She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 4
Qiao Gaogao was nearly consumed by her own guilt and self-reproach!
But when she looked up, she saw her senior sitting there gloomily, as if sulking over something.
“Senior?” Qiao Gaogao cautiously approached again.
Yinxi looked up, her expression filled with deep grievance.
“What’s wrong, Senior?” Qiao Gaogao grew anxious, how could the senior she cherished so dearly be upset!
“Grr!” Yinxi raised a hand to pat her own stomach.
Seeing this, Qiao Gaogao froze for a second, then tilted her head and asked hesitantly, “Are you hungry?”
The beautiful zombie in front of her nodded.
“Gasp.”
Qiao Gaogao inhaled sharply, her almond-shaped eyes widening as she looked at Yinxi’s serious yet conflicted expression. Trembling, she asked, “Do you… feel the urge to bite someone now?”
The zombies outside lunged at people to bite them the moment they saw them. Even though her senior seemed to retain human consciousness, when it came to food, would she be the same as the other zombies craving flesh and blood?
“Grr!” Yinxi cast a somewhat disdainful glance at the dirt still smeared on Qiao Gaogao’s body.
Qiao Gaogao: “…”
Well, for now, she was safe, thanks to being unclean.
“Shall we go out and find something to eat?” Qiao Gaogao tentatively suggested.
Yinxi nodded with a hint of reserve.
Qiao Gaogao immediately breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she wasn’t being considered as food, everything was fine!
She rummaged through the office and finally broke off a thick chair leg, testing its weight in her hand. Having something was better than being empty-handed.
“Senior, can you hold onto my back tightly?” Qiao Gaogao beamed at Yinxi, squatting halfway down to fully expose her back.
Surprisingly, she showed no concern that Yinxi, in her hungry state, might not hesitate to take a bite out of her.
Yinxi stared at her back for a long while before finally leaning forward and wrapping her arms around Qiao Gaogao’s neck. When Qiao Gaogao stood up, Yinxi’s long legs also wrapped around her waist.
For a moment, the scene looked particularly comical: the 163 cm, soft-looking Qiao Gaogao carrying Yinxi, who was at least 170 cm tall, created a striking contrast.
Qiao Gaogao carefully bounced a little. Yinxi clung to her quite securely, but Qiao Gaogao still wasn’t fully reassured. She moved to the window, lifted a corner of the curtain, and peered outside. Seeing that the zombies that had been chasing them earlier had moved farther away, she quickly tore several strips of cloth from the curtain and used them to securely tie Yinxi to her back. Now, no matter how much she moved, she wouldn’t have to worry about Yinxi falling off.
Qiao Gaogao tested the setup again.
Hehe, solid.
“Senior, it kind of feels like carrying a baby,” Qiao Gaogao suddenly remarked.
“Grr grr!”
“Don’t be mad, don’t be mad, you’re not a baby. Senior is my girlfriend!” Qiao Gaogao even sounded a bit proud as she said the last part.
“Grr!” The sound softened.
Qiao Gaogao squinted her eyes happily, smiling as she held the chair leg in one hand and cautiously cracked the door open with the other to check for threats outside.
Suddenly remembering something, she quickly closed the door again and pulled out her phone to check for messages. She had almost forgotten about the two at home.
Opening her phone, she saw that their family group chat had been flooded with twenty or thirty messages, all from her parents asking about her current situation.
Yinxi, still clinging to Qiao Gaogao’s back, naturally saw this as well.
“Roar!”
“It’s okay, don’t worry about them. As long as they didn’t turn into zombies right from the start, they should be fine,” Qiao Gaogao replied to Yinxi while scrolling through her phone.
Strangely enough, just by hearing her roar, Qiao Gaogao could understand exactly what she meant. It was a truly magical feeling.
“Later, we’ll head to the parking lot to get my bike, then go to the supermarket to find some food. After that, we’ll go back to my parents’ place. Don’t worry, Senior, my family runs a martial arts school, and there are tons of medical supplies there!” Qiao Gaogao continued.
Yinxi’s eyes widened slightly. A martial arts school? She had never heard Qiao Gaogao mention that before!
–
Once they had a plan, Qiao Gaogao opened the door again. In her line of sight, only one zombie was repeatedly bumping into the wall at the corner of the staircase. The others seemed to have wandered off elsewhere.
Qiao Gaogao slowly pushed the door all the way open, her gaze fixed intently on the zombie with its back turned to them, bumping against the wall. She cautiously moved closer.
Not only her, but even Yinxi stared wide-eyed at the zombie without blinking, the tension thick in the air.
Holding her breath, Qiao Gaogao charged forward and swung decisively at the zombie’s head!
“Thud!”
“Crack!”
The sound of wood splintering echoed, followed immediately by the roar of another zombie charging from a blind spot Qiao Gaogao hadn’t noticed.
Qiao Gaogao quickly sidestepped, dodging to the zombie’s flank, then clenched her fist and delivered a fierce blow to its head.
This time, however, Qiao Gaogao had learned her lesson. She swiftly retreated two steps before the brain matter and blood could splatter, avoiding most of the mess.
Zombie Yinxi’s expression twisted with discomfort.
“Senior, close your eyes and don’t look,” Qiao Gaogao whispered soothingly. After dealing with the two zombies, she scanned the area. Fighting zombies bare-handed meant getting up close, which was far too risky.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up. She opened the hallway fire hose cabinet and pulled out a fire extinguisher, hefting it in her hand. At least this was sturdier than a broken wooden stool leg and less likely to break easily.
“Roar!” Zombie Yinxi let out a soft growl.
“Mm-hmm, don’t worry, I’ll be careful!” Qiao Gaogao whispered back, then slowly began descending the stairs step by step. Her bright almond-shaped eyes now gleamed with the sharp, fierce alertness of a wolf.
She would definitely protect her senior, no matter what!
Creeping down to the first-floor corner, Qiao Gaogao eyed the three zombies in the lobby with a headache.
One or two would have been manageable, but facing three at once was far too risky.
After a moment’s thought, Qiao Gaogao tossed the remaining half of the wooden stool leg in a different direction, then quickly retreated and hid herself.
As the wooden leg clattered to the floor, the three zombies inside immediately charged toward the sound.
Seizing the opportunity, Qiao Gaogao dashed outside, crouching behind a flower bed to assess the situation.
Since the old administration building was no longer in use, few people came around. Apart from the zombies they had lured over, there were no large hordes of zombies in sight.
Qiao Gaogao took a deep breath. When she had come to find her senior, she had ridden an electric bike, which was parked near Building 4, where her senior had classes. But the old administration building was about a ten-minute walk from Building 4. With all the hiding and dodging, it would take even longer now.
It’s a pity she was useless at picking locks; otherwise, she would have definitely tried to get her hands on a four-wheeled vehicle!
But there was some good news, the No. 4 Teaching Building, where Yinxi had her classes, was very close to the South Gate.
“Senior, are you ready? We’re about to start our adventure!” Qiao Gaogao said with a hint of excitement.
“Groan,” The zombie Yinxi responded with a low growl.
Qiao Gaogao’s face instantly lit up with a radiant smile. She led Yinxi along shortcuts toward the No. 4 Teaching Building. Along the way, they encountered zombies, but through repeated real-life encounters, Qiao Gaogao began to feel something unusual.
She felt her combat abilities were steadily increasing, and even while carrying her senior around, she didn’t feel particularly tired.
The two of them, sneaking and hiding all the way, eventually reached the parking lot beside the No. 4 Teaching Building. Qiao Gaogao first rummaged in her small crossbody bag for her electric scooter key. Spotting her bright, eye-catching pink electric scooter in the parking lot, she quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, noticing a few zombies wandering around the parking lot, Qiao Gaogao crouched by a flower bed, deep in thought. Her gaze fell on some pebbles at the edge of the flower bed, and an idea sparked in her mind, though she wasn’t sure if it would work.
She picked up a few pebbles, her eyes fixed intently on the head of the nearest zombie. Squinting slightly, she took aim.
“Whoosh!”
A sharp sound cut through the air, followed by the noise of flesh being torn. The zombie, its brain pierced by the pebble, collapsed to the ground with a thud.
Zombie Yinxi, who was clinging to Qiao Gaogao’s back with her arms wrapped around her neck, once again felt a chill run through her head and instinctively closed her eyes.
Qiao Gaogao stared wide-eyed at her palm still soft, fair, and delicate so how could it pack such a powerful punch? What exactly had changed in her body?
But she didn’t dwell on it for long. Following the same method, she cleared out the remaining zombies in the parking lot, then casually grabbed a handful of pebbles and stuffed them into Yinxi’s hands.
“Senior, hold these for me. We might need them later.” After all, she was wearing a pretty dress with no pockets!
Zombie Yinxi looked a bit confused but tightened her grip on the pebbles, making sure they didn’t slip from her hands.
In the end, she ended up clutching two handfuls of pebbles tightly.
Seeing her now much dirtier hands, Yinxi’s expression twisted in discomfort, but she restrained herself from dropping the pebbles.
Qiao Gaogao carried Yinxi over to her electric scooter, pushed it out of the parking space, and, while still carrying Yinxi, climbed on. She let out an ill-timed giggle.
“Senior, I’ve been wanting to take you for a ride around campus for the longest time.” For this very reason, she had specifically swapped her hoverboard for this electric scooter.
“Groan!” The sound was a bit weak.
The scooter was too pink and flashy, it stood out everywhere it went.
Qiao Gaogao drove off with Yinxi toward the South Gate. Along the way, many zombies noticed the commotion and gave chase. She managed to shake off those she could, and for those she couldn’t, she used pebbles to take them down with headshots. In the end, they successfully escaped Z University.
But escaping from Z University didn’t mean they could relax. Z City was densely populated, with not only locals but also tens of millions of migrant workers. The only time the city could be considered somewhat quiet was during the Lunar New Year period.
It wasn’t New Year’s now, so the population was still enormous.
Qiao Gaogao’s martial arts school was located in Chifeng District, separated from Z University by Tianxin District. Under normal traffic conditions, the journey would take nearly an hour, but fortunately, there were plenty of large supermarkets along the way.
“Senior, hold on a little longer and don’t nibble on me, I’ll take you to a feast!” Qiao Gaogao said excitedly.
“Roar!” I’m hungry…
“Alright! Let’s go!”
With a twist of the electric bike’s throttle, Qiao Gaogao sped straight toward the nearest large supermarket!
For the sake of keeping her senior from going hungry, she was going all out!
