Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 7
Ye Youyi had originally planned to head straight to the audition venue. Even without her agent’s recommendation, she was determined to fight for a chance on her own.
But with her knee injured today, and Qiu Qiu having gone home, her plans hit a slight snag.
Still.
She lifted her gaze toward the Alpha beside her, who was gently dabbing away her tears with a tissue, and decided her luck wasn’t all that bad after all.
Wasn’t this somewhat foolish Alpha just perfect for her to make use of? Besides, hadn’t she herself said they were old classmates—and that she was more than willing to help?
“But” Ye Youyi’s fingers brushed lightly over the bandaged knee, her eyes glistening with helpless tears. “But the audition is in two days. If I’m like this”
She already said she needs help—just take care of her! If she can’t make it to the audition, she might miss her only chance to climb higher in the entertainment industry! The system, watching the plot take a slight turn, urged Wen Tang earnestly.
But its voice barely registered in Wen Tang’s mind. All her attention was locked on the clear, deer-like eyes gazing at her. She couldn’t resist anymore—lifting her hand, she ruffled Ye Youyi’s hair. “If your friends or family can’t take care of you, if you don’t mind, let me help you.”
Feeling the warmth on her head, Ye Youyi had the strange impression that this Alpha was coaxing her like a child.
She bit her lip lightly and leaned a little closer.
Tilting her body at just the right angle to highlight her fragility and beauty, her slender neck arched gracefully, lashes quivering like raven feathers, and the tears still clinging to the corners of her eyes shimmered with a faint, seductive haze.
Wen Tang watched her inch closer, and in the next moment, heard her soft, honey-sweetened voice ask:
“Then, how are you going to help me?”
Wen Tang: !!!
Wen Tang instinctively pressed a hand to her chest, overwhelmed by how irresistible Ye Youyi’s tender, syrupy tone was.
“I can’t do anything right now and you can’t be by my side all the time.” Ye Youyi’s lips parted ever so slightly, her words dripping with deliberate temptation.
Wen Tang paused. That was a fair point. With her leg injured, Ye Youyi could hardly stand, much less manage daily life alone.
If she was to take care of her properly, wouldn’t that mean they’d need to live together for a while?
Wen Tang reached up and touched the inhibitor patch at the back of her neck. Though she was an Alpha, she considered herself straight—so there shouldn’t be any issue, right? She only worried whether Ye Youyi would mind her being an Alpha.
“If you don’t mind, I could stay with you and take care of you until your assistant returns. Then I’ll leave.” Afraid of startling her, Wen Tang quickly added, “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you. I like men.”
The Alpha’s fox-like eyes shone with sincerity. Ye Youyi tilted her head, mulling over whether to believe her.
If what she said was true—that she only liked male Omegas or male Betas—then hadn’t all her earlier assumptions been wrong?
That realization left Ye Youyi vaguely unsettled.
She couldn’t quite believe that this Alpha, who had gone out of her way to approach her and insist on helping, wasn’t actually interested in her.
No one gives without a reason. People help either for gain, or because they’re foolish enough to think they can win affection with sincerity.
She knew her own worth—just a small-time actress with no standing. How could she possibly be valuable enough for Wen Tang to treat her so unconditionally well?
And hadn’t Wen Tang herself admitted she’d seen her a few times back in high school? If someone could look her up and remember her name after just a few encounters, there was no way she was entirely without intention.
Already drawn into the game by Wen Tang’s push-and-pull sincerity, Ye Youyi felt the urge to toy with her spark to life. Her brows furrowed just slightly. “But the place I live in now, I share it with Qiu Qiu. It wouldn’t be proper for an Alpha to stay there.”
Wen Tang blinked. She hadn’t thought of that. But back in her original world, there had also been a distinction between men and women, so having Alphas and Omegas separate here made sense.
If she couldn’t stay in an Omega’s home, then surely an Omega staying in hers would be fine, right?
“My place is spacious. Why don’t you stay with me instead?” Wen Tang suggested without a trace of ulterior motive.
Ye Youyi caught the innocence in her tone.
She smiled faintly to herself, then after a moment of feigned hesitation, nodded. “I suppose that’s the only option.”
Wen Tang’s apartment had been bought with her savings. Originally two bedrooms and a living room, she had converted it into one bedroom and a study. Not too big, not too small—perfectly suitable for two people.
Helping Ye Youyi into the living room, she settled her on the sofa, then fetched a brand-new pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet and placed them before her. “These haven’t been worn before. They might be a little big, but you can use them for now. I’ll go down later and buy a proper pair for you.”
Ye Youyi’s gaze slid from the slippers back to Wen Tang. She pressed her lips together and smiled sweetly. “No need to trouble yourself. These are fine.”
Wen Tang nodded, turned on the air conditioner, then took two glasses from the fridge and gave them a little shake. “What would you like to drink?”
Her bright, unguarded smile made Ye Youyi’s vision blur for a moment.
It had been a long time since she’d seen such simple, sincere joy on someone’s face.
As her mind cleared, a memory of the scene in Silverlight’s restroom flashed unbidden in her thoughts.
Something about it made her stare fixedly at the tall Alpha, her tongue brushing her lips. “I’d like pear syrup with rock sugar, if that’s alright.”
Wen Tang nodded and headed for the kitchen.
Though the original host had been gloomy and aloof, she’d also been a foodie. The fridge was always crammed full of all sorts of food and drinks.
Following the memory in her mind, Wen Tang walked over to another freezer in the kitchen. After rummaging around for a while, she finally found a big jar of rock sugar pear drink.
She twisted off the lid, poured a full glass, then paused. Considering that Ye Youyi was injured, she wasn’t sure if she should be drinking something cold.
Standing by the doorway, she called toward the living room, “Do you want it cold or warm?”
Ye Youyi hadn’t expected Wen Tang to even ask her preference on such a small detail. Keeping a polite smile on her face, she replied, “Warm.”
As the Alpha’s figure disappeared from view, Ye Youyi leaned back against the sofa, frowning slightly. She closed her eyes uneasily, yet Wen Tang’s cool, sincere face kept resurfacing in her mind.
She had to admit—this was the first time in her life an Alpha had treated her with such genuine kindness. And this kind of care in the little things was completely different from those who once tried to buy her affection with money.
She pressed a hand to her chest and let out a self-deprecating laugh.
But such kindness was useless. In the entertainment industry, everything came down to one word—profit.
Sincerity, what good was that?
Having thought it through, she sat up again, her brows relaxing. After glancing toward the kitchen, her eyes began to wander around the room.
Meanwhile, Wen Tang had just placed the glass of pear drink into the microwave when she suddenly heard the system’s uncertain voice in her mind:
“Hey don’t you think the way Ye Youyi said she wanted pear drink just now sounded a little seductive?”
Wen Tang blinked at the light glowing inside the microwave. “Seductive? To who?”
The system smacked its lips. “Who else? Obviously to you! Don’t forget—your pheromones smell like pear.”
“Hm? My pheromones smell like pear?” Wen Tang froze. “Why haven’t I ever noticed that?”
She raised her hand and sniffed around curiously.
“Are you stupid? Outside of susceptibility periods, if you don’t deliberately release your pheromones, no one can smell them. And right now you’re even wearing a suppressant patch—there’s no way any scent could leak out.”
Watching her sniff around like a dog, the system rolled its eyes in disgust. “The only reason you didn’t notice before is because you were too busy trying to pounce on an Omega to pay attention.”
“Think about it. Just now when she said she wanted pear drink, wasn’t she staring right at you? Those watery eyes of hers were practically hooking your soul!”
Wen Tang recalled the moment. Ye Youyi had been looking at her, true, but it hadn’t seemed that intense, had it?
“Don’t talk nonsense. She’s just an innocent little girl. How could she possibly be trying to seduce anyone? If she looked at me, it was only out of courtesy. You can’t exactly talk to someone while darting your eyes all over the place, can you?”
The system thought it over and reluctantly agreed. Maybe it really had misread things. After all, it only knew the plot direction, not the detailed personalities of every character—other than the original Wen Tang.
Ding—
The microwave finished. Wen Tang carried out the warmed pear drink and set it on the coffee table in front of Ye Youyi. “It’s not hot, you can drink it now.”
Ye Youyi cupped the glass and took a small sip. Sweet, refreshing pear spread across her tongue. She looked up at Wen Tang with a soft, delicate smile. “It’s delicious. Thank you.”
It was the second time the girl had thanked her, and Wen Tang felt a little embarrassed. “We’re classmates. Saying thank you is too polite.”
Ye Youyi’s eyes sparkled with understanding. “Alright, then I won’t say it anymore.”
As soon as the words fell, her face blossomed into a radiant smile, her crescent-moon eyes so clear and bright they were unforgettable.
Wen Tang quickly averted her gaze, noticing how dark the sky outside had grown. Pulling out her phone, she checked the time.
“It’s already almost seven!” The sight of the numbers made her stomach grumble. “What do you want for dinner?”
She opened a food delivery app and scrolled down.
Ye Youyi thought of how Wen Tang had just opened the fridge, revealing shelves packed with ingredients, and asked curiously, “You’re ordering takeout?”
Catching her gaze toward the fridge, Wen Tang paused, then said naturally, “If you don’t want takeout, that’s fine. I can see what I can cook.”
She walked over, opened the fridge, and stared at the overflowing ingredients with a headache.
The original Wen Tang could cook—and quite well, too. But she, who had lived twenty-six years in another world, had never cooked a single meal in her life.
The memories were in her head, but whether she could actually pull it off was another matter.
Still, there was no escaping it now. With the fridge this full, if she admitted she couldn’t cook, Ye Youyi would definitely find it strange.
Maybe, just something simple.
She grabbed a few ingredients, glanced at Ye Youyi gazing at her from the sofa with expectant eyes, and walked into the kitchen with the heavy steps of someone heading to their doom.
Ye Youyi watched her back disappear inside, baffled. Why did she look so much like a warrior going to her death?
Later, when Wen Tang helped her sit at the dining table, and she saw the two strange-looking dishes laid out before her, realization finally dawned.
So she really couldn’t cook?!
Then why had she stocked the fridge like that?!
Though shocked, Ye Youyi didn’t let it show on her face. She picked up her chopsticks, took a tiny piece of tomato, and dropped it into Wen Tang’s bowl. “First bite for the chef~” she teased, before taking another piece for herself.
