- Chapter 1 - Everyday Life
The moment the chime rang, I—Nanase Yuna—rose from my seat.
My destination was already decided.
There was no reason for me to stay in my own classroom.
The place I belonged was beside my beloved girlfriend, Shiraishi Honoka.
I quickly stepped out of my classroom and walked down the hallway. It was only a few steps to Class 2, yet even that short distance felt frustrating.
I stopped in front of the door and flung it open with force.
Immediately, my eyes darted around, searching for her.
As expected, today too, she was surrounded by a few classmates.
—A familiar sight.
Someone would talk to Honoka, and they’d laugh together. Every time, my chest prickled with irritation.
Without hesitation, I strode forward. I had no intention of politely weaving through people. I headed straight for Honoka.
Along the way, I locked eyes with a male student who had been about to approach her.
I glared at him, unblinking.
He flinched, shoulders jerking, before quickly averting his gaze and stepping away.
But it didn’t end there.
The other classmates around Honoka, noticing my presence, gradually exchanged glances before slowly putting distance between themselves and her.
I didn’t say a word. I just kept staring.
That was enough.
Before I knew it, I was the only one left beside Honoka.
“Yuna… you glared at them again, didn’t you?”
Honoka looked at me with a slightly troubled expression.
“…Well, they were getting too close.”
“We were just talking.”
“But I didn’t like it.”
I pouted. Honoka sighed but still smiled wryly, gently patting my head.
“Honestly… you’re hopeless.”
Her touch softened my mood—just a little.
But my possessiveness didn’t disappear.
“Honoka, say ‘ahh.'”
I took the bread from her hand and tore off a bite-sized piece. Then, I brought it to her lips.
“Huh… right here?”
“Is that a no?”
I stared at her intently. Honoka hesitated for a moment, cheeks slightly flushed, before parting her lips slightly.
“…Ahh.”
She ate the bread from my hand. The sight was so adorable that I couldn’t help but smile.
“Honoka, you’re cute.”
“Geez… everyone’s watching.”
“I don’t care. I want them all to know you’re mine.”
As I spoke, I gently took her hand. Honoka’s cheeks turned a little pink.
“…Yuna, you’re really possessive, huh?”
“Of course I am. Because Honoka is mine.”
I leaned my head against her shoulder. Honoka looked flustered but didn’t push me away.
“Haah… you’re impossible.”
She stroked my hair tenderly. Basking in the warmth of her touch, I closed my eyes.
—I wish Honoka would only ever look at me like this.
Then, about ten minutes later, the chime rang again.
“You should head back soon, Yuna.”
“…Don’t wanna.”
“Class is about to start, you know?”
Honoka gave a wry smile and lightly tapped my arm.
The gesture was so cute that I pouted just a little.
“I’ll come get you after school.”
“Mm, okay.”
Suppressing the urge to monopolize Honoka’s smile, I reluctantly returned to my classroom.
My steps were heavy. With every step down the hallway, it felt like Honoka’s warmth was slipping further away, and I almost turned back multiple times.
Still, I somehow made it back to my classroom, where my classmate Takamiya Shiori was watching me.
“Welcome back, Nanase-san. You went to see Shiraishi-san again today?”
She smiled gently as she spoke.
“…What about it?”
“Nothing. I just think your relationship is really wonderful.”
Shiori smiled softly and sat down in the seat next to mine.
“You always go to Shiraishi-san, don’t you? I’m kind of jealous—having someone you can be so devoted to.”
“It’s not like that…”
I brushed off her words vaguely, pulling out my chair and sitting down. Then, I propped my elbow on the desk and looked away. Shiori didn’t seem bothered, resting her cheek on her hand as she watched me.
“Hehe, you really love Shiraishi-san, huh?”
Just small talk. Meaningless words from a classmate.
I gave a half-hearted response and turned my gaze out the window. Shiori still looked like she wanted to say something, but I ignored her—I wasn’t interested.
What a weirdo, still trying to talk to me…
With that thought, I waited for class to begin.
