She Said That Kisses and Hugs Are Needed for Redemption [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 6
With the instruction given, Lu Xi breathed a sigh of relief and hastily grabbed her shoes, slipping them onto her feet in a flurry.
She had initially thought to lend some of her own clothes to Fu Lancen, but since she was slightly taller, her garments would likely be too large and ill-fitting for the fox spirit. Thus, she needed to find some proper attire for her.
The rain outside was nearly spent. As she pushed open the door, a chilly wind rushed in, carrying with it a fine drizzle. Just as the raindrops were about to land on Lu Xi’s shoulders, they seemed to meet some invisible barrier, swirling away before quietly falling to the ground.
Over the past two days while tending to Fu Lancen’s injuries, Lu Xi had sensed an unusual presence in the town. Now that she was out to pick some dresses, she could also take the opportunity to investigate.
Arriving on the bustling streets, that strange aura grew even more pronounced familiar, somehow. Lu Xi guessed it was likely someone from Qingqiu who had tracked them here.
Extending her spiritual sense to cover the entire town, she quickly pinpointed the source of the aura. However, after noticing the direction in which this gentle presence was heading, she paused briefly before stepping into a tailor’s shop.
The little fox was in no danger, so she set her mind at ease and began browsing through the various dresses on display.
After a while, none of them quite satisfied her. The styles were either outdated or the fabric too ordinary hardly worthy of the fox spirit’s radiant beauty.
The shopkeeper, noticing Lu Xi’s furrowed brows, quickly approached with keen discernment. “It seems none of these ready-made garments have caught your eye, Immortal. Perhaps you’d like to follow me upstairs for a better selection?”
Curious, Lu Xi followed.
From the shopkeeper’s explanation, she learned that although the town was small, it often saw immortals passing through, so many shops catered to their needs.
Upstairs, she picked out a few shimmering enchanted robes that looked about the right size and handed them to the shopkeeper, ready to settle the bill.
Footsteps sounded on the stairs likely another immortal being led up.
Without a second glance, Lu Xi moved aside at the landing to make way. A sweet, fragrant breeze brushed past as two figures ascended to the second floor.
“This shop is the most luxurious one at the foot of the mountain. Their immortal dresses are sourced from Zhiyun Mountain, the styles are quite nice and would suit you well.” A clear male voice drifted into Lu Xi’s ears.
The next moment, a woman’s voice chimed in, “This red one is beautiful!”
After a brief silence, the shopkeeper’s hesitant voice reached Lu Xi. “Ah, this one has already been reserved by that immortal over there.” To the shopkeeper, these immortals all carried an extraordinary air, and he couldn’t discern their exact statuses. Unwilling to offend any of them, he treaded carefully.
Lu Xi hadn’t expected that simply picking out a few dresses would land her in such a predicament.
“Did you reserve this dress?” The woman stepped behind Lu Xi, eyeing her up and down. “You’re buying it for someone else, aren’t you? And you haven’t paid yet?”
Lu Xi turned and gave the woman an indifferent glance. “Are you offering to pay for me?”
The woman’s large eyes widened in shock. “You, you!” How shameless! To outright suggest she pay for it!
As the person moved, a faint scent drifted to her nose. Her heart tightened, and she took a few steps forward, closing the distance between them.
Lu Xi: “?”
Silently taking two steps back, she ignored the strange-looking woman and turned to the shopkeeper, who wore an awkward expression. Her voice was cool and detached: “I picked these first. If you expect me to yield them to her, I’m afraid that would break the rules.”
The shopkeeper swayed slightly. Though the woman hadn’t said anything particularly harsh, her words sent a chill down his spine, pressing down on him with an inexplicable dread!
“Y-yes, of course! These were your selections first, naturally they shouldn’t be given to anyone else.” He shoved the wrapped garments into the arms of a clerk, signaling him to quickly take them away for checkout while he handled the situation.
“Esteemed fairy, our shop has many new arrivals besides the dresses just now. Would you care to take a look?” He rubbed his hands together, eyes hopeful, and bowed slightly toward the noble-looking young woman.
Bai Qingyuan understood the shopkeeper’s intent, but by now, she had sensed that the woman from earlier was no ordinary person. Her playful mood had dissipated.
She followed the woman downstairs and, once beside her, abruptly grabbed her wrist. Tipping her chin up, she shot Lu Xi a sidelong glance: “Are these clothes for someone else?”
Lu Xi couldn’t be bothered to answer. Leaving a gold ingot behind, she picked up the wrapped garments and turned to leave.
But the persistent woman still clung to her sleeve, her slender nails nearly digging into Lu Xi’s flesh. Though it didn’t hurt much, Lu Xi felt provoked.
With a deft twist, she shook the woman off in an instant, her figure appearing at the shop’s entrance in the blink of an eye. Glancing back at the stunned woman, she narrowed her eyes. Once she confirmed her suspicions, her expression turned icy, and she strode away at a brisk pace.
“Junior Sister, do you still want to pick out more dresses?” The man who had been following the woman spoke up.
Bai Qingyuan didn’t answer. Taking a deep breath to catch the lingering scent in the air, she grabbed the man’s hand and dashed off in the direction she had sensed.
Lu Xi naturally noticed the two tails following her. At a fork in the road, she employed a diversion tactic. Watching as the pair chased after an illusion of her, the corners of her lips curled slightly before she vanished without a trace.
By the time she returned to the small courtyard, a fine drizzle had begun to fall. The temperature dropped slightly, and an autumn-cool breeze swept through, causing the door to creak open.
Lu Xi stepped inside, and the door closed behind her automatically.
She glanced at the half-open window, listening to the rhythmic patter of raindrops on the stone pavement outside. Amid the quiet, faint insect chirps intertwined, painting a serene picture of peaceful days.
Ignoring the faint, peculiar scent lingering at her nose, Lu Xi walked to the bedside. She lifted the tightly drawn moon-white gauze canopy and looked down at the beautiful young woman who appeared to be deep in slumber.
Perhaps stirred by the movement, the girl’s long lashes fluttered before her mesmerizing fox-like eyes slowly opened.
Reflected in those damp eyes was Lu Xi’s small silhouette. She placed the clothes on the bedding and said, “Here underwear, inner garments, and robes. Put them on.”
Fu Lancen’s face flushed crimson in an instant. Extending her jade-white arms, she hastily grabbed the clothes and sat up to dress.
The woman was still standing by the bed. She blinked, her gaze shimmering, and said in a crisp, delicate voice, “Then turn around.”
Lu Xi snapped out of her daze and quickly strode out of the inner chamber. Sitting on a wooden chair, she composedly picked up a teacup, poured herself some cold tea, and sipped it slowly.
Her ears twitched slightly as she heard the sound of the quilt being lifted, followed by the rustling of the wind against the gauze curtains. Then came the faint friction of fabric against skin as clothes were slowly pulled over delicate limbs.
Before long, her breathing grew uneven. Lu Xi hastily patted her own head, but the scorching warmth made her heart skip a beat. After a moment of silence, she simply opened the door, letting the cold wind from outside rush over her, suppressing the rising heat.
Light footsteps sounded behind her. The young girl, now clad in crimson robes, was breathtakingly beautiful her features like a painting. She sniffed lightly with her delicate nose before sitting down beside Lu Xi.
