Strategy to Tame My Dimwitted Older Sister A - Chapter 12
“I need to head back,” Bai Xia said seriously. “The advisor specifically told me not to stay away from the freshmen group for too long. I’ve already messaged the senior in charge of your class, he’ll come find you soon.”
Chu Nanqiao felt a pang of disappointment. Despite her anger, she didn’t actually want Bai Xia to leave. She just wanted an apology. But she couldn’t think of any reason to make Bai Xia stay for her sake.
“Then… will we… see each other again?”
“What, you’re reluctant to let me go?”
Caught off guard, Chu Nanqiao’s face flushed instantly, and she immediately denied it. “I’m not! Don’t flatter yourself!”
Fair point. With Chu Nanqiao’s looks and status, if she were to look for an alpha, it definitely wouldn’t be someone like Bai Xia. She really was overestimating herself.
But Bai Xia wasn’t thinking along those lines either. She wasn’t particularly interested in such matters, she just occasionally liked to tease for the sake of banter. Most of the time, it was just playful talk, and anyone who had spent time with her knew that. Which was exactly why people often wanted to strangle her.
Of course, the only reason she was still alive and kicking was because others went easy on her.
“Alright, I’ll go with you to the infirmary. I’ll leave once he arrives.”
She still wasn’t comfortable leaving Chu Nanqiao alone. After all, she was the one who brought her here she had to take responsibility until the end.
Chu Nanqiao nodded absentmindedly, her face clearly sulking.
But this alpha was completely oblivious to her feelings, how infuriating!
The two walked side by side under the umbrella, each lost in their own thoughts, a striking alpha and a stunning omega, forming a moving 5A-level scenic spot on campus. Passersby, whether students or others, couldn’t help but pause to admire them. Yet no one dared to ask for their contact information. Most assumed the two were a couple, at most wanting to take a photo with one of them before blushing and scurrying away.
At school, there was an unspoken understanding: if an alpha was accompanied by an omega, no one would question their relationship. It was generally assumed they were together unless confirmed otherwise later, at which point someone might pursue one of them or at least test the waters to get their contact info.
In short, no one would foolishly provoke an alpha when they were with an omega. It was seen as a blatant challenge, and in most cases, it would lead to a fight.
Bai Xia was used to this kind of situation and didn’t react much. Back when she was new, she might’ve tried to keep up appearances and explain to avoid tarnishing an omega’s reputation. But now, as a seasoned veteran, her expression control was flawless. If the omega didn’t mind, she couldn’t be bothered to explain because in the eyes of some shippers, explanations were just excuses.
The more you explained, the messier it got. Better to just act natural whether they were a couple or not would become clear soon enough.
In the end, she still didn’t give Chu Nanqiao her WeChat. After the male alpha student in charge of Chu Nanqiao’s class arrived, she simply opened her umbrella and left. She didn’t even get to drink the milk tea, she had no intention of provoking the instructor. Having barely survived that ordeal back then, the thought of reliving it was worse than death to her.
As a result, the milk tea traveled with Bai Xia from the infirmary to the field, then back to the dorm, but it never made it into her stomach. The moment she stepped into the dorm, Xu Mo, that traitor, snatched it away.
“You have the nerve to drink my milk tea?!” Bai Xia hurled a pillow straight at her. “Screwing me over is one thing, but stealing my milk tea? Xu Mo, you shameless woman!”
Xu Mo hadn’t expected the truth to come out so quickly. She’d hoped to keep it under wraps for a few more days, but knowing she was in the wrong, her voice dropped several notches. “Xia Xia, don’t be mad yet, just listen to me.”
“Listen to my ass! Get the hell away from me! And don’t you dare say another word!”
“Sis Xia~”
Bai Xia’s entire body broke out in goosebumps. Despite the sweltering heat outside, that sickeningly sweet voice made her feel like she’d been thrown into an ice cellar. “Ugh, stop it! Can’t you, an alpha, talk like a normal person?!”
Xu Mo chewed on the boba pearls, mumbling, “What’s wrong with alphas? Alphas are people too! Who isn’t a little princess at heart? Besides, an alpha acting cute is a rare treasure, once in a century! Doesn’t that prove how pure and sincere I am? Look how good I usually am to you, right? Admit it!”
Bai Xia couldn’t help rolling her eyes. “You? Pure and sincere? Once in a century? Pfft! You scheming rat, don’t think I don’t know you sneak under your blankets every night reading smutty comics, giggling like a creep. If you’re pure, then the whole world’s full of babies. Stop changing the subject, this isn’t up for discussion. I’m never forgiving you!”
Xu Mo knew she’d messed up, but this time, it wasn’t intentional. There was a reason, one she couldn’t explain to Bai Xia. “Sis Xia, my dearest Sis Xia, I know you’re the best. I really didn’t mean to trick you…”
Bai Xia cut her off. “Oh, so it wasn’t ‘on purpose,’ it was ‘deliberate,’ huh?”
“No way! This time, I had no choice! Believe me, Xia Xia, there’s a real reason! I swear!”
“Swear my ass! Can oaths fill your stomach? Cut the crap. If there’s a reason, spit it out now. Otherwise, get lost!”
Xu Mo sighed helplessly, then had a sudden idea. “Well, I just thought that junior was a perfect match for you! I assumed she was from another school, but turns out she’s not only at ours but even in the same department. I wanted to play matchmaker! You know how rare an omega with looks like hers is in this school.”
“Keep lying! Do I look like an idiot to you?”
“Okay, okay, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have tricked you into taking my place. You’re magnanimous forgive little old me just this once?”
“I don’t want to hear any of that. The reason?”
“…”
Bai Xia stared at her intently, one hand propping up her chin while the other occasionally tapped the table, as if interrogating a suspect. Her gaze was sharp, her expression stern, there wasn’t a trace of joking in her demeanor.
Xu Mo grew even more uneasy, her eyes darting around the dorm room, deliberately avoiding Bai Xia’s piercing stare.
“The. Reason!”
“The reason is…”
“Is what?”
“My dearest Sister Xia, could you please stop asking? I really have my reasons, and I never expected she’d be studying here too!”
Bai Xia seemed to catch a whiff of gossip. “‘She’? Who? Speak clearly. You’re the suspect here are you whispering for the mosquitoes to hear?”
