Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 15
The hall was bright with lights, lively and filled with laughter.
By the end of the banquet, most people had shed their initial restraint. Glasses clinked in a cheerful exchange as everyone began drinking more freely.
Slightly tipsy, Xu Zhao’s gaze swept sideways toward Ye Youyi, her cheeks flushed with wine. After a brief struggle with herself, she lifted her glass and walked over.
“Mm?” Ye Youyi was in the middle of chatting with Qiu Qiu when a hand holding a wine cup suddenly extended toward her. Looking up, she was surprised to see it was Xu Zhao.
Xu Zhao stared fixedly at her, a little shy as she said, “These past few days working with me, you’ve put in a lot of effort.”
In her eyes lingered a faint trace of affection—something Ye Youyi naturally noticed. After a discreet glance at the Alpha in front of her, she smiled politely and declined:
“Sorry, I’ve been having headaches these days. I really can’t drink.”
The light in Xu Zhao’s expression dimmed at the refusal. She tightened her grip on the glass, then withdrew her hand. “Alright then I won’t disturb you.”
Watching the Alpha leave unwillingly, Qiu Qiu leaned closer to whisper, “Xu Zhao’s been getting really popular lately, practically on the verge of blowing up. Why did you reject her so bluntly?”
Not long ago, Xu Zhao had risen in popularity through a variety show and gained a solid public image. Now she had landed the female lead role in Director Li Zheng’s new drama. Once it aired, she would likely skyrocket into the top tier.
Based on Ye Youyi’s usual temperament, she would have been expected to neither accept nor reject such overtures—keeping things ambiguous rather than outright turning someone down.
But tonight, she had given Xu Zhao a clear and unmistakable refusal.
Qiu Qiu really couldn’t make sense of it.
Ye Youyi only pressed her lips into a faint smile, answering casually, “The drama hasn’t even finished filming yet. How can you be so sure she’ll be the one to explode? For all we know, it might be Yu Miyue.”
Qiu Qiu pouted, wanting to argue further, when Ye Youyi suddenly rose from her seat. Catching sight of something, she tossed out a quick, “I’m going to the restroom,” before heading toward the private room’s door.
“What’s with her?” Qiu Qiu blinked at her retreating figure, baffled. “Why so flustered?”
Night had fallen.
The midsummer evening was clear and cool, the moon high in the sparse-starlit sky. Under the glow of neon, a tall shadow stretched long across the pavement.
Wen Tang shook her increasingly heavy head and continued toward the hotel.
She had no idea what was happening to her. Not long after dinner, she began to feel lightheaded, her body steadily heating up. Thankfully, the restaurant was close to the hotel—she planned to go back and lie down.
Stumbling into the elevator, she barely managed to step inside before a slender hand blocked the closing doors. A petite girl slipped in after her.
Leaning against the wall, Wen Tang rubbed at her throbbing temples, not noticing that the girl was Lin Shuang.
Ding— The elevator doors opened.
Seeing it was her floor, Wen Tang stepped out.
The corridor was silent, the lights dimmed low.
Fishing out her keycard, she reached for the door—only for a soft, boneless hand to press against the back of her own.
Startled, she staggered back two steps. Forcing her eyes open, she saw Lin Shuang pick up her dropped keycard and unlock the door with a beep.
“You don’t look well. I was worried, so I followed,” Lin Shuang said softly, pushing the door open in invitation.
“You seem feverish. You should rest a bit.” Her gentle tone lulled Wen Tang’s wariness.
Taking the keycard from her palm, Wen Tang said hoarsely, “I’m fine. Just need to lie down. You should go back.”
But as soon as she reached for the card, the Omega seized her hand and pressed closer, biting her lip before leaning in.
A wave of heat rushed over her, carrying the sweet, heady scent of lychee.
Wen Tang’s entire body burned, the dormant glands at her nape throbbing as if awakened, dragging her deeper into the haze.
Clinging to the last scraps of reason, she tried to push the Omega away. But Lin Shuang only wrapped both arms tighter around her waist, releasing an even stronger burst of pheromones that ignited a primal urge to claim her.
When Lin Shuang’s hand slid brazenly up her back, Wen Tang snapped awake. Forgetting her usual restraint toward a fragile Omega, she shoved her hard to the carpet.
Clutching the wall, she panted heavily. “Get out!”
Even half-delirious, she understood Lin Shuang’s intent. The girl was trying to seduce her.
And her sudden illness—could it be Lin Shuang’s doing?
But now, after being assaulted by pheromones for so long, her glands pulsed violently, hunger clawing at her insides. She had to drive Lin Shuang away—otherwise, she feared she’d lose control to her Alpha instincts.
Lin Shuang hadn’t expected an Alpha aroused by Omega pheromones to retain her sanity, let alone push her away.
Embarrassment flickered across her face, but she didn’t leave. Standing, she approached again, voice trembling with grievance: “You need me right now.”
She reached for Wen Tang—only to have her wrist yanked back.
Startled, she turned—and her eyes widened.
“She told you to get out. Didn’t you hear?”
Gone was Ye Youyi’s usual soft facade. Her face was dark, her tone cutting as she shoved Lin Shuang aside. “Get lost!”
Lin Shuang stumbled back several steps. Staring in shock at Ye Youyi, who was already supporting Wen Tang into the room, tears finally spilled down her cheeks.
Guiding the restless Alpha inside, Ye Youyi caught one of Wen Tang’s wandering hands with a warning: “Move again, and I’ll stop helping you.”
The moment Wen Tang saw Ye Youyi, every muscle in her body loosened. As her taut self-control unraveled, desire surged to consume her.
Now she heard nothing Ye Youyi said. Her Alpha instincts only knew to clutch the soft Omega to her chest, lowering her head like a great hound nosing eagerly at the curve of her neck.
Furious, Ye Youyi dragged her toward the bed and threw her down hard.
Looking at the Alpha frowning in pain on the mattress, she gave a cold laugh. “Hurts now, doesn’t it? Why didn’t you guard against Lin Shuang earlier?”
She had noticed Lin Shuang sneaking out right after Wen Tang left, and unease had driven her to follow.
Omega intuition told her Lin Shuang was up to no good.
Sure enough, the elevator doors opened to a scene of the two pressed together. Rage had nearly driven her to walk away—until she heard Wen Tang’s hoarse but firm voice ordering Lin Shuang to leave.
Only then did she realize Wen Tang had been drugged or otherwise set up.
Thankfully, she still had enough clarity to shove Lin Shuang away.
But now clarity was gone.
Watching the Alpha curl in on herself, trembling with muffled groans, Ye Youyi grew anxious. She knelt on the bed and nudged her. “Hey, what’s wrong with you? Did Lin Shuang really do something? Maybe I should take you to a hospital.”
Before she could finish, her wrist was seized. With a sudden pull, she toppled onto the mattress.
“What are you doing?” she yelped—only for the Alpha to roll over, pinning her beneath.
The crisp scent of snow pear filled the air. Ye Youyi clapped a hand over her nose, but Wen Tang’s pheromones still invaded, curling around her senses.
Blushing furiously, she braced both hands against Wen Tang’s chest, trying to push her away. But the soft warmth beneath her palms only made her flush harder.
As the Alpha leaned dazedly closer, she whispered, half-pleading, half-panicked, “Wen Tang don’t.”
Her familiar, sultry voice tugged Wen Tang’s mind back from the brink.
Dizzily, she focused on the Omega beneath her—their gazes meeting, her reflection swimming in those misty eyes. The sight of delicate skin tinged pink, lips parted just so, sent her desire surging once more.
Bracing herself on either side, she cupped Ye Youyi’s flushed face and lowered her head.
Ye Youyi wasn’t sure if the Alpha’s gentleness disarmed her, or if her senses were already muddled by pheromones. Eyes wide open, she watched as Wen Tang inched closer.
In the warm glow of the bedside lamp, the Alpha’s hot lips brushed softly against the corner of her mouth.
In that instant, fireworks bloomed in Ye Youyi’s mind. The world fell silent. It was as if only she and Wen Tang remained in existence.
