Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 2
It was past one in the morning by the time Wen Tang finally got rid of the troublesome Omega, Zuo Xiaojiao, and returned home to collapse in bed.
“Today’s side mission has been completed perfectly. As a reward, you get a little bonus~”
The system’s voice echoed smugly in Wen Tang’s mind.
But at this point, she was utterly drained—body and soul—and had no interest at all. “Oh? Let’s hear it then.”
Her thoughts lingered on today’s encounter. For the first time, she had seen the original body’s “white moonlight,” Ye Youyi. But after such a brief meeting, Wen Tang felt the girl was far too soft and fragile, hardly suited for survival in the entertainment industry.
And if that was the case, how on earth was she supposed to help her gain a foothold there?
Ugh, what a headache!
“Tomorrow, you’ll be allowed to decide one thing entirely according to your own will…” The system gave a couple of exaggerated coughs, then solemnly announced this so-called reward.
According to her own will?
The moment she heard that, Wen Tang perked up, her voice no longer weary. “Anything at all?!”
The system chuckled slyly. “Not quite. It can only be something minor—something that won’t affect the overall direction of the story. And only one thing, no more.”
Wen Tang rolled her eyes and flopped back down. “Then it’s hardly worth having.”
“If you don’t want it, I can always take it back,” the system replied with mock regret.
Flat on her bed, Wen Tang closed her eyes. After being tormented until the middle of the night, she figured sleeping in tomorrow wouldn’t hurt. That shouldn’t count as changing the plot too much, right?
With that in mind, she lazily claimed her reward: “Then tomorrow morning, when Zuo Xiaojiao has her schedule, I won’t go with her. That’s fine, right?”
After a quick scan, the system chirped happily, “Approved! That counts as minor.”
With the answer she wanted, Wen Tang drifted off to sleep. Though she wasn’t thrilled with the so-called reward, even a mosquito was still meat, wasn’t it?

By the time the sun was high, Wen Tang was startled awake by a sharp knock at her door.
“Miss, it’s time for lunch.”
Half-drowsy, she fumbled for her phone.
Noon already!
She jolted awake, quickly sat up, and dressed as she asked in her mind, “What time is Zuo Xiaojiao’s audition this afternoon?”
The system’s unhurried reply came: “Relax. Three o’clock. You still have time for lunch.”
Plenty of time, then. Wen Tang pulled on her clothes, ran her fingers through her long hair, and opened the door to head downstairs.
At the Wen family’s matriarch’s small villa, she walked into the dining room to see Wen Xin seated at the old lady’s left.
Ignoring the disdainful glare sent her way, Wen Tang kept her expression cool and aloof as she sat on the matriarch’s right.
“Today’s a rare chance for the family to eat together,” the old lady said kindly, her silver hair framing a gentle face. “Meiru cooked all your favorite dishes. Come, have some.” She smiled warmly, clearly pleased to see the sisters at the same table, and placed their favorite food on each of their plates.
“Some people really have no shame, taking what doesn’t belong to them and acting like it’s theirs by right…” Wen Xin muttered just loud enough, sneering at Wen Tang, who ate in silence, expression unmoved.
Ever since the illegitimate Wen Tang had been brought into the Wen household, Wen Xin had loathed her. Not only had she learned that her late father’s true love had never been her mother, but what stung even more was that simply because Wen Tang was an Alpha, her grandmother had taken her in and was grooming her as the heir.
Then what did that make Wen Xin?
A child her father had never cherished? An Omega her grandmother didn’t value?
That bitter truth festered into a deep hatred for this so-called sister. Still, it had already been nearly three years, and their grandmother had yet to announce Wen Tang as heir. That meant if Wen Tang made a mistake, she could still be cast aside, couldn’t she?
And in the meantime, Wen Xin was still the Wen family’s eldest young lady in the public eye. Setting up obstacles for Wen Tang would be all too easy.
“Xin Xin, have you forgotten the rule against speaking at the table?” The old lady’s face darkened.
Chastised, Wen Xin begrudgingly fell silent, though not without shooting Wen Tang another scornful look.
From beginning to end, Wen Tang didn’t spare Wen Xin a glance, much less take her words to heart.
But the old lady, worried she might be hurt, called Wen Tang into the study after the meal.
Sitting by her desk, she spoke in a gentle, coaxing tone: “Xin Xin has been spoiled since childhood—her temper is like that. But she isn’t bad at heart. Don’t take her words to heart.”
Seeing Wen Tang’s calm, indifferent expression, she sighed. “Grandmother is getting old. These years of holding up the Wen family have been exhausting. Now I only hope you sisters can live in harmony. After all, Xin Xin is an Omega—one day she’ll marry out. You, as an Alpha, will shoulder the Wen family’s burden. That also makes you her natal family’s backing. On many matters, I hope you’ll be the one to compromise and not go against her. Do you understand?”
Toying with the pen in her hand, Wen Tang nodded, as if she had taken the old matriarch’s words to heart.
“Go on and take care of your work, get familiar with the family business sooner rather than later. Grandma is getting old—everything will depend on you.” After sending Wen Tang off, the old lady leaned back in her chair, rubbed at her temples, and instructed the servants to bring Wen Xin to the study.

The moment Wen Tang entered the garage, the indignant voice of the system echoed in her mind:
“This old lady is really something. It’s clearly Wen Xin making things difficult for you, yet she still tells you to give way. She says she’s relying on you, but hasn’t even made your identity public.”
Wen Tang started the car and drove off. Watching the Wen family mansion shrink away in the rearview mirror, she chuckled. “You’re just a programmed system, yet you can tell when someone’s playing favorites?”
The system puffed up proudly. “Of course! I’m the latest generation of artificial intelligence. I know plenty.”
After showing off, it circled back to the earlier topic. “Still, Wen Xin really does seem to hate you. You’d better stay alert in case she tries to sabotage you. On the surface, the old lady sides with you, but deep down she still treasures her granddaughter.”
“Got it.” Wen Tang wasn’t the original body’s owner, so the Wen family’s coldness didn’t wound her the same way.
Annoying as they were, as long as they didn’t actively harm her, she had no intention of treating them like the original did—expelling some, imprisoning others once she seized power.
For Wen Tang, simply being able to live well was more than enough.
So, she would finish the tasks, then completely kick back.
Following the route provided by the system, she arrived at Zuo Xiaojiao’s audition venue. After flashing her assistant’s credentials, she quickly made her way upstairs.
Glancing around the audition area, she spotted Zuo Xiaojiao’s agent waving her over.
“Xiaojiao’s already inside. When she comes out, accompany her to meet the investors. Ning Wei is still waiting for me, so I’ll head off first.”
The agent, a bespectacled male Omega, dumped everything in his hands onto Wen Tang without a second thought before hurrying away.
Before long, Zuo Xiaojiao emerged in costume, looking visibly upset.
Still caught up in the sting of her failed audition, she didn’t bother with snide remarks this time. After angrily changing out of costume, she led Wen Tang to the underground parking lot.
“Wang-ge told you, right? Straight to Silverlight.” Slumping into the car, she closed her eyes to rest, already planning how to butter up the investors. Otherwise, the second female lead role in Moon Spirit Chronicle would slip away from her.
Wen Tang cast her a cool glance. “I know,” she said flatly before starting the car.
Silverlight was a famous members-only club, renowned for its strict privacy. Inside, the private rooms were dimly lit, heavily soundproofed—as if all filth could be swallowed whole by the darkness.
The moment they entered the suite, Wen Tang spotted two male Alphas lounging on the sofa. They were clearly among the investors of Moon Spirit Chronicle.
“Ming-ge~ Today’s audition didn’t go well at all~” Zuo Xiaojiao loosened her neckline and threw herself at the man on the left. Her saccharine voice made Wen Tang’s skin crawl.
Ming-ge slipped an arm around her slim waist, his other hand already sliding inside her blouse. “What happened? Li Zheng gave you a hard time?”
Her breathing quickened. With teary eyes and bitten lips, she nodded pitifully. “Mm… yes. Director Li said my acting was too forced, that I wasn’t the right fit for her vision of the second female lead. Ming-ge, please help me~”
Standing off to the side, Wen Tang felt beyond awkward. She kept her face carefully blank, gaze averted, though her thoughts churned. Was this woman really planning to please both investors at once?
“That the assistant you mentioned before?” The man leaning lazily in the other chair looked Wen Tang up and down.
By now, Zuo Xiaojiao’s clothes were half off. Tilting her head back, eyes misty, she giggled breathlessly, “Mm… yes. What do you think of her, Yang-ge? Does she suit your taste?”
Wen Tang’s head snapped around. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?!” Did she hear right? This vile woman had dragged her here just to throw her at this man?!
Her gaze flicked to Yang-ge again, confirming he was an Alpha. But she herself was also an Alpha!
Could it be he was into A–A relationships?!
Under Yang-ge’s blatant scrutiny, Wen Tang’s expression darkened.
“Didn’t expect your assistant to be such a beauty.” Yang-ge’s eyes glinted with satisfaction as he took in Wen Tang’s cool, refined features and slightly wavy hair. He raised his brows at her. “What’s your name? Ever thought of joining the entertainment industry?”
Seeing the storm on her face, he chuckled low. “With me backing you, everything would be smooth sailing. What do you say—want to think it over?”
Half-clothed, Zuo Xiaojiao nudged Ming-ge’s arm, flashing Wen Tang a coquettish smile. “For a mere assistant to catch Yang-ge’s eye—talk about luck! You should be thanking him already.” As she spoke, her hand continued to wander down Ming-ge’s body.
Yang-ge, aroused by the live performance, was already rolling up his sleeves. He rose and strode toward Wen Tang. “If you’re shy, we can always get another room.”
Utterly disgusted, Wen Tang clenched her fists and asked the system in her head, If I beat him up, will it throw the plot off too much?
Equally revolted, the system shot back without hesitation: Don’t even ask—just hit him!
