there was a chance Chu Nanqiao might suddenly change his mind and she definitely didn’t want to get entangled in that mess again.
After some deliberation, Bai Xia decided to wait until tomorrow.
Tomorrow was Friday, a delightful day.
Her class schedule wasn’t too heavy either just three lectures in total, all of them relatively unimportant public courses. Bai Xia arrived earlier than usual, not for any particular reason, if she came late, she’d have to sit in the front row, which meant she wouldn’t be able to happily scroll through her phone.
Thus, most students tended to be even more enthusiastic about attending public lectures than they were about eating, as if sitting in the front row was some kind of torture. They practically ran as if they had four legs instead of two.
Of course, Bai Xia always managed to snag a good seat.
This time was no exception.
Once the class bell rang, Bai Xia immediately immersed herself in the digital ocean. To guard against the possibility of the professor suddenly calling on her, she turned to the girls beside her and said, “Last time, I covered for you guys. Now it’s your turn, don’t get so absorbed in your phones that you forget to keep watch!”
Xu Mo waved her hand dismissively. “Relax, Xia-jie. We’ve got six ears between the three of us. Even if we get distracted, it’s not like all six ears will go deaf at the same time, right?”
If Bai Xia didn’t live with these girls, she might have actually believed that nonsense. “Pfft, you think I still trust anything you three say? Who was it last time? Who got me nailed to the shame rack and laughed at for two whole lectures?! Huh?!”
The three of them guiltily averted their eyes.
That time, none of them had expected the professor to call on Bai Xia so coincidentally. They had been listening attentively with all six ears for the first half of the lecture, but once they thought the professor wouldn’t call on anyone else, they let their guard down. Who could’ve guessed the professor would pull such an unexpected move?
They were innocent too!!!
Xu Mo tried to console her. “That was just a slip-up. The three of us apologize. And in the end, the professor didn’t give you a hard time, right? So it all worked out fine, didn’t it?”
That was true.
Wait no, it wasn’t!
Thankfully, that professor had been nice. But what if it had been one of the stricter ones? She would’ve been completely doomed!
At the root of the problem were Xu Mo and her two troublemaking friends!
“Don’t try to twist the facts that’s not the same thing!” Bai Xia glared at the three of them. “This time, no matter what, you’d better stay two hundred percent alert. And keep your eyes on the podium! If I catch you slacking off again, I’ll sell you out every single lecture from now on until you learn your lesson!”
□□ rubbed her arm and cooed, “Xia-jie, my dearest Xia-jie, we all know you’re the best.”
Bai Xia pushed her head away. “Nope. Not the best. I’m actually super mean. I’ve leveled up now, so you’d better watch out or you never know when I might just sell you out.”
She forcefully pushed Bai Xia’s outstretched hand away, resting her head on Bai Xia’s shoulder and cooing sweetly, “Xia Xia, after all these years of friendship, sharing a room and sleeping together for so long even if there’s no romance, there’s family-like affection. Just this once, just this one time! The three of us swear this will never happen again!”
“Bullshit!” Bai Xia wouldn’t budge an inch. “If I believed the three of you could keep that promise, pigs would fly!”
“…”
Xu Mo: “…”
Lin Fei: “…”
