- Shocking! The Protagonist of the Mpreg Story Is a Straight Man
- Chapter 1 - Day 1 of the Runaway Pregnancy
The gymnasium at ten o’clock in the evening was exceptionally silent.
Only the splashing of water in the pool indicated that someone was still there.
Among the many swimming lanes, one figure was the most conspicuous. His skin was pale, looking like a little white dragon in the water.
A stretch of lean, powerful waist rose and fell with his movements, his vigorous long legs coordinating with his arms. He swam both fast and gracefully; it felt as if one’s heartbeat was being pulled along by him. It was no wonder he could trigger screams from the entire audience during competitions.
A teammate stood by the edge of the pool watching for a while, only calling out a greeting once the other swam back. “Leaving now, Pei Nan! See you tomorrow!”
“See you!”
Hearing the voice, Pei Nan lifted his body out of the water, stretching his arms covered in thin muscle to wave goodbye to his teammate.
Once everyone had left, Pei Nan floated on the lane line for a while before climbing ashore, wrapping himself in a towel, and heading to the shower.
When 419 appeared, the young man was bending over in the brightly lit locker room to pack up. With a casual grab, he stuffed his training gear and goggles into his backpack.
419 circled around to observe its host this time, praising him as it looked. Pei Nan’s overall skin tone was fair yet resilient it was the top-tier physique the system had ever seen. Eight-pack abs, a mermaid line, a broad chest, a narrow waist, and an inverted triangle frame. Combined with his height of 180cm and handsome appearance, he was simply perfect!
Tears of appreciation instantly leaked from the corners of its mouth, emitting a sizzling sound of static electricity.
Pei Nan looked sharply toward the position where 419 was located, but that spot was completely empty. He frowned and stared for a while; after a long moment, thinking his ears had just gotten water in them, he muttered to himself, tilted his head to pat his ear, and quickly put the matter behind him to head back to the dorm with his backpack.
Left behind was 419, who had been flattened into a pancake by the scare, trembling for a good while before wobbling to follow him.
Just now, it had received the mission and opened it casually, only to be nearly crashed by the sheer amount of censorship mosaics. The scattered words like “mpreg” and “rabbit” made 419’s still-pure mechanical heart log crazy random codes and turn its vision pitch black. It truly wished it could pass out again.
After all, no matter how you looked at it, this host of its was the type who made others pregnant!
419 didn’t want to transfer departments anymore!
It quickly filed a report, hoping the higher-ups would grant some leeway for the sake of its good past performance. Unfortunately, in less than two minutes, the rejection text arrived. 419 had no choice but to “face the man” head-on.
The truly heartbroken and weeping 419 left a trail of sizzling static sounds, silently transforming into the protagonist of a future campus midnight ghost story.
It followed Pei Nan in a daze back to Room 410 in Building 16. After the lights went out, it spent a long time building up its mental resolve before finally summoning the courage to appear before Pei Nan.
“Host, Host…”
Pei Nan was truly exhausted after a day of training. The moment he lay down, he felt drained of energy. In a daze, he felt like someone was talking. He used all his strength to pry open one eyelid and was nearly blinded by a bright, golden glowing ball. He hastily flipped over, buried his face in the pillow, and fell fast asleep.
419: Do you want to hear some profanity?
After huffing and puffing for half the night, it finally coaxed the man into binding during his half-awake state.
The panting 419 wiped away non-existent sweat, feeling that its life was incredibly bitter. Where else would you find a system so desperate to serve? If it weren’t for the sake of going back early, it would have insisted on Pei Nan seeking it out instead! Hmph!
It skillfully comforted itself, shrunk its size, and wobbled over to rest on Pei Nan’s pectoral muscle for a nap.
419: !!!
Soft and bouncy like a marshmallow, it’s so comfortable!
Pei Nan was completely unaware of this, sleeping until the sun was high in the sky, nearly missing lunch.
When he sat up, his hair was messy and his eyes were dazed. His beautiful peach-blossom eyes were misty, and his neat teeth contrasted with his red lips. This caused 419, who had rolled off his chest, to instantly lose its temper.
How can this person be both handsome and beautiful? With looks like this, the mission might actually work!
“Host, Host! Good morning!”
Pei Nan thought he was hallucinating again; how could a cute, milky little voice appear in a male university dormitory? Just as he was about to get out of bed, a small, shimmering yellow ball floated before his eyes a miniature version of the one from his dream last night.
He first scanned the dorm. His roommate had already gone out for class; he was the only one here.
He narrowed his eyes and greeted it calmly. “System?”
“Mhm, mhm! It’s me, 419!” 419 was so delighted that the host remembered it that it flew in two circles.
In truth, Pei Nan didn’t remember much. He had only been recommended a few novels with his name in them by his high school seatmate, who had laughingly told him to memorize them. One of those genres involved systems.
Who would have thought he would actually encounter one?
Adhering to the principles that “there’s no such thing as a free lunch” and “the less said, the fewer mistakes made,” Pei Nan simply watched 419 spin in silence.
Fortunately, 419 was a proactive system. After its moment of joy, it said the first sentence that struck Pei Nan like a bolt from the blue.
“Host, this is a ‘Flower City’ (Huashi/Haitang) sub-world. We are about to start the plot!”
Pei Nan’s expression soured. Was it the “Flower City” he was thinking of?
“It’s Haitang! And our specific sector belongs to the ‘Runaway Pregnancy’ trope!”
“Impossible!” Pei Nan couldn’t help but retort. Although he had held hands and kissed girls before, he would never do something like making a girl run away with a “ball” (pregnancy). Having grown up alone with his mother, his consideration for women was not just etched in his bones but integrated into his every action.
419 felt a bit aggrieved. “But the data says so! It’s no use being mean to me; I’m here to help you. I won’t let you make someone run away with a ball!”
Pei Nan felt a flicker of guilt, which was immediately chased away by the second half of the sentence. He asked in disbelief, “Who did you say is running away with the ball?”
The human and the system fell into silence. It was clear they both felt there was a problem with this world.
“It must be a mistake,” Pei Nan said decisively. Even 419 began to waver.
Confused, it looked over the blurred mosaics again. Instinctively trusting its mission panel, it finally found a key point on the third read. “Have you had any stomach pains lately?”
Pei Nan’s heart tightened. He said impassively, “What if it hurts, and what if it doesn’t? There’s nothing wrong with my body. Why are you cursing me with illness the moment we meet? Are you systems all this impolite?”
419 was truly baffled this time. While saying sorry, it scrolled through the progress bar and checked the mosaics again. It couldn’t even control its muttering, which enveloped Pei Nan in 3D surround sound.
“That’s not right… where exactly did it go wrong? At this time, the second set of sexual characteristics in your body should be awakening. You should be turning into a ‘Double Apricot’ (intersex/hermaphrodite).”
Pei Nan was struck by a second bolt of lightning. F**, I’m growing a… what?*
He felt he had to perish together with this system today!
Just as Pei Nan was brewing a way to strike, 419 hadn’t finished muttering.
“Oh, but this shouldn’t be a big problem. Anyway, that function needs to be removed. It doesn’t matter if you have it or not.”
Pei Nan quickly hid his “system-destroying hands” behind his back. He took a deep breath and decided to see what other tricks this system had.
His gaze fell on his stomach, his expression unreadable. When the pain first started, Pei Nan had gone for a check-up, but the results showed nothing was wrong. The most recent check-up was just last week, and the result was still normal. If this system hadn’t jumped out, he really wouldn’t have known the cause. Such a miraculous thing could probably only be solved by a system. Once he figured that out, Pei Nan finally managed a slight smile.
Unaware that it had just dodged a bullet, 419 looked up and was hit by the host’s beauty, accidentally drooling and emitting sizzling static sounds again.
Pei Nan raised an eyebrow, scooped the little yellow ball in front of his eyes, and realized, “So that sound last night was you! Tell me, how do we solve this ‘runaway pregnancy’ thing?”
419 didn’t expect to be exposed so quickly. It hastily retreated into the system space to calm down. When it came out again, the static sounds were finally gone. it honestly gave the options: “Originally, it was a choice between ‘Double Apricot’ and ‘Turning into a Rabbit.’ Now, you can only turn into a rabbit. Do you want to change?”
Pei Nan hadn’t expected such an option. He really shouldn’t have had high expectations for “Flower City.” His expression shifted several times, but finally, he gritted his teeth. “Change.”
He knew if he didn’t change, it would definitely be the other path, which he couldn’t accept.
As soon as he finished speaking, fine golden light fell upon Pei Nan, and the mission officially began.
A shared panel automatically popped up, floating before Pei Nan’s eyes.
First Mission Phase: Please have the host be “picked up” and taken home by the school hunk from the neighboring university. Time limit: 30 days.
