Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 31
The dinner lasted for a little over two hours before it finally ended.
As Wang Lin and Ning Wei left, Ye Youyi quietly tugged on the sleeve of Wen Tang’s jacket.
Wen Tang turned her head slightly. “What’s wrong?”
The alpha’s expression was calm and composed—so natural that Ye Youyi began to wonder if the person Young Master Ning had mentioned earlier really had nothing to do with her. Maybe she had just imagined it?
After all, Ning Wei hadn’t said anything further.
Still, the thought itself was too shocking to ignore. Ye Youyi bit her lip and cautiously asked, “Wen Tang, that person Ning mentioned earlier, do you know them?”
Wen Tang hadn’t expected her to ask so directly.
Her position in the Wen family was an awkward one. The old matriarch had never publicly acknowledged her identity and had even tacitly agreed to let her continue working as an assistant at Xinghua Entertainment.
Perhaps now wasn’t the right time to tell Ye Youyi the truth.
So, she smiled faintly, reaching out to pat the girl’s head. “I don’t know them. I’m just an ordinary person—how could I possibly have anything to do with one of the Four Great Families like the Nings?”
Although Wen Tang’s tone was perfectly natural, Ye Youyi couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
But since Wen Tang had said it so earnestly, she decided to believe her—just as Wen Tang had always believed in her before.
She pushed the matter aside. There were more important things right now.
Letting go of Wen Tang’s sleeve, she gently took her hand instead.
The moment their palms met, a bright smile bloomed on her face. “Then let’s stop worrying about everything else and go somewhere with me, okay?”
Wen Tang glanced down at their joined hands, then nodded softly. “Alright. I’ll go wherever you take me.”
And so, the two of them—who had barely eaten a few bites during dinner—ran off hand in hand, one leading and one following.
The night breeze had turned chilly, brushing across their faces as they ran. Yet amid the cool air, a tender warmth unfurled in their chests, spreading slowly through them both.
That warmth—rising from the heart and flowing through every vein—made the touch of their clasped hands feel searing, unforgettable.
As Wen Tang watched the girl’s hair flutter behind her in the wind, catching that faint, sweet scent that was uniquely hers, she unconsciously sped up until she was running side by side with her.
“Are you cold?” she asked, turning to look at her.
It was already October in the capital, autumn settling in. Ye Youyi was only wearing two thin layers—she must be freezing at night.
Ye Youyi slowed down, stopping beside Wen Tang. Bracing her hands on her knees, she took deep, heavy breaths, but her eyes sparkled brightly. “Not cold.”
Still catching her breath, she straightened up again and slipped her hand back into Wen Tang’s, her slender fingers brushing lightly against the alpha’s palm.
Taking advantage of the charming night, she leaned in close, her voice soft as a whisper by Wen Tang’s ear. “See? You’re so warm. Holding your hand like this, how could I possibly feel cold?”
Her omega voice was sweet and delicate, every exhale tickling the shell of Wen Tang’s ear, making her instinctively want to lean away.
But before she could, the omega had already stepped back, widening the distance between them as if nothing had happened.
“Let’s go,” Wen Tang said, coughing lightly to hide the fluster in her voice before striding forward.
Behind her, Ye Youyi watched the seemingly flustered alpha’s retreating back, lowering her head with a quiet laugh before trotting after her.
Around ten o’clock, Ye Youyi led Wen Tang into an elevator.
The surroundings felt vaguely familiar. Wen Tang looked around, and then it struck her—wasn’t this the elevator to the revolving restaurant the old lady had once booked for her and Ning Xu?
As she noticed the floor number Ye Youyi pressed, a bad premonition stirred deep in her chest.
“You’re taking me to the rooftop revolving restaurant?”
Her low, even voice reached Ye Youyi’s ears, surprising her that Wen Tang even knew about it. But since they were almost there, she decided not to hide it.
“Mm-hmm. The food there’s actually really good. I wanted to take you to try it—to thank you for everything you’ve done for me.” Her eyes softened as she added, “I know one meal can’t compare to your help, but it’s my way of showing gratitude.”
Wen Tang froze for a moment at that.
“I told you before,” she said quietly, “there’s no need to say thank you between us.”
Hearing her say between us, Ye Youyi’s heart lifted with joy. Did that mean Wen Tang already considered her someone special?
“Not just to thank you,” she murmured in her heart, cheeks warming. I also wanted to call it a date.
But she didn’t dare say that last part out loud. Instead, she lowered her head shyly, missing the fleeting struggle in Wen Tang’s eyes.
“Ding.”
The elevator doors slid open at the top floor.
Ye Youyi took Wen Tang by the wrist and led her quickly toward the restaurant entrance, her steps light and buoyant.
The hostess greeted them with a practiced, professional smile. “Good evening, ladies. May I ask which table you’ve reserved?”
“Hello, I’m Ye — I reserved Table No. 8.” Ye Youyi gave the phone number she used for the reservation.
After confirming, the waiter led them inside.
As they reached their table and sat down, Wen Tang turned her head slightly toward the floor-to-ceiling window, her gaze landing on the familiar night view outside.
This was the exact same spot where she had waited for Ning Xu that day.
Was the world really this small? Or was this some kind of death-flag moment?
She rubbed the bridge of her nose, forcing herself to look back at the scenery as if nothing was wrong.
Once Ye Youyi had finished ordering, she passed the menu over with a cheerful smile. “What would you like? Don’t be shy—tonight’s on me.”
Still feeling a little awkward, Wen Tang glanced at the menu and randomly picked a few dishes before handing it back to the waiter.
The waiter repeated their order for confirmation, gave a professional smile, and left.
Once out of sight, she placed the order slip on the counter, then nudged her coworker with her shoulder and whispered, “Hey, that Alpha just now looked really familiar. Doesn’t she look like that rich woman who booked out the entire Xingyue last time?”
The other waitress immediately put down her papers, craned her neck toward the window seats, and tried to peek through the decorative greenery—though she couldn’t see much.
“For real? That rich lady’s back? Why didn’t she book the whole place again like last time?”
“How would I know? But she brought an Omega tonight. Looks like the one she was waiting for that time. Super pretty too—like a celebrity.”
Their manager, who had overheard most of their gossip, gave two sharp coughs behind them. Both waitresses immediately shut up.
“Don’t gossip about customers.” Adjusting the bow at her collar, the manager gave them a stern look. “Focus on your work, not on idle talk.”
Then she followed a server carrying a tray toward the window-side table.
Though the view outside was breathtaking, Ye Youyi hardly spared it a glance. Her eyes were fixed on the Alpha sitting across from her.
Maybe it was because the restaurant’s lights were a soft amber, but the normally cold and distant Wen Tang looked almost gentle under that glow.
The heating was set comfortably high, and as the warmth settled in, Wen Tang rolled up her sleeves, revealing slender but firm wrists. Her coat hung loosely open, and the top two buttons of her shirt were undone—enough to give her that refined yet faintly dangerous air of someone who looked proper on the surface but secretly wasn’t.
Ye Youyi’s gaze followed the line of her collarbone, pale skin gleaming faintly in the warm light, like untouched snow glistening atop a mountain peak. The sight made her heart race with a strange, forbidden urge.
She quickly turned her head away, trying to calm her pulse by staring into the vast darkness outside the window.
“Excuse me.” The waiter returned to place the dishes on the table, arranging them neatly before quietly stepping aside.
The manager followed, smiling politely as her eyes flicked from the radiant Omega to the cool Alpha. “Good evening.”
The greeting made Wen Tang’s internal alarm go off. She coughed lightly, shooting the manager a subtle look—don’t you dare say anything.
“Good evening,” Wen Tang replied smoothly, lowering her voice a little. “Is there something we can help you with?”
Fortunately, the manager understood at once.
“Ah, I just wanted to ask if you’d like some live music tonight?” The polite smile stayed in place, her tone perfectly professional.
Wen Tang mentally gave her a thumbs-up.
Then she turned to Ye Youyi and said with a faint smile, “Since you’re treating me to dinner, why don’t I treat you to some music?”
Ye Youyi blinked, a little stunned. Wen Tang, usually so restrained, was actually taking the initiative tonight. Could it be that she knew what this dinner meant to her?
The sound of a violin soon drifted over from the distance—soft, elegant, and tinged with warmth, wrapping the night in a delicate, ambiguous haze.
Ye Youyi bit her lip and nodded shyly.
The manager, catching the signal, clapped her hands lightly, summoning the musician closer.
As the graceful melody filled the air, Ye Youyi lifted her glass toward Wen Tang.
Wen Tang met her gaze, lips curving into a subtle smile before she gently tapped her glass against Ye Youyi’s.
A faint chime echoed between them—quiet, intimate, like a spark slipping into both their hearts.
Wen Tang took a small sip, forcing down the restless feeling rising in her chest. Across the table, Ye Youyi looked just as flustered. Her fair cheeks were tinged with pink, glowing even more tenderly in the candlelight.
Dinner ended in that quiet, unspoken intimacy that lingered between them.
As they descended the stairs, the night breeze brushed against them, cool and slightly sharp. Ye Youyi swayed a little, feeling dizzy.
She rubbed her temples and called softly toward the Alpha who was fetching the car, “Wen Tang, I feel a little lightheaded.”
Wen Tang turned immediately, car keys in hand. Seeing the flush still on the girl’s face, her brows knit in mild surprise. “You’re not drunk, are you?”
She stepped forward and caught her before she could stumble.
Ye Youyi leaned naturally into her arms. Wen Tang patted her shoulder. “You really are drunk?”
The girl tilted her head back, her eyes shimmering like a river of stars. “No, just a little dizzy.”
A gust of wind swept past, carrying a chill.
Ye Youyi burrowed deeper into Wen Tang’s embrace, her small hands circling the Alpha’s slim waist as she murmured, voice soft and sweet like spun sugar, “It’s so cold, take me home, okay?”
