Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 21.3
Ye Youyi tucked her coat tighter around herself and jogged up to her, eyes shining. “I just finished shooting a night scene. What about you? Why are you out here this late? I thought you went home.”
Wen Tang hesitated for a beat, then replied casually, “There wasn’t much going on at home, so I came back. Work’s still more important.”
Ye Youyi tilted her head and playfully tugged at Wen Tang’s sleeve. Her smile was sweet, her eyes curving like crescent moons. “Since neither of us can sleep, how about a walk together?”
Maybe it was the sparkle in the Omega’s eyes—too bright, too inviting—but Wen Tang found herself nodding before she could think. “Alright. Where to?”
“There’s a beach about twenty kilometers from here. The sea breeze at night is amazing—let’s go!” she said, pulling Wen Tang along as she booked a ride on her phone. Spotting a convenience store still lit up nearby, she grabbed Wen Tang’s wrist and tugged her inside with a laugh.
The middle-aged shopkeeper behind the counter yawned, glancing up from her drama on her phone. Seeing the two girls walk in, she perked up and smiled. “Take your time. Pay at the counter when you’re ready.”
“Got it, ma’am.” Ye Youyi chirped with a grin, opening the refrigerator and browsing through the drinks.
When Wen Tang saw her pick up four or five cans of beer, she blinked in disbelief. “You’re drinking?”
Ye Youyi paid for the beers, then took Wen Tang’s hand again. “Beer and sea breeze—that’s the perfect combo!”
By the time they reached the beach, Wen Tang had already realized how impulsive the decision had been. But now it was too late to back out.
Sitting down on the soft sand, she accepted a can of beer from Ye Youyi with a faint laugh.
The ocean breeze brushed gently across her face. The distant waves rolled softly against the shore. For the first time that night, her heart began to calm.
She popped open the can, raised it toward Ye Youyi, and took a long, unbroken gulp.
The cold liquid rushed from her mouth to her stomach, leaving a trail of heat behind. When she finished, she let out a small burp and laughed. “So, this is what it feels like to drink a whole can in one go!”
Ye Youyi took a small sip of her own, then hurriedly stopped Wen Tang from grabbing another. “Wait—don’t tell me this is your first time drinking?”
“I’ve had some before, just never this much.” Wen Tang leaned back, listening to the wind and waves, feeling oddly free.
Bathed in moonlight, she turned to look at Ye Youyi’s radiant face and smiled. “I thought you’d be resting today. Why are you still working?”
Ye Youyi swallowed her sip and explained, “Well, the second female lead isn’t back yet, so the director filmed my scenes with Xu Zhao first. But she’ll be back tomorrow, so I finally get a day off.”
Wen Tang glanced at the faint shadows under her eyes. She realized Ye Youyi probably hadn’t slept for a whole day and night. Warmed by the alcohol, she reached out and gently ruffled the Omega’s hair. “You must be tired.”
The Alpha’s expression was soft, gentler than the moonlight itself.
Ye Youyi bit her lip, then smiled faintly. “Not really. I love acting—it never feels tiring.”
As Wen Tang’s hand lightly stroked her head, Ye Youyi relaxed completely, leaning into her touch. “Whenever I’m exhausted, I just drink a little, sleep it off, and wake up to a brand-new day.”
“That makes sense,” Wen Tang said, clinking her can lightly against Ye Youyi’s. “Cheers, then.”
The waves crashed, laughter mingled with the wind, and their voices carried far across the dark sea.
By the time the first light of dawn began to spread across the horizon, it was nearly five a.m.
Ye Youyi hugged her knees, half-asleep, shivering slightly in the chill of morning.
Wen Tang, still gazing at the rising sun, turned at the sound. Seeing Ye Youyi trembling, she immediately took off her jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
Surrounded by the Alpha’s faint pear-scented pheromones, Ye Youyi’s cheeks flushed pink. She ducked her head shyly. “But if you give me your jacket, won’t you be cold?”
Wen Tang smiled through her grogginess. “I’m fine.”
The horizon bloomed with color. In an instant, the sun leapt from the sea, spilling golden light across the waves.
Ye Youyi looked at Wen Tang, eyes wide in quiet awe. “This is the first time I’ve watched the sunrise with you.”
The sound of the surf drowned her words, and Wen Tang turned to ask, “What did you say?”
“I said—the sunrise is beautiful.” And so are you.
The rest of the words stayed locked in Ye Youyi’s heart. She simply gazed at the Alpha bathed in dawn’s glow, and, emboldened by alcohol and emotion, reached out to hold her hand.
Feeling the warmth of that touch, Wen Tang lowered her gaze, startled. “Why are you holding my hand?”
Instead of letting go, Ye Youyi tightened her grip and gave a soft, teasing laugh. “Because I’m still dizzy from last night’s drinking. If I don’t hold on to you, I might not be able to walk.”
Wen Tang’s ears turned pink. The Omega leaned closer, her breath brushing against her skin. “What’s wrong? Are you shy?”
Her playful tone made Wen Tang’s pulse race. The alcohol still buzzed faintly in her veins, and now, with the Omega’s warmth pressed against her, she felt as if she was drowning in sweet intoxication.
Then, as if to test her resolve, Ye Youyi rested her head on Wen Tang’s shoulder, arms curling around her neck. Wen Tang froze, struggling to contain the rising heat in her chest.
“Ahh, my head’s spinning,” Ye Youyi murmured softly, her breath fanning across the Alpha’s sensitive neck.
The warmth against her gland made Wen Tang’s pulse stutter. A strange heat pooled in her abdomen and spread through her limbs. She clutched her knees, forcing her voice steady. “You’re too close. I”
Ye Youyi lifted her head, giving her a small reprieve—only to lean in again, their faces inches apart. Wen Tang’s mind went blank. She could see the other woman’s parted lips, hear her uneven breath.
Her instincts took over. The Alpha cupped Ye Youyi’s face, slowly leaning closer, until only a finger’s width separated them.
Ye Youyi’s heart raced. Her breath quickened. Joy fluttered in her chest—anticipation, electric and alive.
But just before their lips met, Wen Tang abruptly turned her head away, leaning back to break the moment.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to,” she said quickly, her voice a little unsteady.
Ye Youyi bit her lip, swallowing her disappointment. “It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize.”
The sun climbed higher, and exhaustion began to overtake the Omega. Her eyes grew heavy. She looked up at the Alpha who still didn’t dare meet her gaze and said softly, “I don’t think I can walk. Will you carry me to the car?”
Her voice was as sweet as ever. Wen Tang hesitated, then sighed and gently gathered her into her arms.
“I’m so sleepy. Wake me up when we get there,” Ye Youyi mumbled, snuggling closer.
Wrapped in Wen Tang’s steady warmth, she drifted off, her breathing soft and even as the morning light touched the sea.
