Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 4
The lingering softness of that delicate touch still seemed to remain at the corner of her lips, and Wen Tang’s face burned with embarrassment.
Before falling into this novel, she had lived for twenty-six years without ever liking anyone—let alone hugging someone, much less kissing them.
And yet today, she had held a gentle, soft girl in her arms and kissed her for what felt like forever. It was enough to make anyone both flustered and mortified!
“Don’t be so shy. Ye Youyi went to Silverlight today because something happened,” the system clicked its tongue twice, sounding almost human. “Didn’t you even notice she was crying when she fell into your arms?”
What??
Wen Tang touched her head, trying to recall. When Ye Youyi had looked up at her, those pitiful eyes really had been shimmering with unshed tears.
Seeing that she remembered, the system quickly issued the next task:
“Ye Youyi ran into some trouble during her audition for the supporting female role in Moon Spirit Chronicle. Your job is to help her solve it.”
“So the plot’s moving forward now?” Wen Tang asked. When the system confirmed, she nodded. “Got it.”

Under the dim light, Ye Youyi pushed open the door and stepped inside, looking utterly disheveled.
The room was bright, the floor-to-ceiling windows reflecting the bustling glow of the city center outside—only making the lifeless emptiness of this apartment stand out more starkly.
From inside came the sound of footsteps, then a head with loose hair peeked out.
“How did it go today?”
Ye Youyi set down her bag, pulled a bottle of mineral water from the fridge, and drank most of it in one go to cool the restless heat in her chest. Only then did she look at Qiu Qiu, who had come closer, and shook her head.
“Bai Yuqing snatched it. I didn’t get the part.”
Bai Yuqing—heiress of the Bai family. Perhaps because she was an Omega, her family hadn’t stopped her from entering showbiz. On the contrary, they carefully paved the way for her.
Qiu Qiu pressed her feverish head with a sigh.
“Last time you didn’t get the supporting role in Immortal’s Quest, and now you missed the third female lead in Moon Spirit Chronicle too. Why does everything feel so unlucky lately?”
Then, half-jokingly, she added, “Do you think we should go pray to the gods or something?”
But Ye Youyi didn’t react. She just hugged the bottle, staring into space.
That was when Qiu Qiu realized something was off. Her gaze dropped—and she saw faint red marks on Ye Youyi’s slender neck. Her groggy mind instantly sobered.
“What happened today?!”
The faint scent of snow pear hung in the air, and Qiu Qiu’s face fell.
“Don’t tell me another Alpha bullied you?!”
She smacked her own head in frustration. Originally, she was supposed to accompany Ye Youyi to the audition, but after catching a fever from last night’s shower, Ye Youyi insisted she rest at home instead.
Qiu Qiu had agreed because Director Li Zheng of Moon Spirit Chronicle had a spotless reputation in the industry—never once rumored to harass Omegas. Surely it was safe.
But now.
Hearing Qiu Qiu’s words, Ye Youyi shook her head, then nodded slightly.
“No one bullied me. I, I chose to help her.”
Her voice was barely above a whisper, but Qiu Qiu heard it clearly.
“Her? Who?”
Setting the bottle down, Ye Youyi’s tone turned indifferent.
“Just someone unimportant. We probably won’t cross paths again.”
With that, she ignored Qiu Qiu and went into the bathroom to wash away her disheveled state.

The Bai family held some influence in the capital, though not quite at the top tier. Still, with a little digging, the truth could be uncovered.
In a bright study, Wen Tang rubbed her temples as she read the documents Wen Qi handed her.
It was all laid out clearly: Bai Yuqing had her eye on the third female lead in Moon Spirit Chronicle, so she convinced her family to invest money and lock the role in advance. Director Li Zheng, who had favored Ye Youyi, had no choice but to let her go.
There were only a few ways to make Bai Yuqing give up the role.
First, expose how she used her family’s power to edge out the competition. Under public backlash, the Bai family—who cared about their reputation—might withdraw funding, forcing her to quit.
But the odds were fifty-fifty. And even if Bai Yuqing gave up the role, it wasn’t guaranteed Ye Youyi could take it back. What if Bai Yuqing, out of spite, targeted her afterward? Human hearts were unpredictable.
Second, fight fire with fire: invest even more money to push Bai Yuqing aside.
But this wasn’t very feasible either. Such blatant backing would only make Ye Youyi a target of suspicion and scrutiny. Besides, Wen Tang’s identity as a Wen family daughter hadn’t been revealed yet, and she couldn’t invest in their name.
As for her personal funds, well, she didn’t have that much money.
Pressing her forehead, she sighed deeply.
“How do I help her without drawing attention or making her enemies? This is so hard.”
The system offered no help—it was bound by the plot.
“At least if you recall the original storyline and figure it out yourself, that doesn’t count as a spoiler,” it said reluctantly, seeing her nearly tear her hair out.
But Wen Tang had only skimmed the novel originally. She remembered the broad strokes, not the details.
Just as she was sighing for the nineteenth time, her phone rang.
“What the hell are you doing?!” As soon as she picked up, Wang Lin’s furious voice roared through the line.
“I told you to take Xiaojiao to Silverlight, but instead you beat up Brother Ming and Brother Yang! Now not only did we lose the role, you’ve offended the Yang family too! Do you have a death wish?”
For once, Wen Tang’s patience snapped. Her voice went cold.
“So you’re saying that when I escort Zuo Xiaojiao to Silverlight, I’m also supposed to serve myself up as part of the deal?”
“What do you mean, serve yourself up?” Wang Lin froze in surprise.
“You don’t know?” Wen Tang arched a brow.
“Explain.” His voice was curt.
Judging from his tone, he really didn’t know. Wen Tang’s voice softened a little.
“Last night, after I dropped Zuo Xiaojiao off, she tried to offer me to that so-called Brother Yang. You honestly didn’t know? I thought you set it up.”
The other end fell silent.
Then Wang Lin cursed under his breath before answering.
“That wasn’t me. I may be ruthless, but you’re not in the industry—I wouldn’t drag you into this filth. Zuo Xiaojiao acted on her own. I’ll deal with her.”
His tone turned sharp with sarcasm.
“She even told me you were trying to seduce Brother Yang to get into the industry, and when he rejected you, you lost your temper and hit them. I was about to arrange another audition for her in one of Director Li’s other roles just to pacify her. Forget it. Let her rot in obscurity.”
Wen Tang chuckled.
“You really don’t know what kind of person she is? And you believed her?”
“I’ll handle it. You just lay low for a few days.” With that, Wang Lin hung up, clearly rushing to confront Zuo Xiaojiao.
Leaning back in her chair, Wen Tang closed her eyes in thought.
She didn’t care what happened to Zuo Xiaojiao or the Yang family. What mattered now was fixing the problem with Ye Youyi’s stolen role.
Suddenly, she sat up straight.
“Hey, Dummy, did Wang Lin just say Director Li is still holding auditions for other roles in Moon Spirit Chronicle?”
“Yeah, so?”
A smile spread across Wen Tang’s face.
“Then I’ve got an idea.”

“Today, following an anonymous report of unfair competition practices at Bai Enterprises, the tax bureau has launched an investigation.”
The news blared on TV. Qiu Qiu, in the middle of yoga, stared wide-eyed before leaping to her feet. She rushed excitedly into Ye Youyi’s room.
“Xiao Ye! Guess what I just saw?!”
Ye Youyi had just woken up, yawning delicately, clearly uninterested.
“What?”
“The Bai family’s under investigation!” Qiu Qiu was overjoyed. “They must be in chaos now. If their investments get pulled, doesn’t that mean the third female lead in Moon Spirit Chronicle might open up again?”
The news instantly cleared the sleep from Ye Youyi’s mind.
Whether or not the Bai family withdrew, whether or not the role became vacant, she was determined to fight for it again.
She had already lost the supporting role in Immortal’s Quest. She couldn’t afford to let the Moon Spirit Chronicle role slip away too. This news only strengthened her resolve.
Just as she was planning how to make another attempt, Qiu Qiu suddenly gasped from the doorway, clutching her phone.
“I swear the heavens are blessing us!” Her eyes brimmed with tears of excitement as she looked up. “Director Li Zheng just posted on Weibo! Because of some changes in the casting, there will be new auditions the day after tomorrow!”
Ye Youyi hurriedly grabbed her phone and opened Weibo.
After reading, she bit her lip.
“But, the third female lead isn’t listed.”
Qiu Qiu checked again. Sure enough, it wasn’t among the roles. Her face fell, ready to console Ye Youyi.
But Ye Youyi’s expression remained calm.
“That’s fine. As long as I can meet Director Li, there’s still a chance.”
