Reborn as the Divorced Alpha Celestial Master - Chapter 2
An inexplicable irritation lingered in Ji Yao’s heart, though it wasn’t entirely because of the person standing before her Shi Yu or the words she had spoken.
It was because she couldn’t make sense of the situation. The memories of the past few years were a blank slate to her.
Yet, Shi Yu’s presence in her home made her realize that Shi Yu’s current state was undoubtedly the handiwork of “her.”
And so, the anger surged.
This was her house. How could Shi Yu come and go as she pleased without permission? And why was she dressed like this, as if she were imprisoned?
Ji Yao took a moment to calm herself before carefully examining the secondary bedroom, which also served as a study.
Unlike the vibrant living room and master bedroom, this room was decorated in dark tones, with heavy curtains and a pile of equipment in the corner whose names she couldn’t even recall.
Shi Yu, meanwhile, was tense, her arms crossed protectively over her chest, her eyes glaring at Ji Yao as if she were an enemy.
She kept repeating the same phrase:
“Don’t touch me.”
She was wary, almost frightened, her hands repeatedly starting to reach out only to be forcibly restrained mid-motion.
She was afraid.
Just moments ago, it was Shi Yu who had lashed out, yet now it was also Shi Yu who trembled, broke down, and couldn’t hold back her tears.
Perhaps the immediate priority wasn’t to figure out the situation but to get Shi Yu away from the floor, which was littered with shards of glass.
The rope on the ground, the pillow, and the disheveled bed all seemed to confirm Ji Yao’s suspicions.
Just then, her phone, still in her hand, rang. It was a message from the person with the shock of black hair.
[Let’s get down to business. Shi Yu has agreed to participate in the show.]
What show?
Ji Yao recalled the chat logs she had seen earlier, it must be the music variety show “You and My Song.”
And Shi Yu would undoubtedly be the most suitable candidate.
Before her transmigration, Ji Yao had been a devoted viewer of “Do You Want to Sing with Me.”
Back then, Shi Yu had burst onto the entertainment scene after participating in a talent show. Her involvement in that program had made her a nationwide sensation. At the time, Ji Yao was in college, chasing after Shi Yu’s performances and attending countless concerts. The closest she ever got was when a sasaeng fan rushed the stage, and Ji Yao managed to pull Shi Yu away before security could intervene.
She had followed Shi Yu’s schedule for years, ever since that fleeting glimpse of her in high school, a dream that had defined her youth.
She, too, had once been Shi Yu’s most ardent fan.
After graduating from college, it was because of Shi Yu that she had interned at “Do You Want to Sing with Me”.
And then…
There was no “then.” She had transmigrated, carrying the regret of never having worked alongside Shi Yu.
And now, inexplicably, five years had passed, and she found herself inexplicably “tied” to Shi Yu by someone she didn’t know or understand.
Ji Yao didn’t bother hiding her phone as she opened WeChat, and Shi Yu, standing not far away, clearly saw the message.
Unfazed, Ji Yao met Shi Yu’s gaze directly, the disdain in her eyes unmistakable.
Ji Yao froze, unsure how to react.
Her lack of response, however, seemed to calm Shi Yu down.
The flush in her cheeks faded, leaving her frighteningly pale.
The scent of pheromones in the room grew even stronger.
As an alpha, Ji Yao’s self-control was crumbling. She could no longer bear to share the same space with Shi Yu.
Taking a few steps back, she belatedly remembered that besides suppressants, there were also blockers. Without a second thought, she retreated further.
As she neared the door, she paused again.
She couldn’t quite figure out what was going on between her and Shi Yu at the moment, but there were things she had to say: “Wait here, I’ll go get the suppressant spray!”
She left without looking back, ignoring the soft, mocking laugh Shi Yu let out upon hearing her words.
There was no suppressant spray in the bedroom, so she headed straight for the living room, rummaging under the coffee table and the TV cabinet. Fortunately, she managed to find one.
Without a moment’s delay, she rushed back toward the bathroom.
When she had bought this apartment, Ji Yao had spent almost all her savings just to cover the down payment. At 150 square meters, it was quite spacious for one person, but she had loved it from the start, the large living room, the spacious kitchen and dining area.
But now, she only felt that it was too far.
So far that the back of her neck was starting to burn.
Her steps were no slower than before.
She was afraid that if she took too long, the pheromones of the alpha and omega would mingle too much, which would be bad for both her and Shi Yu. She practically leaned against the wall as she hurried back.
Even so, by the time she returned, Shi Yu’s condition had clearly worsened.
Hugging her arms tightly, her delicate eyelashes fluttering, she stared helplessly at Ji Yao.
Her damp, semi-transparent nightgown made her shiver uncontrollably as she forced herself to walk toward Ji Yao.
Tilting her head slightly, the sweet, sticky scent of clouds and mist seeped incessantly into Ji Yao’s nostrils.
Ji Yao, who had always struggled to resist an omega’s pheromones, felt her vision blur. It wasn’t until Shi Yu’s face drew closer and her arms wrapped around Ji Yao’s neck that Ji Yao began to regain her senses.
Shi Yu’s sharply defined jawline brushed against Ji Yao’s collarbone, and shamefully, Ji Yao’s heart skipped a beat.
Then, under Shi Yu’s dazed gaze, she snapped back to reality completely.
This kind of intimate embrace was clearly due to Shi Yu’s worsening heat symptoms, and “she” was still the root cause of it all.
Trying to separate herself from Shi Yu’s clinging body, Ji Yao took a sharp breath and mumbled, “Shi Yu, I found the suppressant spray.”
“What?” Shi Yu straightened her back, her watery eyes looking at Ji Yao in confusion.
When she realized what she was doing, Shi Yu recoiled as if electrocuted.
The hatred in her eyes was unmistakable.
Ji Yao bit her lip, standing still as she glanced at Shi Yao. Her legs, weakened by the omega’s pheromones, trembled slightly as she sprayed the suppressant.
She quickly closed the door.
Spraying the remaining suppressant over herself, Ji Yao regulated her breathing, trying to forget everything that had just happened. Leaning against the door, she called out to Shi Yu inside, “I’ll go buy the inhibitor.”
“Wait here for me.”
After speaking, Ji Yao didn’t leave immediately but waited for several dozen seconds.
She was waiting for Shi Yu to respond, to make sure she was okay.
But minutes passed, and she still received no reply. She had no choice but to open the bathroom door again.
Through the crack, she saw Shi Yu crouched on the floor, biting her lip hard, yet unable to suppress the sounds escaping her.
The pheromones had dissipated, but Shi Yu kept clawing at the back of her neck.
This wouldn’t do!
Both alpha and omega pheromones were sensitive and fragile. If this continued.
Without another thought, Ji Yao rushed in, grabbed Shi Yu’s arms, and lifted her into the air.
The damp, semi-transparent nightgown was indecent, so Ji Yao could only drape her own knitted cardigan over Shi Yu.
Unexpectedly, it fit perfectly. Ji Yao felt a bit detached as she wondered, what exactly was the relationship between ‘her’ and Shi Yu?
Why were Shi Yu’s clothes in the bedroom closet?
Just the knitwear wasn’t enough. Suppressing her annoyance, Ji Yao put pink down jackets on both herself and Shi Yu, holding the other person with one arm while dialing 120 with the other.
Shi Yu was a singer, an entertainer who worked under the spotlight, with a huge reputation. If she were seen at the hospital, it could mean headlines across major news outlets by the next morning.
But the situation was too critical; she couldn’t overthink it. She had no choice but to risk being photographed and head to the nearest hospital.
She waited outside the emergency department for omegas, not daring to leave or make any rash moves.
The physical discomfort was there, but it was still manageable enough for her to hold out until she could see a doctor.
After nearly an hour of waiting, Ji Yao finally saw the door open. The omega doctor in a white coat gave her a disgusted look, standing far away and asking in a low voice, “What is your relationship to the patient?”
“I, I’m…” Ji Yao’s tongue tied, unable to articulate exactly what she was to Shi Yu.
This only deepened the omega doctor’s look of disgust, who then said sharply, “No matter what your relationship is with the patient, you should not have used a forced heat-inducing drug or an expired suppressant!”
“What? Ugh!”
Ji Yao had barely uttered a syllable when someone forcefully slapped her on the back. Caught off guard, she stumbled.
But as the second blow was about to land, Ji Yao turned around. She didn’t know who this person was, but she grabbed his wrist firmly and shoved him away hard.
“Ji Yao! What have you done to Shi Yu now?!”
The newcomer was a male omega, his appearance somewhat resembling Shi Yu’s, especially those angry, reddened eyes.
It inexplicably reminded Ji Yao of Shi Yu, who had told her to get lost in the bathroom.
She had no defense and kept her mouth shut, even the anger in her heart subsiding a little.
But the other person clearly wasn’t done. He grabbed Ji Yao’s sleeve and said fiercely, “If anything happens to Shi Yu, I’ll make sure you’re kicked out of the TV station! Let’s see how you’ll keep being a producer then!” Without waiting for Ji Yao’s reaction, he turned to the doctor to ask about Shi Yu’s condition.
“I’m Shi Rui, Shi Yu’s older brother. How is she doing now?”
“The patient’s heat was forcibly induced, and the expired suppressant has caused minor damage to her gland.”
“What should we do? Can it be treated?”
Shi Rui’s voice trembled slightly, his previously straightened back now slumping. His concern and worry were written all over his face.
Ji Yao listened to the doctor’s words, then quietly retreated several steps, avoiding the light so that others couldn’t see her clearly, and no one paid her any attention.
An expired suppressant.
She hadn’t intentionally given it to Shi Yu. And clearly, it had caused her discomfort too, the burning pain at the back of her neck flared and faded intermittently.
She gritted her teeth to stay clear-headed. Fortunately, years of experience had given her a resilience she didn’t have before. She didn’t collapse and could still hear the doctor explaining Shi Yu’s condition.
“The patient is already over thirty years old, currently at the peak of pheromone activity. Without long-term alpha comfort, their condition was already far from ideal. Such intense stimulation will likely make their subsequent estrus cycles extremely difficult to endure. Having a partner’s assistance would yield better results.”
“If not, then my recommendation.”
The subsequent words grew too faint for Ji Yao to discern clearly as her consciousness wavered.
She only heard the sound of high heels fading into the distance, followed by hurried footsteps approaching her.
As if danger-awareness was etched into her bones, Ji Yao instinctively raised her arm to block Shi Rui’s incoming fist.
“Ji Yao!” Shi Rui’s voice rang out. Ji Yao looked up at him.
Shi Rui was a male omega who typically carried a delicate demeanor, but now his bulging veins and rolled-up shirt sleeves had completely stripped away his usual refined appearance. He looked ready to fight Ji Yao to the death.
But Ji Yao had no such desire, she neither wanted to be hit nor to hit him.
So, she quietly reminded him: “You can’t beat me.”
This single sentence completely shattered Shi Rui’s self-control. He believed Ji Yao was provoking him, mocking an omega for overestimating his own capabilities.
Forgetting they were in a hospital requiring quiet, he swung his fists recklessly at Ji Yao while cursing viciously: “I really fucking can’t understand it! There are plenty of alphas more attractive than you! Shi Yu must have been blind back then to insist on marrying scum like you!”
