Strategy to Tame My Dimwitted Older Sister A - Chapter 2
“Don’t go too far.”
A cold voice rang out, causing the surrounding alphas to look up. They were about to warn the speaker not to meddle, but the moment they laid eyes on Bai Xia, they froze in place not for any other reason than the fact that Bai Xia was simply too good-looking.
But “good-looking” didn’t quite capture it. It was more like a perfect blend of beauty and striking presence. Due to innate genetic traits, alphas were naturally more robust in build and stature compared to ordinary people, making most alphas appear tall and imposing. Male alphas could pull this off without seeming out of place, but female alphas didn’t have that luxury. As a result, whenever female alphas were mentioned, opinions were divided some thought they were unattractive, others found their appearance jarring. In short, there was no shortage of criticism. But a female alpha like Bai Xia, whose beauty and proportions were so flawlessly balanced, was exceedingly rare, almost to the point of being one in a million.
She could easily rival the natural beauty of an omega, and in some ways, she was even more pleasing to the eye than an omega.
Feeling the gazes of the surrounding alphas fixated on her, Bai Xia shuddered internally, her skin crawling. But to maintain her usual aloof persona, she clenched her fist and coughed lightly against her lips before saying, “Know your limits. Don’t make things ugly, it won’t end well for anyone.”
Xu Mo stood behind her, suddenly peeking half her head out. A moment later, her other arm followed, holding up her phone. “You’d better stop right now. I’ve recorded everything that just happened. The law states that if an alpha harasses an omega against their will, the consequences are far worse than just a few days in detention. Think carefully.”
Perhaps genuinely afraid that Xu Mo would call the police, the surrounding alphas backed off.
The female alpha Bai Xia had shoved aside, however, clearly wasn’t willing to let it go. She stood rooted in place, glaring at Bai Xia with such intensity it seemed she wanted nothing more than to lunge forward and take a bite out of her.
But Bai Xia had never been one to back down from a challenge especially not in a staring contest.
Unsurprisingly, her sharp gaze eventually made the other alpha falter. The woman lowered her head and slunk back to her original seat at the bar.
At this point, Bai Xia felt she had done enough. She had driven away the alpha who had been harassing Chu Nanqiao. Whatever happened next was no longer her concern. If she walked away now, there would be no further entanglement between her and Chu Nanqiao, and none of what followed would ever happen.
Before she could finish that thought, Bai Xia felt someone tugging at her hand soft, plump fingers gripping her tightly, like the velvety paws of her big orange tabby at home. The sensation was so comforting it melted her heart.
Wait, why was she feeling like this?
And why did this touch feel so familiar?
It couldn’t be…
Bai Xia slowly turned her head and immediately froze in place.
Chu Nanqiao wasn’t just holding her hand, she was clutching it with both hands, gripping so tightly it was as if she was afraid Bai Xia would run away.
“You, you, no, can’t leave.” Chu Nanqiao stammered, “Out, outside, it’s, it’s raining. I, I, I…”
Before she could finish, Bai Xia interrupted her.
But it wasn’t intentional. Bai Xia had known from her past life that while Chu Nanqiao was undeniably beautiful, her one flaw was her severe stutter whether it was innate or acquired, no one knew. While others could speak ten sentences, Chu Nanqiao might barely manage one, and even that could drive people mad with impatience.
“Get to the point.”
“I, I, I didn’t bring an umbrella. C-could you, walk me home?”
Bai Xia covered her eyes, wanting to bolt. Admittedly, Chu Nanqiao’s stuttering was truly despair-inducing. But when she spoke, those big, dewy eyes of hers were exactly like her fat cat at home begging for treats, letting out a single “meow” before falling silent, then staring with wide eyes, occasionally reaching out a paw to nudge you. It was impossible to refuse!
How infuriating, using this trick against her.
Absolutely infuriating!
But infuriating as it was, Bai Xia was completely weak to Chu Nanqiao’s tactics.
With a resigned sigh, Bai Xia turned around. “Didn’t you come with a friend? Have them take you home. Wait, where’s your friend? How could they just abandon you here alone!”
Chu Nanqiao whispered, “Sh-she, she’s not my friend. I, I paid her to come with me.”
She paid someone to bring her to a bar?
Was she out of her mind?!
Bai Xia screamed internally. In her past life, she’d interacted with Chu Nanqiao quite a bit. The woman seemed so intelligent, how could she keep doing such stupid things?!
Taking a deep breath, Bai Xia asked, “You’re an omega. On a night like this, instead of staying home, you paid a stranger to bring you to a bar? If I hadn’t been here today, you’d have been devoured alive! Not to be harsh, but do you have so much money you don’t know what to do with it? If you’re going to hire someone, at least find someone reliable! The moment trouble hit, she vanished. Should I call you dumb or just plain stupid?”
“You, you, you!”
“Enough with the ‘you you you.’ Do you have your phone?”
“My, my phone was taken.”
“What?! Shouldn’t your phone be in your hand?!”
Bai Xia was genuinely furious. If it weren’t for Xu Mo’s presence, she’d have already unleashed a scolding. “What’s your home number? I’ll call your family to come pick you up.”
She actually knew Chu Nanqiao’s home number from her past life. Back then, after their encounter in this very bar, perhaps out of gratitude for saving her, Chu Nanqiao had given her the number, saying that if Bai Xia ever needed help, she could call it and someone would come immediately. Not that Bai Xia ever used it.
But strangely, the plot seemed slightly altered this time around. Chu Nanqiao’s phone had been taken by the person she’d paid to accompany her, forcing Bai Xia to ask for the number herself. Whether this subtle change would lead to something good or bad remained to be seen.
“Here, take my phone. Call them yourself.”
Chu Nanqiao looked at the phone being handed to her but didn’t take it immediately. Instead, she hesitated. After a long pause, she finally said, “I, I don’t want the phone. I just want you to to take me home.”
Huh?
She didn’t want the phone, she wanted her to take her home?
But just moments ago, she had already decided not to have any further interactions with Chu Nanqiao!
Once you say something, you absolutely can’t take it back!
“You, you don’t want to?” Chu Nanqiao said pitifully. “Then, I’ll just go home alone.”
“How could that be, okay?!”
“Then, then you’re agreeing to take me home!”
“…” She never said that, ahhh!
