Running Away While Pregnant with the Villain’s Child - Chapter 16
Luo Xingran, who hadn’t slept well all night, had officially turned into a panda. The two massive dark circles on her face were impossible to ignore.
As soon as class ended, Shen Yao walked over to Luo Xingran’s side and said with a solemn expression, “This won’t do. Let’s just go turn ourselves in!”
“What are you talking about?” Luo Xingran was stunned. Had she done something illegal or disrupted public order?
“Looking at you, you must have gone out last night to steal the neighbor’s cats and dogs!”
“Just confess and hand them over; everything will be fine.”
Shen Yao was still playing the fool, and finally, Luo Xingran understood what she meant.
Silence was Luo Xingran’s first reaction.
“Don’t scream too loud when you get beaten up later,” Luo Xingran said, grabbing her bag as if to teach Shen Yao a lesson.
“Don’t talk about Miss Luo like that, Sister Shen Yao,” Tan Nuannuan happened to arrive to pick up Shen Yao, seemingly speaking up for Luo Xingran.
But upon closer inspection, Tan Nuannuan’s posture was clearly shielding Shen Yao.
Tsk. Luo Xingran suddenly felt like she’d eaten her fill of “dog food” (public displays of affection).
“Blehh…” Shen Yao’s childish behavior left Luo Xingran speechless.
What on earth! Luo Xingran looked at the two of them with disgust.
“You’re such a child. Shen Yao, I suspect you only graduated from elementary school.”
“And Tan Nuannuan, next time you defend her, you can skip the nonsense.”
Luo Xingran ruthlessly exposed the “ugly faces” of the couple.
“What’s wrong? Are you angry?” Pei Junzhuo’s voice drifted in from behind Luo Xingran.
“You two should take it easy on her; don’t tease her all the time.”
The voice was cool, yet it betrayed a hint of indulgence. Both Shen Yao and Tan Nuannuan wore expressions of sudden realization.
Among the three, only Luo Xingran froze. Even though she knew Pei Junzhuo wasn’t “that kind” of person, she still felt a fear that seeped into her very bones.
“Hi… what a coincidence.” Luo Xingran didn’t even know what she was saying; her entire body was incredibly stiff.
Pei Junzhuo naturally noticed Luo Xingran’s unease.
“Coincidence? Don’t we go back together every day?” As Pei Junzhuo spoke, she stepped a little closer to Luo Xingran.
The moment she sensed Pei Junzhuo approaching, Luo Xingran instinctively shrank back.
Watching from the side, Shen Yao was shocked. She pulled Luo Xingran to the side and whispered, “What’s up? Did you and Pei Junzhuo have a fight?”
“Even though I usually say her way of doing things is a bit scary, she actually cares about you quite a bit.”
“Acting like this is a bit hurtful to her, you know?” Shen Yao looked at Luo Xingran, clearly surprised by her reaction.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’m just… really scared.”
Luo Xingran understood this well enough; she simply couldn’t override the primal fear in her bones.
“I don’t know what’s come over me. My body just reacts that way instinctively.”
After saying this, she looked quite dejected. Seeing her like this, Shen Yao immediately flipped her stance.
“Then it’s definitely her fault. Let’s go out and play to relax your mind.”
Snap. Just like that, Shen Yao’s loyalty did a 360-degree pivot.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Tan Nuannuan was asking Pei Junzhuo, “Are you being too pushy? Did you scare her?”
She arched an eyebrow. With her back turned to Shen Yao, her expression had nothing to do with the word “innocent.”
At this moment, Tan Nuannuan looked exactly like a fox.
“It’s when you show your true colors that Shen Yao will be scared,” Pei Junzhuo replied emotionlessly, clearly not needing anyone’s “comfort.”
