Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 25
“Since she’s so petty, then we’ll give her a taste of her own medicine. Find evidence that she framed Ye Youyi—and once we have it, wait for the perfect moment to post it online. Let her experience what it’s like to be burned by the fire she started.”
Wen Qi accepted the order quietly and hung up.
Over the past few days, the internet had been in constant uproar. Rumors about Ye Youyi “seducing Director Zhang Yuan to climb the ranks” had turned into a complete mess.
Fortunately, everyone on set was busy filming. With Director Li Zheng personally speaking up, no one dared confront Ye Youyi directly; they only gossiped behind her back.
Still, Yu Mianyue and Lin Shuang were irritating to deal with. One would mutter sarcastic remarks whenever she saw Ye Youyi, while the other pretended to be naïve—asking all sorts of nosy questions as if she didn’t know any better.
Wen Tang had already told Ye Youyi that Bai Yuqing was behind this whole scheme, and that she was gathering evidence. They only needed to wait for the fire to rage its brightest before dousing it with a bucket of cold water—catching everyone off guard.
So, even with the unfriendly stares from the crew and the passive-aggressive remarks from Yu Mianyue and Lin Shuang, neither Wen Tang nor Ye Youyi took them too seriously.
To keep Bai Yuqing from growing suspicious, Ye Youyi had to act the part. On set, she would often wear an expression of loneliness and quiet despair, as though crushed by the weight of public opinion.
Her assistant Qiu Qiu, who knew nothing of the plan, was constantly worried. Every time filming wrapped, she would rush to take Ye Youyi back to the hotel, unwilling to let her endure the strange looks of others.
Two days later, Wen Tang was still asleep when her phone began to ring violently.
She pressed her pillow over her head, trying to block out the shrill sound—but the relentless ringing forced her awake.
With a groan, she tossed the pillow aside and grabbed her phone. Seeing the caller ID—Old Madam Wen—only made her more irritable.
She took a steadying breath and answered.
“What took you so long to pick up? Are you still in bed?” came the old lady’s sharp voice the moment the call connected. “Did you forget your appointment with the Ning family’s young lady today?”
Wen Tang rubbed her messy hair, trying to sound polite. “I know.”
Looks like there was no escaping this tonight. Still, maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing—she could use the opportunity to talk things through with Ning Xu. If she could persuade her to back out, that would buy her some time to breathe.
“It’s good you remember,” the old lady said, sighing when she caught the coolness in Wen Tang’s tone. “You should settle down and have children sooner. Once you do, I won’t have to worry so much and can finally let you go out into the world to gain experience.”
Wen Tang tuned out the rest automatically.
After a few perfunctory responses, she finally hung up, exhausted.
She flopped back onto her bed, staring at the ceiling. “Er Que,” she muttered to her system, “what do you think would happen if I just stopped caring—refused the arranged marriage, refused to have children?”
“What else? She’d probably kick you out of the Wen family and have Wen Xin marry some live-in Alpha instead to carry on the bloodline,” the system replied bluntly.
Wen Tang sighed. She had thought of that too. If she outright defied the old lady, she’d be cast out. Without the family’s protection or access, she’d have no way to control things from within—and her life would be in danger.
Freedom or survival—it was a cruel choice.
“Go anyway,” the system said. “Didn’t you already decide to talk things through with Ning Xu? Since you’ve made up your mind, don’t hesitate. Follow your heart.”
That was true. Things hadn’t reached the worst point yet. One step at a time—she would find a way.
Night fell. The neon lights of the capital glowed against the darkening sky, painting it a fiery red.
Inside a revolving restaurant overlooking the entire city, the lights were dim and tranquil.
Seated by the floor-to-ceiling windows, Wen Tang—dressed in a fitted women’s suit—ignored the curious glances occasionally cast her way.
Old Madam Wen, in a fit of extravagance, had booked the entire top floor of the restaurant for just two people: her and Ning Xu. Wen Tang found the whole thing absurd.
“Hey, who do you think she is? She actually booked out the whole of Xingyue tonight?”
“No idea. Never seen her here before.”
“Maybe she’s not from the capital?”
The staff whispered among themselves, intrigued by the unfamiliar woman.
The manager caught their looks and gestured for them to keep quiet. The last thing they needed was to offend a wealthy guest.
After smoothing down her jacket, the manager walked toward Wen Tang’s table and leaned slightly forward with a professional smile. “Good evening, miss. Have you decided what you’d like to order?”
Pulled from her thoughts, Wen Tang looked up briefly and pushed the menu aside. “Not yet. I’m waiting for someone.”
The manager nodded politely and retreated without another word.
Time passed. The sky outside darkened completely.
Wen Tang checked her watch—it was already 7:30, and Ning Xu still hadn’t arrived.
She raised an eyebrow. Maybe Ning Xu had come to her senses—realized that marrying an Alpha she barely knew would only lead to misery, and decided to cancel.
If that was the case, all the better.
Her gaze drifted back to the glittering cityscape outside. The scattered lights reminded her of Ye Youyi’s bright, crystalline eyes—beautiful and mesmerizing.
Ten more minutes passed. It was nearly eight, and Ning Xu still hadn’t shown up.
Wen Tang exhaled in relief, rose from her seat, and headed for the door.
Seeing her move, the manager quickly approached. “Is there anything I can assist you with, miss?”
“The person I was waiting for didn’t show,” Wen Tang said lightly. “No need to prepare dinner.”
The manager stiffened, worried something had gone wrong. “You don’t wish to dine anymore? But the kitchen has already prepared the ingredients for tonight—are you sure you won’t be eating?”
“The price we agreed upon still stands. You’ll get your full payment. As for the food—enjoy it yourselves.”
With that, Wen Tang unbuttoned her jacket and strode toward the elevator, long legs moving with effortless grace.
As she left, the restaurant staff exchanged delighted glances—if the guest paid without dining, it meant the prepared dishes were theirs to eat.
The moment Wen Tang stepped out of the elevator, a burst of noise caught her attention.
She turned her head slightly. At the other elevator entrance, a small crowd had gathered, murmuring anxiously.
She didn’t stop to investigate and continued on her way.
Just as she fastened her seatbelt inside her car, her phone rang again—an unfamiliar number.
She answered. “Who is this?”
“Wen Tang, it’s He Yiqiu! I can’t reach Xiao Ye—she’s not answering any of my calls! Can you help me contact her?”
Ye Youyi?
Wen Tang’s expression sharpened. “What happened? Where did she go?”
Qiu Qiu’s panicked voice came through the line. “She went back to the company this afternoon. She said since she skipped the press conference, Manager Min wanted to talk to her. She left around three, but she hasn’t replied to my messages or answered any calls since then. I’m afraid Manager Min might have”
Her voice trailed off, trembling.
She hadn’t wanted Ye Youyi to go, but the Omega had insisted, saying she didn’t want to offend Manager Min any further. To spare Qiu Qiu from the awkward scene, she even told her to stay behind at the hotel. But after leaving, Ye Youyi never contacted her again.
Now it was eight o’clock—five hours since she’d gone to the company. There was no way she hadn’t checked her phone even once. Not replying to calls or messages—something was clearly wrong.
Suppressing the anxiety rising in her chest, Wen Tang asked quickly, “You’re sure she went back to the company? She hasn’t contacted anyone else since leaving the hotel?”
“I’m sure,” Qiu Qiu said firmly. “She doesn’t have many friends. She basically just goes between school, the company, and the set. She wouldn’t go anywhere else on her own.”
After a few words of reassurance, Wen Tang hung up and immediately called Wen Qi. Her tone was sharp and cold.
“Find her. Right now. Locate Ye Youyi’s position immediately.”
The tension in her voice was unmistakable.
Wen Qi didn’t dare delay. She mobilized her network, searching for any trace of Ye Youyi’s whereabouts. She knew exactly how important this person was to her boss—failure was not an option.
About twenty minutes later, the collected information appeared on Wen Tang’s phone.
Her expression darkened as she read it.
Stepping on the accelerator, she drove straight toward the address displayed on her screen.
Under the muted glow of the city’s nightlife, Silverlight Club shimmered with understated luxury.
Wen Tang walked inside, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor.
The security guard at the inner entrance raised a hand to stop her. “Good evening, miss. Please present your membership card.”
Usually, familiar guests weren’t questioned—but strangers were always checked, to keep the high-end clientele comfortable.
The last time Wen Tang had been here was with Zuo Xiaojiao. She hadn’t expected to need a membership card now.
Before she could react, her system shouted in her mind, “You have one in your bag—quick, show it to him!”
She immediately rummaged through her purse and found a sleek, black-gold card tucked in the side pocket.
The moment the guard saw it, his demeanor changed entirely. He bowed respectfully and ushered her inside.
Pocketing the card, Wen Tang strode toward the private rooms.
But as soon as she entered the main hall, an Alpha in a sharp suit approached her.
“Good evening, esteemed guest,” he said with an ingratiating smile. “I’m the manager of Silverlight. May I ask which private room you’d like to visit tonight?”
Wen Tang ignored his obsequious tone and frowned slightly. “Can I go into any room I want?”
The manager hesitated, not understanding her intent, but nodded quickly. “Of course. Any room you wish—we’ll arrange it immediately.”
That confirmed her suspicion—the black-gold card she’d shown must be one of the club’s highest-tier memberships.
She didn’t know exactly how much authority it granted, but there was no time to waste.
“Then take me to the private room reserved by Miss Bai of the Bai family,” she said coolly.
