Reborn as the Divorced Alpha Celestial Master - Chapter 3
Ji Yao wasn’t bad-looking her features were sharp and defined, with a high nose bridge, a small face, and fair skin. Even among female alphas, she stood out, and she wouldn’t be considered inferior even when compared to female omegas.
So, she couldn’t accept Shi Rui’s remark that “there are plenty of alphas better-looking than you.”
But the next sentence, “Shi Yu must have been blind to marry a scumbag like you” nearly made her jaw drop.
Shi Yu appearing in her home was shocking enough, but what was even more shocking was Shi Yu had married her?
But how did that make any sense?
How could it? Her phone was filled with messy messages, her home’s layout was chaotic, and her clothing was revealing.
Yet, how could it not be true?
Shi Yu’s clothes were in her home, and so was Shi Yu herself.
If there were no such relationship, how could Shi Yu and her belongings be in her home?
But without knowing anything, she had to endure Shi Yu’s cold disdain and Shi Rui’s mockery and fists.
“I’ll explain later.”
Before Ji Yao could finish, Shi Rui rushed past her.
Shi Yu was wheeled out by doctors and nurses.
At the sight of Shi Yu’s pale face, Shi Rui’s aggressive demeanor vanished instantly. His eyes reddened, on the verge of tears, as he leaned close to Shi Yu. “Shi Yu, your brother is here, don’t be afraid,” he mumbled incoherently, following the gurney while shooting a fierce glare at Ji Yao.
Ji Yao ignored him, her gaze fixed solely on Shi Yu.
Only when they had moved farther away did she follow, keeping a moderate distance. When Shi Yu was taken to the ward, she turned and headed to the alpha specialty department.
She had also registered for emergency care. Half an hour later, the results came out.
As Shi Yu’s attending physician had said, she had inhaled expired suppressants. However, since she had taken inhibitors in advance and applied suppressant patches, the effects were minimal. A single injection was enough to stabilize her chaotic pheromones.
Under normal circumstances, she should have been relieved. But the fact that she had used the expired suppressants, causing Shi Yu to end up in such a state, filled her with guilt and unease.
In the chaotic early hours, she had suddenly returned to her original world from the battles of another realm. Most importantly,
Shi Yu had appeared in her home in that condition.
Shi Yu had married her.
These two pieces of information left her on the verge of collapse.
She didn’t know if Shi Yu would believe her about traveling between worlds. Even if Shi Yu didn’t, the worst outcome would be divorce.
After all, she had never truly possessed Shi Yu.
Still, it hurt. Even though she had done nothing, her relationship with Shi Yu had deteriorated to this point.
That was Shi Yu, the person she had remembered since their first encounter in their youth.
At that moment, a jealousy she hadn’t felt in years flooded Ji Yao’s mind. That damned outsider had defiled Shi Yu.
Ji Yao still remembered the first time she saw Shi Yu. She was in her first year of high school, while Shi Yu was already gaining fame as a contestant on a singing competition. As an outstanding alumna, Shi Yu performed at the school festival, her love song stirring everyone’s hearts.
Ji Yao was no exception. Shi Yu had a cool, elegant beauty, but when she sang, she wore a sweet smile, and her voice was clear and soothing. Ji Yao adored it.
From the song, to the person, to that smile she loved every bit of it.
Her fondness for Shi Yu was etched deep into Ji Yao’s bones back then, a mix of fandom admiration and pure idolization, complex in nature, yet entirely devoid of any possessive feelings.
Years later, when she entered the TV station as an intern and saw Shi Yu in person again, their brief interactions shifted the flavor of her affection. She began to crave climbing higher, to reach a place where she could touch Shi Yu.
Finally seizing a rare opportunity, she added Shi Yu on WeChat under the guise of work. Though it was just a professional account, it thrilled her for a long time.
And troubled her for just as long.
Because she hadn’t yet found a reason to exchange a single word with Shi Yu.
Just as she was weaving a beautiful dream with Shi Yu as the lead, she was transported to another world.
The constant battles and struggles gradually made her forget. She thought she would never return in this lifetime, let alone see Shi Yu again.
The dreams of her youth had long been extinguished, buried deep in her heart.
Yet, a tangled mix of emotions remained.
After receiving the examination results, Ji Yao wandered back to the door of Shi Yu’s hospital room in a daze.
She sat there for a long time, her mind empty. Occasionally, she could hear Shi Rui’s sobs from inside the room and his soft murmurs of concern for Shi Yu.
Inside the room, Shi Yu happened to wake up.
Shi Rui had been crying by her side the whole time, his eyes swollen from tears.
When Shi Yu opened her eyes, this was what she saw. She urged him to go home and rest.
Of course, Shi Rui refused, gazing at her pitifully, insisting on staying until she was discharged.
Since growing up, Shi Rui had rarely been so clingy with her.
They were twins, with Shi Rui born just over ten minutes earlier. From childhood, he had always taken care of her, but things began to change after they both presented as omegas.
She spent most of her time on music, classes, competitions, and then entering the entertainment industry.
While Shi Rui was busy with relationships.
It wasn’t until two years ago, when she started dating Ji Yao and Shi Rui went through a breakup, that they grew close again.
Shi Rui could be quite naggy at times, especially when it came to her and Ji Yao.
And he had a fiery temper.
“Did you hit Ji Yao again?”
Forced into her heat or perhaps from being restrained for too long, Shi Yu felt weak all over and in pain. She mustered her energy to ask.
Shi Rui had just managed to hold back his tears, but hearing Shi Yu’s hoarse, weak voice made his eyes redden again.
He hid his reddened hand, the one he’d used to hit Ji Yao and muttered, “I did.”
Ji Yao was an alpha and had trained for a while. Every time Shi Rui hit him, it never hurt Ji Yao much; instead, Shi Rui ended up injured.
Yet Ji Yao had a sharp tongue and would often tease him about it.
But today…
Shi Rui frowned. Today, it had been a one-sided beating and cursing from him, and Ji Yao hadn’t said a single harsh word.
After a moment of silence, he told Shi Yu everything that had happened outside the hospital room.
Shi Yu listened calmly and nodded without much to say.
Her neck, arms, legs, and ankles throbbed with pain, but she didn’t want Shi Rui to notice, so she forced a light laugh and asked, “How is my condition?”
This question caught Shi Rui’s attention. He stopped staring at Shi Yu and didn’t notice how hard it was for her to focus her gaze. After a long, drifting silence, he replied in a choked voice, “Not good.”
They were alike in this way neither wanted to show their vulnerabilities and worry the other.
As for the other person’s affairs, she was filled with concern.
Shi Rui opened up the conversation: “The doctor said the damage to the back of your neck is severe. It’s best not to use inhibitors for the next six months, but rather use alpha pheromones.”
Shi Yu turned her head to look at him and asked, “Synthetic ones?”
“No, it’s best if they’re real.” Shi Rui shook his head with a frown, clearly deeply troubled.
Given Shi Yu’s situation, where could they find real alpha pheromones? And they certainly couldn’t let Ji Yao get off easy.
Seeing his lack of restraint, Shi Yu’s worries and gloom resurfaced. She vaguely asked, “Can’t we buy them?”
“We can! Don’t worry, I’ll ask around. There must be a way. Besides, the doctor also said that this kind of situation isn’t without a solution.”
“Leave it to me.”
Shi Yu naturally trusted him.
She nodded weakly, but she still needed to put on a front in front of Shi Rui, so she turned her head away, not wanting him to see her like this.
Shi Rui didn’t press further and instead brought a glass of water to her.
“Drink some warm water.” Away from Ji Yao, Shi Rui was gentle and polite, and his voice now had a soothing effect.
Perhaps it was the bond of blood that made Shi Yu feel comforted.
She turned her head, her flushed cheeks facing Shi Rui, and took the cup.
But Shi Rui, feeling heartbroken, wanted to help her sit up. Such actions weren’t out of bounds between siblings; it had happened before.
Today, however, Shi Yu avoided it, frowning and inhaling sharply in pain.
“What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?” Shi Rui moved his hands to his sides, too panicked to move.
Shi Yu slowly sat up and after a while said, “It’s nothing.”
But it was clear it wasn’t “nothing.” Shi Rui’s eyes reddened with anger again, and looking at her reddened wrists, he couldn’t help but curse, “That bastard Ji Yao! If I had been with you today.”
“It’s my own fault.”
“I misjudged her. I brought this on myself.”
Shi Yu interrupted him, her thoughts drifting far away to the first time she met Ji Yao, long ago.
Then she laughed self-deprecatingly.
She had long since realized it Ji Yao only had a gentle facade, but in reality.
She was just scum.
Outside the door, Ji Yao was resting with her eyes closed, completely unaware of the conversation that followed. It wasn’t until her cheek was poked that she groggily opened her eyes.
Standing in front of her was a delicate, adorable little girl.
Blinking her big eyes, the girl poked her again when she got no response.
Her fingers were soft, and for a moment, Ji Yao felt inexplicably cheered by the poking.
She sat up straight, cleared her throat softly, and asked, “Little one, whose family are you from? Where’s your mom?”
The little girl frowned and pointed vaguely toward the hospital room. “Mommy’s inside.”
There were no adults around her. After thinking for a moment, Ji Yao decided to take her to the door of the room. But as soon as she stood up, an elderly aunt hurried over.
“Ji… Miss Ji,” she stammered, quickly grabbing the little girl’s hand.
The little girl looked puzzled, tilting her head to look at the aunt, and said in a childish voice, “It’s Mommy!”
“Yes, yes!” the aunt replied vaguely. Ji Yao, standing opposite, saw everything clearly.
This aunt wasn’t just flustered, she seemed terrified.
Just then, the door to Shi Yu’s room opened, and Ji Yao watched as the aunt cast a pleading glance toward it: “Mr. Shi.”
Shi Rui first hummed in acknowledgment, then realized something was off. He looked up at the auntie and the little girl and questioned, “Did you bring Panpan here?”
The little girl, Panpan, seemed even more afraid of Shi Rui than the auntie was. She shuffled her feet and moved to stand beside Ji Yao, hooking her small hand into Ji Yao’s and tilting her head up as if about to call out to her.
But Shi Rui moved swiftly, stepping in front of the two of them and picking up Panpan.
He then glared at Ji Yao.
Ji Yao: “?”
She hadn’t done anything.
Blinking hard a couple of times, Ji Yao watched as Shi Rui handed Panpan over to the auntie and instructed her to go into the hospital room before turning back to face Ji Yao.
His expression was even darker than before. Without caring about his appearance, he tugged at his tie and said coldly in a voice somewhat similar to Shi Yu’s, “Ji Yao, the reason we haven’t told Panpan your true nature is that we want her to grow up healthy and not be ashamed of you.”
“But remember this: trash like you isn’t fit to be Panpan’s mother, and don’t even think about using Panpan to get back together with Shi Yu.”
What???
Ji Yao, not only had she been married to Shi Yu.
But they had also divorced and had a child?
