Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 49
After getting out of the taxi, Qiu Qiu looked up at the hospital building and broke into a run toward the entrance, only to be stopped by security.
They asked what she was here for, and she hurriedly explained that she was visiting a friend.
The guard frowned, asking further about her identity, until she mentioned that Wen Tang had sent her. Only then did he step aside and let her through.
Qiu Qiu was too anxious to think much of it and immediately ran toward the inpatient department.
Under a nurse’s direction, she finally found herself standing outside the ward. She was about to push the door open when the nurse stopped her, knocked lightly, and gently asked if Ye Youyi would allow her to come in.
Qiu Qiu could only look up at the ceiling, speechless. Once she heard Ye Youyi’s soft assent, she pushed the door open and stepped inside.
When she saw the pale-faced girl sitting up in bed, her heart finally loosened.
She grabbed a paper cup from the table, filled it with water, and gulped it down before turning back to Ye Youyi. “Thank goodness you’re alright. You have no idea how scared I was last night!”
As she spoke, she lifted the quilt and gently took Ye Youyi’s wrist, checking for injuries.
But when she saw faint bruises along her wrist, her brows knitted. Her gaze then drifted upward—and her heart sank when she noticed a red mark circling Ye Youyi’s neck.
She hesitated, suddenly unsure if she should ask.
“What exactly happened last night?”
Ye Youyi’s complexion was ashen; even her once-rosy lips had lost all color. She looked like a fragile flower scattered by the wind—pitiful and defenseless.
“Someone kidnapped me,” she said quietly. “Locked me in a dark room. Wen Tang found me in time and got me out.”
She stated it simply, flatly, as though recounting someone else’s story. But that calm only made Qiu Qiu ache more deeply.
Not wanting her to dwell on the trauma, Qiu Qiu quickly changed the subject. “You just focus on resting. Don’t worry about the film crew—Brother Wang Lin already spoke to Director Li. They’ll rearrange the schedule and film other scenes for now.”
As she rambled on about the production, Ye Youyi seemed absentminded, lost in thought. Then, suddenly, she spoke up.
“I want to go back to filming.”
Qiu Qiu blinked. “Wait—what did you just say?”
Ye Youyi’s eyes reddened instantly. She no longer tried to hide her emotions; like a frightened rabbit, she looked small and helpless. “I.., I don’t want to stay here anymore.”
Qiu Qiu hadn’t seen her cry in so long. Watching her tears spill down now, she felt both shocked and heartbroken. “What’s wrong? Why won’t you rest here for a few days? Director Li said your safety comes first—don’t worry about the crew.”
She assumed Ye Youyi was just worried about delaying the shoot.
But her words offered no comfort. Ye Youyi’s eyes shimmered with tears, her trembling lashes making her look unbearably fragile.
“Qiu Qiu, I don’t want to be here.”
Qiu Qiu had never seen her this distressed. Unable to refuse those tearful eyes, she bit her lip and sighed in defeat. “Alright, alright. I’ll go get your discharge papers.”
She dabbed away Ye Youyi’s tears with a tissue. “Wait here, okay? I’ll take care of it.”
At the reception hall, Qiu Qiu frowned after several minutes of back-and-forth. “Why can’t we process a discharge?”
The nurse avoided her eyes. “Miss Ye’s injuries haven’t fully healed. She still needs to stay under observation.”
Something about her tone didn’t sit right. Qiu Qiu narrowed her eyes but didn’t argue. She turned and went straight back to the ward.
“This is weird,” she muttered the moment she entered. “They’re refusing to discharge you. It’s like they’re scared of you leaving or something! What kind of hospital acts like that?”
Ye Youyi’s expression froze.
Then, without a word, she threw the quilt aside, yanked the IV needle from her arm, and slipped on her shoes.
“Then we’ll skip the paperwork,” she said. “Let’s just go.”
Qiu Qiu gaped, startled.
Something felt off—as if the hospital wanted her to stay, and Ye Youyi was desperate to flee. Was it just her imagination?
Dodging the patrolling nurses, the two quietly slipped out of the inpatient ward.
At the main entrance, Ye Youyi looked toward the security booth. “When you came in,” she asked, “did you tell them you were here to see me?”
Qiu Qiu shook her head, confused. “No, but the guard asked. I just said I was visiting a friend, and he let me through. Why?”
Ye Youyi didn’t answer. She drew a steadying breath and walked toward the door.
The guard spotted them and frowned—one of them was wearing a patient gown, and the other was the visitor he’d just let in earlier. Recognition flashed in his eyes: this must be the young lady Wen Tang personally brought in last night.
He stepped forward hurriedly. “Miss, do you need any assistance?”
Ye Youyi looked at him coolly. “I’m leaving.”
The guard hesitated. His superiors had been clear—this patient was to remain and rest. How could he let her go?
“I’m sorry, but without formal discharge papers, you can’t leave the premises.”
Ye Youyi’s patience snapped. She just wanted out. Closing her eyes, she spoke in a cold, sharp voice: “I know why you’re keeping me here. But if you keep stopping me, I’ll tell Wen Tang you’ve been mistreating me.”
At the mention of that name—and her threat—the guard froze, suddenly unsure what to do.
“Step aside,” Ye Youyi said, brushing past him. She grabbed Qiu Qiu’s hand and strode out the gate.
It wasn’t until they’d hailed a taxi and climbed inside that Qiu Qiu finally asked, bewildered, “What was that all about? What do you mean you’ll tell Wen Tang they were mistreating you? I don’t get it.”
Having escaped the Wen family’s private hospital, Ye Youyi finally felt some of the suffocating pressure ease off her chest. But beneath that relief was still a deep, searing pain.
Seeing her close her eyes, Qiu Qiu could sense she was fighting something inside and decided not to press further.
Back at their shared apartment, Qiu Qiu helped Ye Youyi lie down on the bed.
When Ye Youyi returned to her small apartment, her expression was clouded with sorrow. She swallowed the ache in her chest and told Qiu Qiu the decision she’d made on the way back.
“Qiu Qiu, I’m going to break up with Wen Tang.”
“What?” Qiu Qiu stared at her in disbelief.
Why all of a sudden?
Back when Xiao Ye first got together with Wen Tang, Qiu Qiu hadn’t liked the woman much. But later, seeing how carefully Wen Tang looked after her—how they were always so sweet together—she’d gradually come to accept her.
She had even thought, judging by their feelings for each other, that they’d eventually get married.
Yet now, Ye Youyi was saying they were breaking up?
But when Qiu Qiu saw the pain written all over Ye Youyi’s face, she hesitantly asked, “Does Wen Tang know you’re breaking up with her?”
Ye Youyi bit her lower lip. “She doesn’t know yet.”
Hearing that, Qiu Qiu realized—this was Ye Youyi’s decision alone.
“But, weren’t things between you two just fine? Why do you suddenly want to end it?”
Holding back her tears, Ye Youyi said softly, word by word, “She’s the eldest daughter of the Wen family. She, she’s going to marry the Ning family’s daughter.”
It took a long time before Qiu Qiu could process what she’d just heard.
She couldn’t believe it—Wen Tang, the celebrity’s personal assistant, was actually the eldest daughter of the Wen family, the most powerful of the Four Great Clans?
It took Qiu Qiu a while to digest that fact. But when she remembered Ye Youyi’s words about Wen Tang marrying someone else, she frowned. “How did you find out about all this?”
Normally, with families like the Wens, marriage arrangements would be handled in absolute secrecy. So how did Ye Youyi get that information? Could it be that the Ning family’s daughter had found out about her and deliberately told her—just to make her back off?
“You know Wang Lin, right? Ning family’s young master’s boyfriend. He’s the one who told me,” Ye said, her tone heavy as she recalled the humiliation of that morning.
Qiu Qiu thought for a moment. Wang Lin was technically part of the Ning family circle, which meant he definitely hadn’t told Ye Youyi out of kindness.
Even if he was Ye Youyi’s manager, they’d only worked together for less than six months. To him, she’d never be as important as his future sister-in-law from the Ning family.
“Xiao Ye, did you ask Wen Tang about it?”
At the mention of Wen Tang’s name, Ye Youyi’s expression faltered. “No.”
“There, you see? You haven’t even asked her—so how can you be so sure she’s going to marry that Ning girl?”
Ye Youyi’s heart trembled. Right. She hadn’t even asked Wen Tang. How could she have believed Wang Lin’s words so easily?
Maybe it was because the moment she heard Wen Tang was going to marry someone else, the pain in her heart was so sharp she couldn’t think at all.
Qiu Qiu sighed. “Love falls apart fastest when there’s doubt, and it survives only through honesty. I know you’re hurting, but you have to be strong. You can’t let someone else’s words shake your faith in Wen Tang’s feelings for you.”
She knew what Ye Youyi was really like inside.
Ye Youyi had always been used to being alone. Aside from herself, she had almost no friends. She looked tough on the outside, but whenever she faced something too painful, she’d just curl up like a little turtle and hide in her shell.
But love doesn’t survive by hiding. When you run away from it, you only end up hurting both yourself and the one you love.
“Find a chance to meet with Wen Tang,” Qiu Qiu said gently. “Talk to her face-to-face. Don’t throw away your relationship just because of what someone else said.”
At the Wen family estate, after sending off Madam Ning, Wen Tang was led by Meiru into the presence of the old matriarch.
“Sit down.” The old lady’s voice was calm, but she looked quite pleased with Wen Tang’s obedience today. “Tomorrow, go visit Ning Xu. Spend more time together and build a good relationship. Once you’re married, you two should live a harmonious life.”
Wen Tang lowered her gaze, listening quietly without a word.
“Ning Xu was raised with great care. She’ll make a fine wife,” the old lady continued. “Also, Madam Ning despises mistresses more than anything. After the wedding, you must treat Ning Xu well. Don’t you dare fool around outside.
Otherwise,”
Her tone turned cold. “I’ll deal personally with any indecent Omega who dares approach you. Do you understand?”
There wasn’t the slightest trace of a smile on the matriarch’s face; the droop of her mouth made her look all the more terrifying.
Wen Tang closed her eyes briefly. “Understood.”
When she returned to her courtyard, the old lady’s threat still echoed in her ears. A troubling thought rose in her mind—did the matriarch know something? Did she already know about Ye Youyi?
Beep, beep, beep.
Her phone rang. Wen Tang frowned and picked up. “What is it?”
On the other end, the hospital director sounded panicked. “Miss Wen, Miss Ye—she’s been discharged!”
Wen Tang immediately hung up, anxiety twisting her chest. Worried about Ye Youyi’s condition, she rushed out the door and headed for the garage while dialing Ye Youyi’s number.
“Where are you?”
There was a long silence on the other end. Wen Tang softened her voice. “The doctor said you were discharged. Where are you now?”
“Wen Tang, let’s meet,” Ye Youyi said quietly, gripping her phone. “There are some things I want to tell you in person.”
Then the line went dead.
Wen Tang tightened her grip on the steering wheel and tapped open her screen. A message had popped up—a location pin from Ye Youyi.
Her pulse quickened. A strange, uneasy feeling spread through her, as if something was about to slip out of her control.
With one sharp press of the accelerator, she sped toward the address.
Half an hour later, she parked, took the elevator, and pressed for the top floor.
Soon, she was standing at the entrance of the Xingyue restaurant.
It was early evening, and the place wasn’t too crowded. The moment she stepped in, she spotted Ye Youyi sitting quietly by the window.
Wen Tang walked over quickly and sat across from her.
Seeing the girl’s calm, delicate face, she finally felt a flicker of relief. “Your injuries haven’t healed yet. Why did you leave the hospital?”
But Ye Youyi didn’t answer. She just gazed at her quietly, then spoke in a low voice.
“Wen Tang, you’re the eldest daughter of the Wen family, aren’t you?”
