Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 46
The night was utterly still, as though the world had been swallowed by a dead, motionless lake. Not a single sound broke the silence.
Wen Tang lowered her head, her voice quiet and restrained.
“..After leaving the Wen family, I finally realized how hard it is to survive out there. I regret talking back to Grandma that day—regret not listening to her. But I was afraid she wouldn’t want to see me again, so I never dared to come back.”
At this, she lifted her gaze, eyes filled with tender longing.
“Not long ago, Aunt Mei told me you’d fallen ill and that you missed me terribly. That’s why I finally gathered the courage to return tonight—to see you.”
The gentler Wen Tang’s voice became, the more turbulent her heart felt. She knew that, in the end, she was walking the same path as her predecessor—seeking favor from the old matriarch all over again.
Old Madam Wen regarded her, half-believing, half-doubtful. She stared into Wen Tang’s eyes; when she saw the faint traces of weariness and loss within them, she finally lifted her chin slightly, signaling for Wen Tang to sit.
“So, you’ve finally realized home is better after all?”
“Yes.” Wen Tang’s tone carried both anticipation and fear, as if terrified that the old lady might drive her out again. “After leaving, I understood, everything Grandma did was for my own good.”
Her humility and submission eventually softened the old lady’s heart. She had always enjoyed seeing once-defiant youth bow their heads in remorse.
“Since you’re back, then stay. Be good and stay home.” Old Madam Wen’s voice carried satisfaction now. “You know I’ve always acted for your sake. From now on, you must listen obediently, understand?”
Everything had been decided. Wen Tang’s voice flattened, losing all emotion.
“Yes, Grandma. From now on, I’ll listen to you.”
“Your courtyard has been kept clean all this time. Go rest there.”
After speaking for a while, the old lady began to feel tired.
As Wen Tang reached the doorway, Old Madam Wen added,
“The day after tomorrow, go visit the Ning family and see Ning Xu. They sent word not long ago that she’s still unwell. Remember to comfort her properly.”
Wen Tang’s fingers tightened on the doorknob. She knew what this meant—her return to the Wen family also meant she would once again be forced into a political marriage with Miss Ning.
But now, she no longer had the right to refuse.
Her voice was low and steady. “Yes, Grandma.”
Only when Wen Tang’s figure disappeared down the corridor did Old Madam Wen exhale and rub her brow, weariness etching deep into her face.
If not for her worsening health—and the Ning family’s recent insistence on finalizing the marriage alliance—she would never have allowed Wen Tang back so easily.
When she stood, a sudden wave of dizziness struck her.
She quickly called for Meiru to help her back upstairs.
After washing up under her maid’s care, the old lady lay down on her bed, frail and slightly hunched.
“You heard what Wen Tang said just now?”
Meiru’s hands paused mid-motion as she massaged her legs. “Yes, Madam.”
“How much of it do you think is true?” The old lady spoke as though discussing the weather, eyes closed.
Meiru hesitated, gauging her mistress’s expression before answering cautiously, “The young lady has always lived in luxury. After leaving home, she must have suffered quite a lot.”
“That’s why,” Old Madam Wen murmured faintly, “people with desires are the easiest to control.”
Wen Tang returned to her own courtyard under the pale moonlight. As soon as she entered the house, she went upstairs and immediately called Wen Qi.
At that moment, Wen Qi had just landed in Beijing. She strode quickly through the airport. “Miss.”
“Use every resource at our disposal. I want Ye Youyi’s whereabouts before dawn.”
Wen Qi froze for only a heartbeat—then she understood. The young lady had chosen to return to the Wen family.
“Understood.” She knew all too well what Ye Youyi meant to her mistress—and what it meant for Wen Tang to go back home.
Acting under Wen Tang’s authority, Wen Qi mobilized the Wen family’s influence in secret, ensuring neither Old Madam Wen nor Wen Xin would be alerted. Every connection and channel was quietly set in motion to locate Ye Youyi.
It was already one in the morning. The moon hung high above, spilling light that seemed to strip away every shadow.
In the eerie stillness, it felt as if no one else existed.
Ye Youyi stirred faintly. Bound hand and foot, she slowly regained consciousness. Her lashes fluttered, but the darkness was so heavy she couldn’t make out anything around her.
She tried to move, but sharp pain shot through her limbs. She dared not struggle again.
Who had kidnapped her?
She remembered clearly—just before losing consciousness, she had finished filming and was on her way back to the small house she and Qiu Qiu were temporarily renting.
There were no streetlights nearby. Like the night before, she had used her phone flashlight to light her way.
But just as she was about to reach the door, someone appeared behind her—pressing a cloth over her mouth.
A pungent chemical scent filled her nose. Panic surged through her, and she tried to hold her breath, but it was already too late.
The next instant, everything went dark.
At this moment, she realized her clothes were still intact, and there was no discomfort in her body—only her hands and feet were tightly bound.
That meant the person who had kidnapped her wasn’t after her body.
The drug’s effects hadn’t fully worn off yet. Ye Youyi’s head still throbbed faintly, her thoughts sluggish and blurred. She couldn’t yet figure out who would want to harm her. All she could do was lean against the cold wall behind her, trying to steady her breathing and gradually recover her strength.
Her wrists, tied behind her back, pressed against the rough wall. She began rubbing the rope against it—slowly, bit by bit—hoping to wear it down and break free.
Time crawled by until the sound of footsteps echoed from outside.
Ye Youyi quickly shut her eyes, pretending she was still unconscious.
The place seemed to be a sealed room—no windows, no visible door. She could only rely on the footsteps outside to judge what was happening.
When the sound stopped to her left, she shifted slightly in that direction, straining her ears to make out how many people were there.
Then she heard a man’s low voice murmur,
“That omega inside, she’s pretty damn good-looking. Skin so soft and pale, that little waist—looks like you could wring water out of it. Since we’re the ones guarding her anyway, what’s the harm in having a little fun?”
Ye Youyi’s entire body trembled. She bit down on her lip so hard she almost drew blood, not daring to make a single sound.
“..But the boss told us to keep an eye on her,” came a hoarse female voice, hesitant.
The man pressed on, “The boss just said don’t let her run away. He never said we can’t play, did he?”
When the female Alpha still looked unsure, the man walked slowly toward the door.
“An omega this fine—normally, only people on top get to enjoy someone like her. We finally get a chance, and you’re gonna waste it?”
The female Alpha hesitated for a moment—then seemed to convince herself it made sense.
After all, she’d caught a glimpse of the omega earlier. Even unconscious, she was breathtakingly beautiful.
Her heart began to pound. Rubbing her palms together, she followed the man into the room under cover of the night.
As the door opened, Ye Youyi cracked her eyes open just enough to glimpse the door’s location under a sliver of moonlight.
Then the door shut again, and two sets of heavy breaths filled the room.
In the darkness, her vision was useless—so her sense of smell sharpened.
She caught the faint scent of Alpha pheromones from the two who had entered, and panic surged through her chest.
The rope around her wrists was almost undone. She could feel it loosening—but not quite. Desperation pushed her to move faster.
The friction made a soft sound—too loud. Both Alphas heard it.
The man pulled out his phone and switched on the flashlight.
Under the dim glow, he saw the omega slumped against the wall. Her long black hair had come undone, a few strands falling across her face, making her porcelain skin appear even paler by contrast. Her lips—rosy and soft—looked dangerously tempting.
Then he noticed her arms moving behind her back, rubbing against the wall. His expression shifted.
“She’s trying to untie herself!”
Before he finished speaking, he lunged toward her.
In that split second, the rope snapped free. Ye Youyi twisted away, rolling to the side just as the man pounced. In the faint light, she scrambled to loosen the ties around her ankles.
The female Alpha saw her partner miss and realized Ye Youyi’s hands were already free. She rushed forward and seized Ye Youyi’s wrist.
The cold touch against her skin felt like a serpent coiling around her arm.
Disgust surged in Ye Youyi’s chest. She lowered her head and sank her teeth hard into the Alpha’s hand.
Her teeth pierced the skin; the metallic tang of blood filled her mouth. Still not satisfied, she bit down even harder.
With a cry of pain, the female Alpha released her—but fury flared in her eyes. She grabbed a handful of Ye Youyi’s hair, slammed her against the wall, and clamped a hand around her throat.
“You dare bite me?”
Blood trickled from the bite mark on her hand as she tightened her grip around Ye Youyi’s neck.
The male Alpha rushed over, laying a hand on her arm with a glint of desire in his eyes.
“Don’t kill her! The boss said we can’t let her escape—or die!”
At that, the female Alpha flung Ye Youyi to the floor.
With a loud thud, pain exploded through Ye Youyi’s body. She curled up, trembling, every muscle screaming in agony.
“I’ve lost interest. If you want to play, go ahead,” the woman sneered, wiping the blood from her hand. She gave the motionless omega a final glance and muttered,
“Be careful,” before stepping out.
The door opened, and for an instant, moonlight spilled into the room. Ye Youyi stared toward it, struggling to stand—but her entire body hurt too much to move.
When the door closed again, the light vanished.
The sound of the man’s heavy breathing filled the silence as his footsteps drew closer.
Unable to move, Ye Youyi felt despair swallow her whole.
