She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 7
There was no other choice. Although it wasn’t a G-Class, compared to her little electric scooter, it was infinitely better. After checking the fuel gauge to confirm she had enough gas to drive home, Qiao Gaogao began loading her belongings into the trunk.
Just as she was packing, the man from the earlier car approached. His eyes gleamed with greed as he stared at her large bundles of supplies, though he cast a fearful glance at Yinxi.
“Hello, where are you headed? Could you give me a ride?” the man said, standing three meters away from Qiao Gaogao and her companion.
Qiao Gaogao looked up at him and shook her head. “We’re going home. I can’t exactly bring you along, so I’m sorry.”
The man studied Qiao Gaogao’s adorable doll-like face and petite, slender figure, which made her seem entirely harmless. The only thing that felt threatening was the gray-skinned zombie clinging to her. Though he couldn’t understand how the zombie coexisted peacefully with her, a zombie was still a zombie. If it scratched him, he’d be finished.
“My home is nearby. Could you please drop me off? I can pay you!” the man pleaded urgently.
Qiao Gaogao refused again. “If it’s so close, why don’t you go by yourself? If you’re too scared to go out even at this early stage, are you just going to wait around to die later?”
Qiao Gaogao was speaking the absolute truth. If someone couldn’t stand on their own, others might help temporarily, but could they help forever?
The man’s face darkened instantly. Then, eyeing the supplies beside them, he said, “Then could you spare some supplies for me? I’ll make my own way back.”
Qiao Gaogao: “???”
“Hey, you’re at a supermarket right now. If you want something, why don’t you go look for it yourself? Do you have to beg for everything from others?”
Qiao Gaogao despised people like him unwilling to take even the slightest risk, just waiting for others to hand things to them on a silver platter.
The man nodded without another word and turned to leave.
Watching him go, Qiao Gaogao frowned. She had a feeling someone like him wouldn’t give up so easily. She hurriedly packed the rest of her things into the car, filling not only the trunk but also the back seat.
The sound of a car engine starting echoed loudly through the empty underground parking garage, amplified by the space.
A bad feeling instantly washed over Qiao Gaogao. She had told Zhao Dan and the others to wait where they were. Why would they start the car without her?
“Grrr!” Yinxi let out an anxious growl.
Qiao Gaogao looked up and saw the man driving his car at high speed, heading straight for her. Behind the wheel, his expression was maniacal and vicious.
“You think you’re something? Die, die! All of you, die!”
Qiao Gaogao’s pupils contracted. Instinctively, she threw herself to the side, narrowly avoiding the speeding car. However, the car she had found wasn’t so lucky, the rear end was crushed by the violent impact.
The man, stunned by the force of the collision and the deployed airbag, slumped weakly against it.
This time, Qiao Gaogao was truly furious. Her face dark, she yanked open the driver’s door and dragged the man out.
When Zhao Dan and the others rushed over upon hearing the commotion, they saw Qiao Gaogao holding a watermelon knife, ruthlessly severing the leg the man had used to press the accelerator. Her doll-like face was covered with a ferocity that didn’t match her appearance, and she said gloomily, “Seems I’ve given you too much face.”
Yinxi was lying on Qiao Gaogao’s back. Even in such an urgent situation, Qiao Gaogao had made sure she wasn’t hurt. Now, Yinxi glared with turbid eyes, furious enough to rush down and tear the man apart herself!
“Ah!” The man screamed in agony. Seeing Qiao Gaogao’s vicious expression and Zhao Dan’s group closing in, he finally felt fear and began crying and begging for mercy.
“Miss Qiao, what happened?” Zhao Dan quickly stepped forward to ask. Although they were also shocked by Qiao Gaogao’s decisive actions, since they hadn’t provoked her, they weren’t as terrified.
“Hah, because I refused to take him along, he tried to run us over and steal our supplies by force.” Qiao Gaogao’s gaze was icy as she swung the knife again, disabling one of the man’s arms. Ignoring his pale-faced pleas, the man eventually passed out from the pain.
Hearing Qiao Gaogao’s explanation, Zhao Dan shot the man a disgusted look. Then, seeing the heavily dented car, he wished the man would just die already.
In their current situation, having a car meant a better chance of survival. But with the car damaged like this, driving it further would be too risky.
But where could they find another car now?
Just then, a girl from the team quickly ran off. She returned shortly with several car keys in hand, pressing the unlock buttons as she walked back.
Yinxi understood the situation at a glance and silently glanced down at Qiao Gaogao. How were these two so in sync?
It was clear the girl had scavenged the keys from the zombies Qiao Gaogao had killed earlier in the parking lot.
Zhao Dan and the others stared dumbfounded at her actions. “Xiao Qi, how did you get so many car keys?”
The girl named Xiao Qi smiled shyly. “When we came over just now, I noticed the zombies lying on the ground. Anyone in a parking lot probably had a car, right? So I thought I’d search them to see if any had keys.”
Zhao Dan and the others: “…”
It was as if a new way of thinking had opened up for them.
“In the future, if you come across unlocked phones, take them too. You never know when they might come in handy for distracting zombies,” Qiao Gaogao said, looking impressed, as if thinking, This girl is clever, she’s got my style.
“Understood!” the others replied in unison, taking the keys from Xiao Qi and going off to test them.
Eventually, one of the men and the mother with the child each drove back a car. Working together, they moved their supplies into one of the vehicles. Since they now had an extra car, it would be a waste not to use it. Zhao Dan led a team back to the warehouse to gather more supplies, filling the car until it was packed. Everyone’s faces were filled with hope for the future.
Qiao Gaogao had already given them the address of the martial arts school and told them to follow closely behind her car.
Everyone got into the vehicles, ready to set off. As for the man lying on the ground with severed limbs, no one spared him another glance, leaving him to his fate.
Qiao Gaogao placed her senior sister in the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. Before closing the door, she shyly planted a kiss on Yinxi’s cheek. “Senior sister, we’re going back to see my parents now!”
Upon hearing this, Yinxi’s eyes widened instantly.
She hadn’t felt much before, but now that Qiao Gaogao had pointed it out, she realized just how nerve-wracking this situation was for a zombie.
Could Qiao Gaogao’s parents accept her dating their daughter? Especially now that she had turned into a zombie!
Would they blow her head off the moment they laid eyes on her?!
Yinxi instinctively raised her hand to touch her head.
Hmm, still intact, still there.
“Haha, no need to worry, Senior! They’re really nice people!” Qiao Gaogao assured her.
Yinxi glanced at her silently, then lowered her head and twisted her fingers anxiously, worried that Qiao Gaogao’s parents wouldn’t accept her.
What parents could possibly accept their daughter being with a zombie?
The more she thought about it, the more distressed she felt.
Why did she have to become a zombie?
Seeing her like this, Qiao Gaogao didn’t press further. Once they met her parents, Yinxi would understand for herself.
They got into the car, with Qiao Gaogao leading the way at the front. A total of four vehicles drove out of the parking lot one after another. Even though everyone had mentally prepared themselves, they were still shocked by the scene outside.
Limbless bodies, grotesque and eerie zombies, crashed cars, and shattered storefronts painted a hellish landscape.
Apart from Qiao Gaogao and her group, everyone else looked pale. Yet, they were resilient, knowing that this situation could last indefinitely and that they had to adapt quickly.
As zombies charged toward them, everyone floored the accelerator. Even with zombies right in front, they gritted their teeth and ran them over! In such circumstances, even a moment’s hesitation could be fatal!
The four cars sped away. For now, the zombies couldn’t keep up with the speed of the vehicles. Though zombies continued to swarm, they managed to shake them off temporarily.
As they approached the martial arts school, Qiao Gaogao sent a message to her parents to prepare in advance. By the time they arrived, the gates were wide open, and the surrounding zombies had been cleared out. Qiao Gaogao drove straight in first!
The other cars followed her lead, and as soon as the last vehicle entered, the gates slammed shut!
Only then did everyone breathe a sigh of relief, nearly breaking down in tears from the overwhelming sense of survival.
Looking back, it was quite foresighted of the martial arts school to have such a large courtyard.
“Where’s my precious daughter?” a man’s booming voice rang out.
“Keep your voice down! Don’t attract the zombies!” a woman’s equally powerful voice retorted.
Qiao Gaogao jumped out of the car first. “Over here!”
But even as she said this, her first action was to walk to the passenger side, open the door, and carry her senior out, intending to introduce her to her parents!
So, right in front of everyone her parents, senior brothers and sisters Qiao Gaogao brought out a zombie from the car.
“Ahhh!” Qiao Gaogao’s most boisterous senior brother was the first to scream.
“Don’t attack! She doesn’t bite!” Qiao Gaogao shouted urgently as someone raised a weapon.
Those who were about to strike froze in place.
Qiao Gaogao’s parents stepped forward first, their expressions serious as they looked at the two.
“Senior! These are my parents!” Qiao Gaogao quickly introduced them to Yinxi.
Parents?
Yinxi looked up at the nearly two-meter-tall, burly Papa Qiao, who stood like an iron tower, then at the sharp and capable Mama Qiao beside him, who also appeared to be over 1.8 meters tall. Finally, she glanced at the 1.6-meter-tall Qiao Gaogao standing next to her.
Yinxi: “…”
Are they really a family?
Is this a case of positive times positive equals negative?
