She Gives Too Much (GL) - Chapter 10
The Young Miss was dressed in a sleek, fitted black blazer over a white blouse, the top two buttons undone to reveal a glimpse of her delicate collarbones and a silver necklace. Her slender heels accentuated her tall, elegant figure, radiating an aura of cool, restrained allure—as if her entire body were just legs.
Chen Xi’s mind was now completely occupied with those long, straight legs and the tantalizing glimpses of Li Zhi’s collarbones peeking from beneath her collar. How could she possibly stay mad at her?
“Let’s eat,” Chen Xi said, extending a pair of disposable chopsticks toward Li Zhi.
Li Zhi’s gaze flickered as she stared at the offered chopsticks. Her fingers twitched at her side.
She had expected Chen Xi to throw a little tantrum, perhaps using her apology as an opportunity to get her way. Instead, Chen Xi was playing by her own rules.
Li Zhi looked up at her. Chen Xi stood beneath the dazzling crystal chandelier, her white bathrobe and long hair draped over her shoulders, radiating a luminous glow.
Leaning against the table with one hand, Chen Xi tilted her head, her long hair cascading over her shoulder, a playful smile dancing in her eyes.
Li Zhi’s gaze flickered, her breath catching in her throat, her throat feeling tight.
She forced her gaze away from Chen Xi’s captivating eyes, letting it drift down to her full, dewy lips, which were visibly swollen and flushed.
All other thoughts vanished from Li Zhi’s mind. Her lashes lowered, and she averted her gaze.
She stepped toward Chen Xi, her eyes downcast, reaching out to take the chopsticks.
Just as Li Zhi’s fingers closed around the ends, Chen Xi suddenly pulled the chopsticks closer to herself.
Li Zhi instinctively looked up. Chen Xi’s eyes held a mischievous glint, the corners of her long, narrow eyes tilting upward. She leaned forward, her eyelids fluttering shut, and pressed a soft kiss to Li Zhi’s lips.
Their lips brushed, and they simultaneously released their chopsticks.
Li Zhi stood frozen, her chopsticks still suspended in mid-air, the soft, fleeting sensation of the kiss lingering on her lips.
In the few days since they’d met, they had kissed countless times, but none had been as light and fleeting as this one.
It felt as weightless as a feather, drifting silently onto the tip of her heart.
As brief as a raindrop, splashing into the still water’s surface in the blink of an eye.
Chen Xi had already settled down to eat the chicken leg Li Zhi had ordered for her, carefully tearing off strips with her hands to avoid irritating the cut on her lip.
Li Zhi, however, remained standing, her heart fluttering like a feather-tickled nerve, her eyelashes fluttering twice before she slowly sat down across from Chen Xi.
Chen Xi was eating the chicken leg, while Li Zhi had ordered preserved egg and lean pork congee with blanched lettuce for herself.
The sugar daddy ate congee and vegetables, while Chen Xi gnawed on chicken legs and sipped chicken broth.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Chen Xi tore off a strip of chicken leg meat with her gloved hand and offered it to Li Zhi. “Want to try some?”
Li Zhi shook her head, stirring the steaming congee with her spoon. “You eat it.”
Li Zhi had expected Chen Xi to ask about her unusual behavior earlier and was already mentally preparing how to explain it.
Considering their barely ten-day-old sugar baby arrangement, any questions from Chen Xi would be overstepping.
But seeing the corner of Chen Xi’s mouth, which Li Zhi had bitten, Li Zhi decided to forgive her.
Due to her family circumstances, Li Zhi had never had a close friend, let alone someone she could confide in.
She was used to bottling everything up and processing it alone. She genuinely didn’t know how to articulate her emotions to someone else, feeling inexplicably nervous and uneasy.
Li Zhi twirled her spoon, mentally rehearsing how to explain things to Chen Xi—
But by the time they finished eating, Chen Xi hadn’t asked a single question.
She seemed genuinely uninterested, simply enjoying her meal with eyes curved like a fox who’d just devoured a chicken leg, utterly content.
“……”
Li Zhi watched Chen Xi silently as the younger woman rubbed her stomach, picked up her phone, and began pacing the room to aid digestion.
Li Zhi inexplicably let out a sigh of relief, then belatedly wondered if Chen Xi was being a bit too indifferent.
If Chen Xi had asked, Li Zhi might have been dissatisfied.
But since she didn’t ask, Li Zhi felt even more dissatisfied.
Chen Xi had no idea what Li Zhi was thinking. She Googled methods to reduce swelling, found two ice cubes in the refrigerator, wrapped them in a damp cloth, and pressed them against the corner of her mouth while looking in the mirror.
“I have a part-time job during the National Day holiday,” she muttered to herself. “The swelling has to go down by tomorrow.”
It wasn’t just the part-time job. If she returned to the dorm looking like this, Yan Tuo and Xiao Xiao would bombard her with questions, assuming she and the rich woman had been playing some R-rated games.
Li Zhi glanced at her from the corner of her eye. The lingering awkwardness in her chest gradually gave way to guilt and embarrassment.
“Is there anything you want?” Li Zhi asked. “I’ll buy it for you.”
Chen Xi blinked, turning her head to look at Li Zhi with suspicion.
Is this her way of making up for it?
That wasn’t necessary. Two hundred thousand yuan a month was already more than enough. She wasn’t greedy.
“Armani recently released a new shade,” Li Zhi said when Chen Xi didn’t answer. She pulled out her phone and placed an order. “I’ll get you a set.”
“A set?” Chen Xi had considered buying it herself, but then remembered she still had an unopened tube and decided against it.
The brand was running a promotion: a set of three lipsticks priced in the four-figure range, plus a free perfume sample.
It was a gift that Qian Qian couldn’t resist.
Li Zhi hummed softly, placed her phone aside after completing the order, and lowered her lashes as she picked up her spoon again.
“Delivery in two days.”
By then, the corner of Chen Xi’s mouth would definitely be healed.
“I put your school as the delivery address.”
So thoughtful.
Chen Xi abandoned her ice pack and scampered over barefoot, wrapping her arms around Li Zhi from behind and nuzzling her cheek against her shoulder.
Her voice dripped with sweetness, “Sister, how can you be so wonderful? I love you so much~”
She was truly smitten with Li Zhi.
She’s practically a walking ATM.
Beautiful, skilled in bed, and incredibly generous—how could there be such a perfect Young Miss in the world?
Chen Xi sighed inwardly. It must be my own beauty and kindness that drew the Young Miss to me.
Li Zhi’s mood, which had been sour all evening, lifted effortlessly under Chen Xi’s flattery. She even considered ordering a full-sized 100ml bottle of the same perfume for her.
The earlier incident was completely forgotten, leaving no trace in either of their hearts.
That night unfolded naturally. But when the lights were off, Li Zhi, whether intentionally or not, gently pressed her damp lips against Chen Xi’s mouth after her shower.
Chen Xi thought she was going in for a kiss and hesitated whether to reciprocate, but Li Zhi pulled away immediately.
The gesture felt more like a silent “I’m sorry.”
A smile crept into Chen Xi’s eyes. She cupped Li Zhi’s face and asked playfully, “Baidu says saliva can disinfect and kill germs. Young Miss, wanna test it out with me?”
The last lingering trace of awkwardness in Li Zhi’s heart dissolved completely with that kiss.
They parted early the next morning. Chen Xi wasn’t sure what Li Zhi was thinking when she dropped her off a hundred miles from campus again.
Maybe she thinks the car’s too flashy and people will gossip if they see me getting out of it, Chen Xi mused.
She really wanted to tell the Young Miss she was overthinking it. After all, she’d ridden to school in her dad’s car before.
But considering her public image and future happiness, Chen Xi chose to smile and thank the Young Miss for her “consideration,” then strolled slowly toward campus.
At least between last night and this morning, I’ve gotten my workout in for the day, she thought.
Determined to look her best on camera in the future, Chen Xi straightened her posture and strode forward, treating the walk as exercise.
Back at school, Chen Xi finished her thesis and submitted it. Before the National Day holiday, she successfully landed a part-time job as an extra, earning three hundred yuan a day.
Yan Tuo went home, while Xiao Xiao stayed at school to work during the break.
Chen Xi hesitated for a moment. Since she hadn’t heard from the Young Miss, she decided to stay in the dorm with Xiao Xiao.
Although Li Zhi had told the old lady to find someone to manage the company that day, both women knew it was just an angry outburst.
The next day, Li Zhi went to work as usual and continued filming on set.
With her busy schedule, she couldn’t find time to meet Chen Xi.
The Li Corporation’s latest investment, a historical drama, was about to begin filming. Given the substantial investment and the casting of popular actors with proven talent, the project was being taken very seriously.
Today, Li Zhi had arranged to visit the set to observe the filming process and assess the quality.
As the largest investor, the Li Clan was the production team’s true “sugar daddy.”
When Li Zhi arrived, the crew was preparing for the day’s shoot.
The lead actors were still resting and getting their makeup done in their trailers, leaving only the crew and a few dozens extras on set.
The weather in early October showed no signs of autumn’s crispness, instead leaving everyone drenched in sweat.
The filming location was a sparse forest on the outskirts of town, where the thin canopy offered little shade.
By ten in the morning, when the sun had climbed high, the trees provided no relief from the heat, serving only as decorative props.
The extras, men, women, and children of all ages, huddled on the ground in coarse linen costumes, fanning themselves with paper fans to block the sun.
Today’s scene depicted the female lead’s assassination attempt during her journey from the countryside back to the capital. Apart from her and the main supporting characters, everyone else was to perish.
As extras with only fleeting screen time, they weren’t entitled to trailers or lounges.
You get what you pay for.
Li Zhi held a folder, her gaze sweeping across the extras without lingering, her expression cool and detached.
Her primary purpose today was to observe the production crew and the lead actors.
From the moment she stepped out of the car, her assistant had been holding a large black parasol to shield her from the sun. Beneath its shade, only Li Zhi’s delicate, pale chin and beautifully shaped lips were visible.
If not for her silver-gray blazer, one might have mistaken her for the lead actress based solely on her refined features and commanding presence.
“President Li.”
The slightly plump director came out of the lounge to greet her with a handshake.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I thought you’d arrive this afternoon for the indoor scenes.”
Li Zhi had only mentioned she’d be coming today, without specifying the time.
She smiled, exchanged a few pleasantries with the director, and settled in to watch the filming.
She quietly took a seat behind the director. By the time the lead actors received word of her arrival, they were already preparing to shoot, missing any chance to greet her, curry favor, or show off.
The lead actors visibly tensed up, and the entire crew seemed on edge, while the extras remained relatively relaxed.
The director, a veteran of countless productions, picked up his walkie-talkie and called out, “Extras, get ready!”
Li Zhi sat in her chair to his left, legs crossed, a folder open on her lap.
Her assistant handed her a pen from behind. Li Zhi took it and lowered her gaze to twist it open.
“Extras, extras! Hurry up and get ready! The director’s already calling you!”
Chen Xi, blending in with the extras, startled to her feet.
It was time to perform.
