She Said That Kisses and Hugs Are Needed for Redemption [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 2
The woman before her was shrouded in a hazy mist, her expression unclear, yet Fu Lancen could detect a hint of coaxing in her voice.
Someone of unknown origins and dubious intentions she would never trust such a person.
But no matter how unwilling she was, she was powerless to resist.
Under the dim twilight, faint light spilled into the fox’s crimson eyes, shimmering like rippling water. Lu Xi raised a hand to cover those eyes brimming with autumn melancholy, effortlessly blocking the nine-tailed fox’s involuntary charm. “Since you’re not speaking, I’ll take that as agreement.”
After uttering these almost shameless words, her other hand slipped beneath the fox’s soft, furry belly and firmly scooped the little fox into her arms.
“Then let’s leave this place first.” Without waiting for a response, Lu Xi cast an invisibility spell and swaggered out of the forbidden mountains of Qingqiu.
The journey was surprisingly lively, but from the chatter around them, both the woman and the fox learned that the marriage alliance between Qingqiu and the revered Qiran was nearing its conclusion. The much-envied bride had already been personally escorted by Qiran to the Ninth Heaven of the divine realm.
Listening to the discussions, it was clear no one yet knew the bride had been swapped.
Wondering what the little fox might be thinking, Lu Xi glanced down and gently stroked its round head, her tone soothing. “Don’t be sad. Him not marrying you is actually a blessing in disguise.”
Poor little fox her betrothed stolen by her sister, betrayed and wounded by her own kin. No wonder she would later fall into despair, succumb to demonic forces, and ultimately bring about the world’s destruction!
Before she could finish lamenting, the small head beneath her palm shifted away, and the soft warmth vanished.
Now able to make some sound, Fu Lancen moved her slender muzzle slightly, her voice faint but still carrying the clarity of a babbling brook. “Don’t touch me.”
“I said don’t touch me.” Fu Lancen had no idea who this woman was or what she wanted. Though she claimed to want to help her seek revenge, Fu Lancen couldn’t bring herself to trust her.
Right now, she couldn’t trust anyone.
Her strength had returned somewhat. Once this woman took her beyond Qingqiu, she would muster all her remaining energy to escape, refusing to be controlled. Even if she couldn’t fight back she couldn’t let herself be captured by anyone!
The clamor around them gradually faded as rolling mountains stretched endlessly ahead. Soon, the lush forests of Qingqiu were obscured from view, leaving no trace of what lay within.
Turning back to see her once-familiar homeland disappear, Fu Lancen felt no nostalgia and closed her eyes.
By the time an incense stick’s worth of time had passed, Lu Xi had already carried the little fox over several towering peaks. As night deepened, dark clouds gathered, threatening a downpour. Worried the injured fox wouldn’t withstand the storm, she consulted her system before stopping at a small town not far away.
The town was brightly lit, its streets bustling with mortals who felt nothing more than a passing breeze, oblivious to the woman and fox slipping past them.
Materializing before an inn adorned with lanterns, Lu Xi rapped on the counter with her free hand, startling the dozing innkeeper awake. “One superior room, please.”
The innkeeper blinked at the sight of the woman and the fox before breaking into a delighted grin. “We’ve got a room ready for you! Right this way!”
After placing a gold ingot on the counter, Lu Xi carried the little fox and followed the waiter upstairs. Perhaps because it was late, the candlelight on the upper floor was somewhat dim. She carefully surveyed her surroundings but detected no traces of other foxes before entering the room the waiter had indicated.
“Please bring some gauze up later,” she said, handing the waiter another gold ingot. After a few more instructions, she closed the door.
The room was brighter than the hallway, with candles burning in all four corners. A wooden table and four stools stood in the center, while to the right was a canopy bed draped with sheer curtains and layered with thick bedding.
It was far more inviting than the desolate wilderness they had been in earlier, which satisfied Lu Xi greatly. After all, she still thought like an ordinary person and wasn’t particularly fond of cold, gloomy environments.
A knock sounded at the door, the waiter had returned.
Setting the little fox down on the soft quilt, Lu Xi opened the door and took the tray from the waiter. “Thank you.”
“You’re too kind. Here’s the gauze you requested, and I also took the liberty of finding some wound medicine, I thought you might need it,” the waiter said, scratching the back of his head before carefully closing the door for her.
“He saw my injuries.” Fu Lanchen curled up on the bed, her eyes half-lidded. She had no idea what this woman had done to her, but ever since leaving Qingqiu, she had been unable to muster any strength, forced to flee alongside her.
The entire journey had been fraught with anxiety, terrified that her missing kin would track her down and drag her back.
Now that they were finally farther from Qingqiu, her tension eased slightly. But the waiter had noticed her wounds if someone with ill intentions investigated, she feared the very thing she dreaded might still come to pass.
Lu Xi lifted the hem of her robe and sat by the bed, picking up the gauze to clean the little fox’s wounds. “It’s fine.”
“I’ve already set up a barrier. If anyone from Qingqiu comes after us, I’ll know immediately. So there’s no need for you to worry too much.”
Parting the tangled fur, Lu Xi pressed the gauze against the still-bloodied wound.
“Mm…” Fu Lanchen’s beautiful fox eyes immediately narrowed, a muffled whimper escaping her lips.
As Lu Xi moved to continue cleaning the wound, she struggled and managed to speak up in time: “Don’t do it like this, don’t you know cleansing magic?”
Cleansing magic?
Lu Xi froze for a moment.
“Host you have this body’s memories.” 001 promptly reminded her. If it didn’t intervene soon, this woman might just end up killing the supporting character.
The flickering candlelight cast a warm glow over the white fox, softening the sharpness of her long, alluring eyes. Perhaps due to the pain, the wariness in Fu Lanchen’s gaze had faded, replaced now by a look of unmistakable grievance.
Lu Xi quickly withdrew the gauze and formed a hand seal. In the blink of an eye, the little fox’s fur was pristine again, smooth as the finest silk. Under the amber glow of the candles, it looked fluffy and soft utterly tempting to touch.
Thinking as much, Lu Xi reached out, parting the plush fur before using the spells from her memories to stop the bleeding.
Her fingertips inevitably brushed against the warm fur, soft as a pool of water. A few gentle strokes were enough to make her reluctant to let go.
Alright, she had to admit, she really couldn’t resist getting close to cute, fluffy little animals.
This feeling was just too good!
After indulging for a while, Lu Xi’s gaze met a pair of beautiful fox eyes those eyes looked like they wanted to devour her whole!
Lu Xi cleared her throat lightly and pretended to pick up a clean gauze, gesturing as if to wrap it around her. “I’ve already treated your wounds briefly earlier. Now, I need to bandage you up.”
“It might hurt a little, so bear with it.”
