Running Away While Pregnant with the Villain’s Child - Chapter 14
“You traded your love and a fragment of your soul for the right to know the plot. What are you willing to trade this time?”
Hearing these words, a surge of wild joy rose in Li Dan’s heart. As expected, returning to this place allowed him to encounter the Source of this world once again!
He looked toward the young girl sitting in the dark corner. She wore a white dress embroidered with a circle of tiny red flowers. She appeared to be no more than five years old, yet her eyes held none of the innocence typical of a child.
No matter how many times he came here, Li Dan’s legs shook uncontrollably. He could never forget the horrific, agonizing pain of having his soul splintered.
“Things aren’t going right. Nothing is developing the way I anticipated. Luo Xingran hasn’t fallen for me, and I can’t get my hands on the Luo family fortune at all.”
Li Dan grew more agitated as he spoke. He had assumed everything would be smooth sailing, but up until now, not a single thing had gone his way.
“And my backup plan, Shen Yao—she’s been ignoring me lately. It doesn’t matter if I take the initiative to talk to her; it’s useless. Can you help me look into what’s going on? Please?”
As he finished, Li Dan dropped to his knees. He pressed his palms together, his eyes filled with desperate pleading.
“This act again? You don’t actually think this will make me help you, do you?”
The little girl remained unmoved, looking down at the kneeling Li Dan. “The debt of gratitude I owed for you saving me has already been paid in full. Wealth, love, happiness—they were all within your reach.”
“No payment, no help,” she stated coldly.
“Your mother’s health, your father’s luck, your own love and soul… Li Dan, it seems the only thing you have left to sell me is your own lifespan.”
The girl manifested a lollipop out of thin air, watching the man before her with clinical indifference.
Seeing her attitude, Li Dan finally snapped.
He screamed in a breakdown, still on his knees: “If I hadn’t saved you, you would have been buried in the ground long ago! How can you treat me like this?”
Upon hearing this, the little girl transformed the lollipop in her hand into a massive inflatable hammer.
Bang! With one swing, she slammed Li Dan’s head into the ground.
“You saved me, and I changed your fate. We were already even. Pushing your luck only makes me want to kill you right now.”
Only after his face hit the floor did Li Dan begin to crumble and beg for mercy.
“I was wrong, I was wrong! But the results I wanted… I haven’t achieved them! Please help me again, just help me one more time!”
The girl’s gaze grew increasingly judgmental, as if she were looking at a fool.
“I told you: I am responsible for the process, but I do not guarantee the results. Do you not understand human speech?”
Looking at the man on the ground, she questioned for the first time whether she had made a mistake choosing this creature as the “Son of Heaven’s Mandate.” He had failed every test, couldn’t endure a lick of hardship, and was forever looking for someone else to sacrifice.
“Then… can I pawn my parents’ lifespans? I want to tamper with Luo Xingran’s memories. If I can just make her believe she’s in love with me in her memories, everything can get back on track.”
Li Dan’s shameless display as he knelt there was enough to sicken any passerby.
“The requirements for altering memories are high. Ten years of your life would only change a tiny fraction. If you want to alter them to the extent you’re describing, you would drop dead instantly.”
“Furthermore, your parents’ lives do not belong to you. You cannot use them. If you want to change anything, you can only trade your own life with me.”
By the time she finished, the girl was visibly irritated.
She looked at Li Dan coldly and asked softly, “Under those conditions… do you still want to trade?”
