Seduced By My Omega Stepsister - Chapter 1
“Get out.”
The afternoon sun struggled to pierce through the thick foliage outside the classroom windows.
Amidst the rhythmic scratching of pens, an uncoordinated sound broke the silence. The tightly shut classroom door was suddenly pushed open, slamming against the wall with a sharp creak that made ears ring.
A girl in the front row paused her writing, instinctively glancing toward the back.
In the very last row, a girl sat with the hood of her black hoodie pulled up. Her forehead rested on one arm, while her other hand was draped over her head, covering her ear.
Her pale, slender fingers curled slightly as she braced herself against the desk to look up. Her pitch-black eyes narrowed with a flicker of annoyance, which dissipated the moment she saw the flustered girl standing at the door.
She put her head back down.
The girl in the front row breathed a sigh of relief and turned back.
Fu Zhou. Tall, pale, and lean. When she smiled, she was bright and cheerful, renowned in these parts for being easy-going, except for one thing: a severe case of “waking up on the wrong side of the bed.”
Even when the young Miss Fu was startled awake, she didn’t usually resort to verbal abuse, but no one wanted to be on the receiving end of her smoldering, indignant gaze.
Seeing that the newcomer had returned to her seat, the girl in the front poked her classmate and whispered, “Lucky it was Qi Wen. Anyone else and Fu Zhou would be impossible to coax back into a good mood.”
“Wasn’t it said that Fu Zhou’s pre-differentiation results predicted a Top-tier Alpha? Qi Wen is just a Beta…” The other girl glanced quickly at Fu Zhou before scribbling on her paper to look busy.
“If Qi Wen were chasing Fu Zhou, that would be one thing. Fu Zhou has money, looks, a high Alpha rank, aside from bad grades, she’s perfect. But right now, it’s Fu Zhou chasing Qi Wen. If the Alpha doesn’t mind, why would Qi Wen care about ranks?”
The first girl nodded thoughtfully, and the conversation died down.
The first period after the noon break was PE. By the time Fu Zhou woke up, the classroom was mostly empty. She stretched, leaning back while her eyes drifted toward the now empty seat where Qi Wen had been.
Suddenly, a cold can of Coke pressed against her cheek. She shivered from the icy shock. Before she could react, the can was set on her desk, soaking the test paper she had used as a pillow.
She rubbed her stiff face and looked up at the girl beside her, a girl with shoulder-length hair and a squinting grin.
“You trying to kill me, Zhou Heyu? Do you have any idea how cold this is?” Fu Zhou picked up the Coke, snapped it open with one hand, and took a small sip, letting the bubbles fizz in her throat before swallowing.
“What do you do every night? You’re a total sleep-god. Every time I look back, you’re face down,” Zhou Heyu said, suddenly turning serious. “Are you even here to study?”
“I’m here to endure a trial,” Fu Zhou replied with a saintly smile.
“Is the PE teacher taking attendance today?”
“Yeah. I waited until after roll call to come find you.”
“And me?”
“Don’t worry,” Zhou Heyu said, before immediately adding, “You were marked absent.”
… Damn it.
Five minutes later, Fu Zhou appeared in the cafeteria with a food tray. Since classes were still in session, the cafeteria which stayed open nearly all day for students with irregular schedules was mostly empty.
She led a dazed Zhou Heyu to a corner seat. Her tray was piled high with meat.
“Don’t just stand there, sit. Make yourself at home,” Fu Zhou said, stuffing a large mouthful of rice into her mouth. She ate both slowly and efficiently.
It had only been three hours since Fu Zhou last ate. Zhou Heyu opened her mouth to speak but ultimately stayed silent.
As a Beta, she wasn’t sure if Alphas in their growth phase were just hungrier. Two months ago, Fu Zhou was half a head shorter than her now, she was taller. She literally changed by the day.
Besides, they say heartbreak increases the appetite.
Zhou Heyu looked at Fu Zhou with a gaze bordering on maternal pity. Even though society had mostly accepted ABO genetic evolution, Alpha and Omega populations were so rare that many people still only accepted traditional pairings.
Her beautiful, rich friend was in love with a straight girl.
“How’s Zhang Meng? Are her eyes still messed up after that fight?” Fu Zhou looked up from her mountain of food, glancing at Zhou Heyu.
“You know her, she’s vain. Apparently, she still has black eyes today. She won’t show her face until they’re gone.”
“Who did she piss off? Getting jumped by thugs on her way home?”
“Who else? Jia Hao. The ‘if I can’t have her, no one can’ type. Zhang Meng has a fiery temper, so she fought back. If it were you, you’d probably just flash a big toothy grin and laugh it off.”
Fu Zhou rubbed her thumb against her pinky and pulled out her phone. Ten minutes until the end of class.
“Let’s eat a bit longer. Otherwise, Qi Wen will show up.”
“Still can’t let go of your straight friend? You’re the only one in the classroom acting weird. She’s perfectly casual when she sees you, which makes you look like the guilty one.”
Fu Zhou didn’t reply. Before she could swallow her next bite, a calloused hand reached out toward her.
She immediately locked eyes with the thick callus on the index finger. She pursed her lips.
“Hand over the phone.”
Fu Zhou looked up. She saw a face that was “kind,” “curved,” and “smiling” a face full of wrinkles.
The face, heavy with excess weight, beamed with the joy of someone who had just caught a prize. He looked like a 300-pound toddler.
She looked at him coldly, then…
She handed over the phone with both hands.
The “Pig-Faced” Dean flicked through the phone and handed it back to her. “Call your parents. Tell them to come this afternoon to pick up the phone. And you, come to my office during evening self-study.”
“Living the good life lately, aren’t you?” He glanced at Fu Zhou’s food, picked up a chicken drumstick with his bare hand, and ate it while gesturing for her to hurry up and call.
The call was picked up quickly. Her father’s gruff voice came through.
“Dad.”
“…You should be in school right now.”
“Yeah. I got caught playing with my phone. The teacher wants you to come to school.”
“Can you please beg him not to make me go? I’m actually scared of him, especially that Dean of yours who looks like a pig.”
Fu Zhou looked up at the Dean in front of her and turned off the speakerphone.
The Dean snatched the phone away with his greasy hand and roared into the receiver: “Like father, like daughter! You better get down here today, or she’s never seeing this phone again!”
“You parents are all the same! You think just because the kid is an Alpha, everything’s fine? No effort, no discipline, still a loser! This Fu Zhou of yours has been at the bottom of the rankings for years. The school put her in the elite class, and what does she do? Just plays! I’m telling you…”
Fu Zhou signaled to the shivering Zhou Heyu. Both of them bolted for the exit.
The man’s muffled shouting followed them, but she couldn’t make out the words.
“You’re just gonna run? What about the phone?” Zhou Heyu was 168cm, but Fu Zhou had such long legs that she struggled to keep up. She bent over, panting slightly.
“He can have it. It’s covered in grease. Whoever wants it can keep it,” Fu Zhou said with a relaxed smile. It wasn’t her first phone, anyway.
Besides, today was her 17th birthday. Her dad, Fu Li, had promised her a gift, not a bank transfer, but something real. It wouldn’t hurt to ask for a new phone.
Her smile faltered as she turned a corner. Thud. An impact on her arm sent books sprawling across the floor. She looked down and saw books scattered everywhere and a girl with a high ponytail sitting on the ground.
The apology was on the tip of her tongue when the girl looked up. Her shimmering peach-blossom eyes crinkled slightly at the corners, flashing a momentary look of pure loathing and disgust.
Fu Zhou’s hand froze as she reached for a book. For a second, she wondered if she had misread the expression.
The girl’s skin was pale, an unhealthy, almost translucent white. Her lips were a moist red, her nose bridge high, and her jawline flowed elegantly into her white nape.
She was beautiful. Beautiful in a way that didn’t seem to belong in this place.
Fu Zhou dazed for a moment before the girl snatched the book from her hand.
“Um, hey, sorry about that… are you okay?”
Fu Zhou’s fingers curled awkwardly behind her back. The girl gave her a cold sweep of her eyes, stood up, and limped away quickly.
“A transfer student, maybe? I’ve never seen anyone that pretty at school. Wonder if she’s an Alpha or an Omega.” Zhou Heyu turned back and saw Fu Zhou still staring in the direction the girl had disappeared. She gave her a heavy nudge with her elbow.
Fu Zhou winced. “What was that for?”
“She’s gone, stop staring. You messed up her leg; maybe you should follow her and see if she needs help.”
Fu Zhou glanced toward the hallway. “She’s heading toward the teachers’ offices. If I go there now, I’m asking for a death sentence.”
“Besides,” Fu Zhou added, “I think she hates me.”
Even though it was the first time they had ever met.
“Heh.”
“So, you going to the Pig’s office tonight? It’s your 17th birthday, after all.”
“Nope. He can’t just have whatever he wants. Can’t spoil him too much.” Fu Zhou stretched, her summer uniform riding up to reveal a sliver of her pale midriff.
Fu Zhou ended up escaping by climbing the wall. After the bell rang, she blended into the crowd and watched from a distance as the Dean stood by the gate, his eyes narrowed to slits as he searched for her.
She grabbed her bag and walked back.
She tossed her bag over the fence, pulled herself up with effortless grace, and jumped down. Clean, decisive, and cool.
Well, she thought, this is how a future Top-tier Alpha should behave.
A car had been waiting at the gate for a long time. She yanked the door open and threw herself inside. But instead of the usual empty seat, she hit something soft.
A soft groan reached her ears. At first, she thought she had imagined it.
She looked up with wide, surprised “puppy eyes” and saw a cold, refined face.
The girl looked at her, her light-colored eyes filled with a complex, inexplicable emotion.
“S-sorry! I’m in the wrong car…” Fu Zhou’s face turned bright red instantly. As she reached for the door handle, a hand lightly caught the sleeve of her school jacket.
“You’re not in the wrong car,” the girl’s voice was soft and light. “I’m the one in your car.”
Fu Zhou sat back down abruptly.
She felt like her brain had short-circuited. The entire ride was a blur. The girl beside her smelled of fresh soap, the scent drifting over in waves.
The drive from school to home was only ten minutes. Before getting out, Fu Zhou stole a glance. The girl had her eyelashes lowered, her hands subconsciously gripping the straps of her backpack.
When those light-colored eyes suddenly looked back, Fu Zhou jerked her gaze away.
Distracted by the girl behind her, Fu Zhou opened her front door to see a three-tier cake on the table. Only then did she remember it was her birthday.
Fu Li stood by the table, looking at her with a mix of guilt and affection.
“Xiao Zhou, come here. I need to discuss something with you.”
“No. Doesn’t sound like anything good.” Fu Zhou’s gaze drifted to a middle-aged woman standing by the sofa. The woman looked gentle and serene just by standing there.
Hearing this, Fu Li approached with a fawning expression.
“Didn’t you always want a sister when you were little? I brought one home for you…”
Fu Zhou looked blankly toward the doorway. The girl from the car was standing just outside, framed by the hazy afternoon sunlight. She was slender and tall, her snowy skin contrasted by those pale eyes that held the chill of unthawed spring snow.
Fu Zhou smiled slightly, turned to her father, and said:
“Get out.”
