Seduced By My Omega Stepsister - Chapter 9
Walking unsteadily.
Fu Zhou stood outside, staring blankly at Chu Xiyu, who was wearing a patrol badge.
Chu Xiyu swept a quick glance into the classroom. The two people who had originally agreed to cook rice together were now sitting upright at their desks, clutching their geography papers from the previous lesson.
Only Fu Zhou had actually started cooking ten minutes early.
Holding her self-heating mini hotpot, Fu Zhou felt a wave of intense embarrassment. She avoided Chu Xiyu’s pale-colored gaze.
“Are you going to report me?” she finally managed to choke out.
“I’m not reporting you, your teacher discovered it,” Chu Xiyu shook her head. She tucked her notebook away and headed toward the office on the floor below without a second glance.
Only after the sound of Chu Xiyu’s footsteps faded did Fu Zhou cautiously, inch by inch, lift her gaze to follow her silhouette. For the first time, she felt a sense of true shame, sparked by that brief encounter at the doorway.
During lunch, Fu Zhou was listless, barely touching her hotpot. It wasn’t until the “Mediterranean” (balding) teacher entered and summoned her and Zhang Jiahao to the office that she snapped out of it.
Poking her head into the office, her eyes finally found a place to rest. Chu Xiyu was standing by the desk on the other side.
Chu Xiyu was there. Surely, she wasn’t there to be punished.
“Hey, Fu Zhou, I get why they called you, but why me?” Zhang Jiahao stood there making faces. His physics grades were top-tier, and he was a favorite of the class teacher. This was his first time being called to the office, and it was alongside Fu Zhou.
“Hmph,” Fu Zhou snorted, ignoring him. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Chu Xiyu glance their way before lowering her gaze again.
Zhang Jiahao glanced at Chu Xiyu and whispered to Fu Zhou, “Did that girl just look at me? Do you think she likes me? She’s pretty… she’s the Omega from next door, right? Something like… Chu Xiyu?”
Fu Zhou expressionlessly increased the distance between them. “Don’t worry. She’d sooner like me than you.”
“Why? Just because you’re an Alpha?” That single sentence ignited the volatile Zhang Jiahao. He straightened his back. “Besides being an Alpha, what do you have that’s better than me?”
Fu Zhou looked over, her dark eyes devoid of emotion. In an instant, Zhang Jiahao went quiet. He was the type to bully the weak and fear the strong, overconfident and a tattletale. He was exactly the kind of person everyone hated in school.
Soon, the Mediterranean teacher walked in, looking over the top of his reading glasses. “Zhang Jiahao, go help the student at the next desk with some physics problems.”
The moment the words fell, Fu Zhou felt as if her heart had been squeezed. A bitter, salty tide seemed to flood her lungs. She turned her head, staring unblinkingly.
The silent girl Chu Xiyu spread out her test paper. As Zhang Jiahao walked over with a triumphant air, preparing to sit down, she suddenly stood up.
Chu Xiyu didn’t spare Zhang Jiahao a single glance. Her fair hands pulled the paper from the desk.
“Teacher, I prefer to figure it out myself,” she said. She didn’t look at Fu Zhou or anyone else, her eyes remained fixed on her paper. “I’ve mastered the basic concepts and gone through all the question types. For the advanced thinking problems, I want to try on my own. Thank you, teacher, and thank you to this classmate.”
The teacher looked on with slight surprise before slowly nodding. “Fine. Zhang Jiahao, go back to self-study.”
“Teacher, I think…”
“He said he doesn’t need you. Stop being so thick-skinned,” Fu Zhou interrupted.
The arrogant boy, having never lost face like this in front of a pretty girl, gritted his teeth and left the room without looking back.
Chu Xiyu quietly returned to her seat and began writing on her scratch paper. Fu Zhou’s eyes curved; it felt as if the clouds in her heart had finally cleared.
“Fu Zhou… let me see, what else have you done… Oh, right. Cooking during geography class?”
“Fu Zhou, I have to ask, are you really that hungry?”
The Mediterranean teacher squinted at her with a hint of helplessness. “Grades aside, because you’re an Alpha, the school and the Bureau of Education gave you a spot in the Advanced Class. Can you at least try to be a bit more motivated and stop causing trouble for your classmates?”
“Even if your paths in life will be different, most of your classmates will become elites in their fields. You’ll cross paths eventually. Leave a good impression; it’s all about networking…”
Fu Zhou kept her head down, silent. She felt humiliated again, right in front of Chu Xiyu. She was the only “bad” student. Even Zhang Jiahao, whom she despised, was one of the top scorers in the city.
That day, Fu Zhou didn’t want to go home.
She told Uncle Zhang, the driver, to wait for Chu Xiyu at the school gate while she slipped off to a barbecue stall near the school. The sky was just beginning to dim, and there weren’t many people.
Zhou Heyu had been picked up by her mother, so only Zhang Meng followed Fu Zhou.
“Young Mistress Zhang, you don’t need to babysit me. What could happen to an Alpha?” Fu Zhou sat down at an outdoor table and picked up the menu. Then, she slowly put it back down.
Zhang Meng sat opposite her, watching as Fu Zhou rummaged through her bag, eventually producing three coins. They clattered on the table, one rolling toward Zhang Meng.
The Alpha looked up helplessly. “Zhang Meng… do you have money?”
At school, everything was paid for via meal cards. Fu Zhou rarely carried cash. Zhang Meng sighed and pulled out two hundred-yuan bills and some change. “This is all I have.”
“Plenty! I didn’t think you’d have cash. I thought only Zhou Heyu carried money to buy snacks on the way home.”
They ordered some skewers and two cans of beer. Zhang Meng knew Fu Zhou was in a bad mood, so she didn’t stop her. Besides, it was just beer.
“Zhang Meng, this mutton is so gamey.” “Mhm. Put it down then.” “Zhang Meng, this dried tofu is great, try some.” “I will in a bit.” “Zhang Meng, cheers!” “Okay.”
Zhang Meng raised her sugar-free drink to clink glasses with the slightly tipsy Alpha.
“Zhang Meng, you smell so good. Did you really differentiate into an Alpha? Can Alphas smell this good?” “Shut up.”
Zhang Meng straightened the girl who was trying to lean against her. “Fu Zhou, sit properly or I’m leaving.”
The drunk Alpha became remarkably obedient, sitting perfectly still. “Zhang Meng, can I eat something?” “Eat.” “Thank you. You’re such a good person.”
Night had fully fallen. The stall grew crowded, and the air began to fill with the faint scents of other Alphas and Omegas. Mixed with the smell of grilled meat, it wasn’t pleasant.
Suddenly, those chaotic pheromones were forcefully pushed aside. A powerful scent of roses enveloped the space around Fu Zhou.
Zhang Meng turned around. A girl in a blue and white school uniform was standing there, breathing slightly heavily as if she had been running. She steadied herself, her eyes narrowing slightly as they passed over Zhang Meng, before walking straight to the drunken Alpha.
“Are you Fu Zhou’s… sister?” Zhang Meng asked uncertainly. After all, what kind of sister leaves a bite mark on a neck and such an aggressive pheromone trail?
Chu Xiyu caught the doubt in Zhang Meng’s voice. She didn’t answer. Instead, she gently propped up Fu Zhou’s head, which was trying to burrow into her arms.
“You seem more like an Omega,” Chu Xiyu said softly. The previously calm Zhang Meng suddenly looked back with a complex expression.
“I see. I’ll leave Fu Zhou to you. She’s drunk. See you tomorrow.”
Chu Xiyu smiled and bid her farewell. A high-level Omega knows the scent of another Omega better than any Alpha or machine. She knew Fu Zhou claimed to be an Alpha, and while she didn’t care how Fu Zhou had fooled the hospitals or the school, she knew Zhang Meng had sensed the pheromones she’d left on Fu Zhou. They were both smart, they would keep each other’s secrets for as long as possible.
Once Zhang Meng left, Fu Zhou buried herself completely in Chu Xiyu’s embrace. The smell of beer was overtaken by the scent of green plum wine.
“Fu Zhou?” Chu Xiyu looked down at the Alpha nuzzling her gland. Seeing the wandering eyes of strangers, she instinctively shielded Fu Zhou with her hand. “Let’s go. Can you walk?”
Fu Zhou opened her bleary eyes, saw it was Chu Xiyu, and nodded frantically.
“I’ll support you.” Chu Xiyu reached out, but the Alpha was like an eel, she couldn’t get a grip.
“Chu Xiyu, don’t hold me. I can walk.” “Okay.”
Chu Xiyu actually let go.
“Chu Xiyu… am I walking great? Am I walking straight?” The drunkard in front sought praise as she stumbled along.
The girl followed close behind, responding softly while making sure she didn’t fall.
“Mhm. Xiao Zhou is doing great.”
Under the streetlights, two teenagers in blue and white uniforms moved through the night, one walking in wavy lines, the other following step by step. Their mottled shadows stretched long against the pavement.
