- Chapter 2 - Little Emperor Man
Today was a memorable day.
Because this was Jiang Man’s first time going out with her mother since she had turned into a fake toddler.
Usually, her mother would occasionally go out with some beautiful aunties, but she often left Manzai who couldn’t speak or walk with her deeply resentful grandmother.
Strictly speaking, this was Jiang Man’s first time going out!
What was the outside world like?
Would cars fly in the sky? Would fish swim in the air?
The little one’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, like two jars of honey, and her face beamed with a smile so radiant it could melt hearts.
After wrapping Jiang Man’s hands in protective towels, Jiang Feng embraced her beloved and escorted the mother-daughter pair to the entrance of the mansion, reluctantly bidding her wife goodbye with a kiss.
As the fruit of their love, Jiang Man had already grown accustomed to the daily, overly affectionate displays between her two deeply-in-love mothers, who were practically glued to each other.
At first, Jiang Man, a young woman who had never been in a relationship and was now posing as a toddler would shyly cover her eyes with her little hands.
Later, she gradually learned to use her chubby arms to carve out a small breathing space for herself between her mothers whenever they couldn’t resist kissing.
But now, rather than being a sweet, shiny little third wheel, Jiang Man was far more eager to go out! To play!
Lifting her hands, which were bundled up like little dumplings, she patted her mother’s shoulder urgently, babbling “Woo-ya, woo-ya,” and pointed toward the red gate just a few steps away.
Her impatient little antics amused everyone present, including those in the live stream.
The thought of her wife being away for two days and one night, spending the entire day with other women, made Jiang Feng unbearably upset.
Looking down, she saw that her own daughter, this little traitor, was actually urging her wife to leave quickly to leave her behind.
The usually mature, steady, and decisive Chairwoman Jiang instantly transformed into the ultimate, maxed-out version of a childish fool.
With both hands, she “ferociously” pinched Jiang Man’s chubby cheeks on either side: “You little heart-stealing thief! Not only are you stealing my wife, but you’re also in such a hurry to make her leave me!”
Held securely in her mother’s arms, Jiang Man, with her infinite confidence, was not afraid of this oversized childish ghost!
Puckering her little mouth quickly, she made a swift motion.
“Pfft!”
Jiang Feng, who had always appeared stern and imposing whether in solo financial reports or alongside her wife in entertainment news, was now sprayed with the toddler’s milky-scented drool. She stood there frozen, utterly dumbfounded.
It took a long moment for Jiang Feng to snap out of it, only to see the little one leaning back into her wife’s arms, flashing her a triumphant, mischievous grin.
The stern and imposing Chairwoman Jiang instantly turned into a pitiful, wronged big dog, wrapping her arms around her wife’s waist and burying her head in Liu Ying’s neck, deliberately pushing the toddler aside.
“Wuwu, honey, look at her!” Jiang Feng, acting like a clingy dog, half-crouched and leaned into Liu Ying’s embrace, pretending to sob pitifully while sneakily giving the toddler’s pink, chubby cheek a retaliatory pinch.
Neither mother nor daughter had a mature mindset.
Snuggled in Liu Ying’s arms, they fought like cats and dogs.
The camera crew nearby was completely stunned.
By the time the mother-daughter duo finished their scuffle, it was almost noon.
The producer glanced at the time and held up a whiteboard, signaling to the only mature person in the scene.
Fortunately, unlike Jiang Feng and Manzai, Liu Ying was a mature actress who had won all major film and television awards.
Holding the babbling baby, she took a step back and raised her other hand to cover her lover’s face.
The mature referee, Liu Ying, called a halt in this mother-daughter competition for the affection of their wife/mother.
Pinching Jiang Man’s little mouth shut, Liu Ying turned to Jiang Feng and said, “For the next two days, you are not allowed to pull all the clothes out of the closet and scatter them on the bed; you are not allowed to have irregular meals, I’ll be checking up on you; and you are not allowed to pull all-nighters at the office or in the study. Understood?”
Jiang Feng, the woman competing with Jiang Man for Liu Ying’s affection, knew she was at a disadvantage compared to the little one. So, she stood at attention obediently and saluted, her voice firm and resolute: “Yes, boss! I’ll make sure to complete the mission!”
But in front of her wife, Jiang Feng couldn’t stay serious for more than a minute. She immediately leaned in again, showering Liu Ying’s cheeks with clingy kisses.
Jiang Feng kissed the left cheek, and Jiang Man kissed the right.
The two, who looked so much alike, had their competitive spirits reignited, treating Liu Ying’s cheeks as their battlefield. In no time, her face was covered in slobber.
Sandwiched between them, Liu Ying clenched her fists in frustration.
Unsurprisingly, as guest stars for this episode of the show, Liu Ying and Manzai arrived late, looking fresh and vibrant.
Sitting in the production team’s van, Liu Ying wore a stern expression as she wiped her reddened cheeks with a wet wipe provided by the producer. Meanwhile, Jiang Man, seated in her infant car seat, craned her neck curiously, looking left and right.
To be honest, Jiang Man was a little disappointed.
The scenery outside didn’t seem much different from the world she had known before.
Cars still only ran on the ground, unable to fly in the sky; fish still swam in the water, not in the air.
On camera, the little one’s small shoulders slumped heavily, her face flushed red from being pinched by her mischievous mother, Jiang Feng, now tinged with a hint of worry.
She looked like a disappointed adult.
Her lively and expressive little face made everyone inside and outside the livestream soften and chuckle.
The car drove for a long time, and by the time they finally reached their destination, Jiang Man had already fallen asleep.
The half-asleep little one was picked up by her mother. She cracked her eyes open just a slit, recognized her mom, and closed them again, reassured.
“Huff, huff…”
It felt as if many intense gazes were fixed on her, making Jiang Man furrow her little brow uneasily even in her sleep.
Suddenly, she opened her eyes.
The moment she did, she was met with two pairs of curious eyes and one pair.
Her little brain, still lacking in vocabulary, couldn’t quite find the words to describe that gaze.
With a baby-style spin, the chubby little one sat up, her tiny bottom wriggling, and found herself surrounded by three children of similar age.
“Pfft?”
Tilting her head in confusion, Jiang Man looked at the three little ones who had woken her with their stares.
“Mmm-ya~” Hello there~
“Ooh-ya, Man! Pfft?” I’m Manzai! And you?
Seeing her enthusiastic greeting, the resident little guests weren’t about to let the moment turn awkward.
A little one with a chick-feather badge pinned to their chest crawled forward confidently and greeted her back: “Mm-ya! Pfft-wah!”
A gibberish exchange, like chickens talking to ducks.
With different versions of baby talk, they couldn’t understand each other, making communication the biggest hurdle among the little ones at the moment.
After a long back-and-forth, all Jiang Man gained from the little one with the golden feather badge was a snuggle. As for any information about the three suddenly appearing children.
She. Had. Absolutely. No. Clue.
Jiang Man sighed, then looked up at the chubby little faces of the toddlers.
Suddenly, it dawned on her.
At that moment, her hands, wrapped in mittens, began to itch faintly. She finally understood why mothers always loved to kiss and hug her so much!
Cupping her cheeks, Jiang Man narrowed her eyes as she gazed at the three plump little faces before her.
They were just too adorable!
Her hands, itching to pinch those chubby cheeks, twitched with excitement as she flashed a bright smile at the toddlers.
The production crew often brought in new toddlers, but Jiang Man was the first who wasn’t the least bit shy and even actively snuggled up to them.
With her cute appearance, light brownish-yellow hair, honey-colored eyes, and chubby cheeks Jiang Man wasn’t just unafraid of strangers; her smile was as warm as a little sun.
This kind of child was irresistibly charming to both adults and other toddlers.
She was like the dazzling sun in the sky, possessing a magic that made people want to chase after her and follow her.
Another toddler toddled over.
Soon, they surrounded Jiang Man on both sides.
Like a little emperor, Jiang Man snuggled with one toddler and patted another, thoroughly enjoying herself.
It wasn’t until after playing with her little companions for a while that the little emperor belatedly remembered there was still one lonely toddler she had forgotten.
How could this be!
With a righteous air, the little emperor reflected deeply on her failure to treat everyone equally.
She looked up and saw the toddler with emerald-green hair and eyes still sitting in the same spot. On the bib covering the toddler’s chest was a small badge shaped like a turquoise snake.
Come to think of it, all three toddlers had small badges on their bibs, and each was different.
One had a little chick feather, another had a little professor, and the last had a pretty little snake.
Jiang Man looked down at her own empty bib and couldn’t help but let out a confused “Wua?” sound.
Hearing her, the toddler with the snake badge moved.
She held onto a small stool on the floor and wobbled unsteadily to her feet.
Using the stool as a makeshift walker, she pushed it shakily toward Jiang Man.
Her unsteady steps made Jiang Man’s heart leap into her throat.
She watched the little snake-badge toddler with bated breath.
One step, two steps.
The toddler steadily parked her stool “walker” in front of the little chick-feather toddler.
Then, with a casual push, she abandoned the stool and plopped down right beside Jiang Man, stretching out her chubby little arms to hug Jiang Man tightly.
“Mine,” she declared.
The pretty little snake-badge toddler wore a serious expression but held Jiang Man tightly, as if staking her claim against the chick-feather and professor toddlers.
“Puh-ya?” Jiang Man looked at the pretty toddler in confusion. Did this little one just speak?
“Mine? Puh-ya?” Little one, what does “mine” mean?
The pretty toddler didn’t explain. Instead, she hugged Jiang Man even tighter.
For the first time, Jiang Man experienced the feeling of being unable to breathe and it was at the hands of a toddler!
Though Jiang Man had survived being tightly hugged by her mom and mother, she never imagined there was always someone stronger. In this world, there existed a pretty toddler with such immense strength!
She raised her mittened hands, trembling in the air.
Help! Someone, save the emperor!
There’s a toddler trying to squeeze the little emperor to death!
Jiang Man was about to witness the moment when the adorable little snake-badge cub voluntarily released her, right beside the charming little bridge where the beautiful aunt was simmering a pot of fragrant, rich soup.
Taking a deep breath, Jiang Man expanded her diaphragm and opened her mouth wide to draw in oxygen.
