Strategy to Tame My Dimwitted Older Sister A - Chapter 20
The month-long military training passed quickly, and Bai Xia’s role as a temporary counselor came to a successful conclusion. On the day of the final meeting, all the counselors treated everyone to milk tea and a meal, ensuring a pleasant farewell.
Bai Xia had initially planned to drink her milk tea right away, but for some reason, she suddenly thought of Chu Nanqiao, who particularly loved this brand of milk tea and decided to save it for her instead.
Before long, everyone finished their meals and left, as they all had their own matters to attend to. Only Bai Xia remained.
She ate slowly or, more accurately, she had little appetite today. She simply wanted to sit in the cafeteria for a while. As for why she felt so listless, even she didn’t know. Normally, she disliked the atmosphere of the cafeteria, not because of the noise she had been in far noisier places but simply because she didn’t like it. People were strange that way; dislikes didn’t always need a reason.
Absentmindedly picking at her food while scrolling through her phone, Bai Xia still couldn’t understand why Chu Nanqiao, despite having added her on WeChat, hadn’t sent her a single message in the past two weeks.
Had she been too confident all along? Maybe Chu Nanqiao had never really cared about her, and everything had just been in her head.
Bai Xia couldn’t figure it out, so she eventually gave up. If Chu Nanqiao wasn’t going to reach out, that was even better. She wouldn’t have to worry about Chu Nanqiao stabbing her in the back anymore.
That was truly a relief.
But just as the thought crossed her mind, a familiar voice sounded behind her.
Bai Xia felt an inexplicable surge of excitement. She turned her head sharply and met Chu Nanqiao’s large, glistening eyes.
“C-Can I sit h-here?”
Surprised and delighted, Bai Xia quickly replied, “Of course! Everyone else has left. Go ahead.”
Chu Nanqiao obediently set her tray down. Perhaps because the seat looked a little dirty from the previous occupant, she didn’t sit immediately. Instead, she pulled a pack of tissues from her pocket and meticulously wiped the seat until it gleamed before smoothing her skirt and sitting down.
“I thought they wiped the seats clean before they left. Was it still dirty?”
Chu Nanqiao froze for a moment, then explained seriously, “I-I have o-OCD. Is th-that not allowed?!”
Bai Xia chuckled. “Of course, it’s allowed. Everyone has their own habits. Wipe as much as you want.”
Once seated, Chu Nanqiao immediately noticed the milk tea on Bai Xia’s table, her eyes lighting up. “D-Did you j-just stand in l-line for that?”
Only then did Bai Xia realize what she was asking. “Oh, this? The counselors treated us to a meal and bought everyone milk tea. I was too full to drink mine. Why, do you want it?”
Chu Nanqiao stared at the milk tea in a daze before nodding. “Are you g-giving it t-to me?”
Bai Xia had saved it for her in the first place and had been struggling to find a reason to give it to her. This was perfect. “If you like it, you can have it. But finish your meal first. Mixing food and drinks isn’t good for your stomach.”
Chu Nanqiao took the milk tea with a smile, looking up at Bai Xia. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Bai Xia had deliberately saved the milk tea for her, yet she had no concrete evidence to prove it. If she had misinterpreted the gesture, it would just be her reading too much into things something she absolutely refused to do lightly.
