Running Away While Pregnant with the Villain’s Child - Chapter 5
“Li Dan, you really never change, do you?”
“What did I tell you last time?”
Pei Junzhuo leaned against the white wall, her gaze icy, her entire being radiating a chilling aura.
“Stay away from her. Can’t you handle such a simple task?”
As she uttered the last sentence, Pei Junzhuo’s voice carried a hint of revulsion. She punched Li Dan directly in the stomach; his face instantly contorted in pain as he began to hurl curses.
“Why should I listen to you? Luo Xingran and the entire Luo family are already in the palm of my hand. Who do you think you are? Do you really think you can save her? You’re dreaming! Pei Junzhuo, you can’t save her!”
“Let go of him first, let him stand up,” Pei Junzhuo waved her hand. The men pinning Li Dan down slowly released their grip.
Only then could Li Dan, who had been pressed into an intimate embrace with the dirt on the ground, struggle to his feet.
“How about we cooperate? I get the Luo family, and you get Luo Xingran. Once you’re bored of her, you can just hand her over to me.”
The moment she heard Li Dan say the name “Luo Xingran,” Pei Junzhuo laughed.
“Cooperate? Why on earth would I cooperate with you? Based on the fact that you’re an absolute piece of trash?”
“Do you think that just because you know some ‘plot’ and information, you can stand above everyone else?”
At the mention of the word “plot,” Li Dan was so shocked he nearly lost his footing. He looked at Pei Junzhuo, his eyes filled with sheer astonishment.
“What is Miss Pei joking about? What plot? My chips are, of course, just my own abilities.”
A chill ran down his spine, and he could barely stay upright. He thought he was the only one who knew he had transmigrated.
As it turned out, Pei Junzhuo knew everything.
In the original story, Pei Junzhuo was the major antagonist…
How much did she know? What exactly did she know!
Though panic surged in his heart, Li Dan forced himself to maintain a facade of calm.
However, his trembling legs betrayed him.
“Your abilities? Do you think the companies currently in your hands are a result of your ability? No. Those are things you were allowed to hold onto because I permitted it.”
“Li Dan, you’re truly a waste for not even realizing that. Why don’t we see which of us will survive until the very end?”
Scorn. This was blatant, naked contempt.
“I’m telling you, if you defy the plot, you will be punished!” Li Dan blurted out, terrified and desperate, managing only this cowardly threat after a long silence.
Hearing this didn’t make Pei Junzhuo happy. On the contrary, her heart sank. Her mind was filled with the memory of Luo Xingran’s resolute smile from before.
To change fate, just how much had she endured in that other world?
Just thinking about it caused a sharp, lingering ache in Pei Junzhuo’s heart. If only she could have endured all of it in Luo Xingran’s place.
The culprit was right before her eyes, at her mercy. If Pei Junzhuo weren’t afraid that getting rid of Li Dan would cause this world to collapse, she truly would have made this guy disappear forever.
“Miss Pei, I advise you to stick to the plot. I’ll be sure to leave you an escape route.”
Li Dan’s initial terror subsided slightly when he realized the word “plot” seemed to affect Pei Junzhuo. He tentatively tried to make her back down.
“Follow the plot? Sure. Since we’re going to follow it, let’s do it properly.”
“According to the plot, you shouldn’t have this many companies in your hands right now. Li Dan, do you really think I need you to show me mercy? We’ve been playing this game for six months; there’s no need to put on an act here.”
Pei Junzhuo’s tone was indifferent. The coldness in her eyes made Li Dan lose the courage to mention the “plot” ever again.
“I beg you, don’t touch my companies. I’ll cooperate with everything you say from now on.”
Li Dan pleaded with Pei Junzhuo. He had thought he could secretly exploit loopholes to win over Luo Xingran and seize the Luo Corporation. Instead, before he could even touch the Luo family, his own companies were about to be lost.
Those five companies were the result of his painstaking efforts, using his knowledge of the plot to acquire them.
“By the way, I heard your mother is sick. She urgently needs a million for surgery, yet you haven’t paid a cent.”
“Li Dan, you poured all your liquid assets into your companies.”
“In that case, what will happen to your mother?” Pei Junzhuo put on a melancholic expression, as if she were truly worried about him.
“Yes, exactly! You have to at least leave me a million! Otherwise, my mother will die. She’s innocent and very kind!”
Li Dan tried to use his parents to gain Pei Junzhuo’s sympathy. In his eyes, Pei Junzhuo was still a “good person,” and a good person shouldn’t stand by and watch someone die.
“Fine. I will pay for your mother’s surgery in my name.”
“However, I think it’s necessary to tell your parents exactly what you did to that innocent doctor.”
“Distorting the truth and blackmailing such a good doctor.”
Pei Junzhuo’s words made the hair on the back of Li Dan’s neck stand up.
His parents in this life were very upright, honest people. Back then, to get the startup capital for his company, he had conspired with others to stage a medical dispute and blackmailed a very talented doctor.
His current parents would never accept their son blackmailing a good person.
If they found out, he would be finished.
The victim was a young doctor in her thirties who had just finished her residency and was incredibly dedicated to her patients.
That young doctor had no idea it was all a conspiracy. She didn’t understand why, despite doing nothing wrong, she ended up in such a state.
Later, she turned up in the hospital mortuary.
When Pei Junzhuo first learned about this, she felt an indescribable surge of emotion.
It was this very incident that made her realize good people don’t always get rewarded. To be a good person, one must possess sufficient power. Otherwise, being “good” will only bring harm to yourself and your family.
“She was just a supporting character—no, she was just an extra! She’s dead, and that’s that. Miss Pei, there’s no need to go up against me for the sake of an extra, is there?”
“Let me off the hook, and I’ll be sure to return the favor!”
Li Dan attempted to entice Pei Junzhuo; as far as he was concerned, as long as he could make a comeback, telling a few lies meant nothing.
“Is there something wrong with your brain? You?”
“Return the favor? What exactly do you have that could possibly be of value to me?”
“How should I put this… when it comes to being delusional, no one beats you.”
A few people nearby began laughing and jeering, joining in to mock Li Dan.
These were all friends of Pei Junzhuo, and they all found Li Dan utterly pathetic. The reason Pei Junzhuo and Li Dan could discuss “the plot” openly in front of them was that those who hadn’t discovered the truth for themselves would have such information filtered out or “censored” by the world’s rules.
None of these people had been raised to understand the word “compromise.” To them, Li Dan was merely an insignificant loser who didn’t know his place.
Listening to the harsh laughter ringing in his ears, Li Dan’s expression grew increasingly grim.
“Pei Junzhuo, if you cooperate with me now, you still have a way out. If you stay this stubborn, you’ll end up exactly like you did in the plot—dying without a grave to call your own!”
Pei Junzhuo didn’t even blink.
The people surrounding them, however, erupted into another fit of laughter, surrounding Li Dan with a fresh wave of ridicule.
“Eldest Miss Pei, I can’t take it anymore. If I don’t give him a beating, I feel like I’m disrespecting his lack of IQ.”
“Agreed. I think this waste only understands communication when a fist hits his body and it hurts.”
“We can only communicate with him using a method he actually understands.”
The atmosphere among the group grew exceptionally enthusiastic, and Pei Junzhuo had no interest in dampening their spirits.
“Have your fun. I’m heading out.”
“Show him a ‘proper’ amount of respect. Keep it within limits,” Pei Junzhuo said as she walked away, ignoring the sounds that followed.
She had another task to attend to: organizing the things Luo Xingran had written to her in her dreams over the years.
With those materials, she could better manipulate the plot.
Xingran had already completed the hardest part; now, it was her turn to show the “Rules” a thing or two.
“Miss, the Master and Madam are clamoring to go chat with Miss Luo. I’m about at my wit’s end trying to hold them back.”
The Pei family butler walked up, venting his frustrations about the Master and Madam to his young mistress.
How was it that in other families, it was the young masters and ladies who were rebellious and willful, but in their house, it was the Master and Madam who acted like children?
“Then let’s head home first.” Pei Junzhuo rubbed her temples, feeling a sudden headache coming on.
How to pacify her own parents was becoming a very serious problem.
