Reborn a Scummy Alpha, Happily Ever After with the Movie Queen - Chapter 10
Who could possibly hold a grudge against her? Ye Youyi couldn’t think of anyone.
She had always been cautious in the entertainment industry, never daring to offend anyone lightly. Even the Alphas she had once flirted with had all been unattached. After thinking it through, she still couldn’t figure out who would go out of their way to target her.
Wen Tang glanced at her bewildered expression. With a temperament as gentle as hers, there was no way she would take the initiative to provoke others.
That could only mean—someone simply disliked her.
Sure enough, Ye Youyi’s next words confirmed her suspicion:
“I haven’t had any conflicts with anyone. I rarely even interact with others in the circle.”
Wen Tang pressed her lips together, recalling Bai Yuqing, the actress previously set to play the third female lead in Moon Spirit Chronicle.
Could it be her?
But why would Bai Yuqing go after Ye Youyi specifically? Surely Ye Youyi wasn’t the only candidate vying for the role today.
“Don’t worry about whether it’s Bai Yuqing or not. What matters now is getting Ye Youyi upstairs. If she misses her slot, the third female lead will really be gone!”
The system’s voice suddenly rang in her mind.
Wen Tang checked the time—it was already close to ten.
The system clicked its tongue knowingly:
“What are you panicking for? If you want to get Ye Youyi upstairs, that’s easy.”
Wen Tang arched a brow. “You have a way?”
The system chuckled.
“Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten this whole building belongs to the Wen family? Just send Wen Qi a message and let her know. That receptionist wouldn’t dare block you after that.”
So simple?!
Wen Tang was momentarily stunned. So this was what it felt like to have power and influence backing you up.
“What are you standing around for? Time is ticking!”
The system sounded thoroughly exasperated with her hesitation.
Coming back to herself, Wen Tang pulled out her phone. She told Ye Youyi, “I need to make a call,” and stepped aside into a quiet corner.
Watching her tall figure disappear behind the greenery, Ye Youyi froze for a moment. Then she withdrew her gaze and made her way back toward the elevator.
She kept her head lowered as much as possible, but it still drew the receptionist’s attention.
Stopped once again, Ye Youyi’s eyes welled up—part genuine, part performance. She clutched the receptionist’s arm, her voice soft and trembling as she played the pitiful card:
“Please, let me go up. I really need this chance.”
Her tone was fragile, her demeanor utterly pitiful.
But this time, her opponent was a Beta woman—someone who couldn’t perceive pheromones. The usual tactics she employed to sway Alphas were useless here.
Seeing the other woman unmoved, Ye Youyi nearly broke character in frustration. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the elevator doors opening again. Gritting her teeth, she shook off the receptionist’s grip and rushed toward it.
She couldn’t afford to lose this opportunity. Not again. Never again.
But Betas, while ordinary, were still far stronger than Omegas. Ye Youyi had barely taken two steps when the receptionist yanked her back by the wrist, holding her firmly in place.
She could only watch helplessly as the elevator doors closed before her—sealing shut the path to her chance, as if cutting her future off completely.
“Let her go!”
Wen Tang had just ended her call when she realized Ye Youyi was missing. She hurried toward the elevator area and found her immediately.
Seeing Ye Youyi’s slender arm pinned in the receptionist’s grasp sent a wave of anger surging through her.
She strode forward, seized Ye Youyi’s hand, and pulled her behind her protectively.
“Tell whoever put you up to this,” Wen Tang snapped coldly, “that playing petty tricks like a sewer rat to disgust people is beneath contempt.”
With that, she took Ye Youyi by the hand and led her straight toward the private elevator.
The receptionist’s heart clenched at the sight of their chosen direction. She instinctively reached for security, but her phone rang in her pocket.
She waved for the guards while answering curtly: “Who is this?”
Moments later, her expression shifted dramatically. Where she had just been arrogant and ready to sic security on them, she now scrambled to call the guards back.
Face pale as ash, she tucked her phone away and dismissed the security captain in a panic.
Inside the empty elevator, Ye Youyi still hadn’t recovered.
She stared blankly at the figure standing before her, unable to make sense of how this person had managed to drag her inside at the last second—let alone why the receptionist had frozen in her tracks, as if compelled to back down.
Too strange!
Wasn’t the receptionist just now blocking her from going up to audition? How did it end with her simply watching as Wen Tang pulled her straight into the elevator?
Sensing the girl’s slight resistance, Wen Tang quickly released her hand and turned with a gentle smile. “Don’t worry, we’re already up here. Just focus on your audition—leave the rest to me.”
Ye Youyi’s heart gave a jolt. She quietly studied her again.
Whoever was working against her from the shadows definitely wasn’t someone a small-time actress like herself could handle. Yet Wen Tang was saying she could?
Could it be that Wen Tang was actually someone important?
But if that was true, how had she never heard of her before?
Noticing her hesitant expression, Wen Tang guessed what she might be thinking. After a brief pause, she explained, “My former boss was Zuo Xiaojiao, and her agent was Wang Lin. I know Brother Lin personally—I just asked him for a favor.”
At the mention of Wang Lin, Ye Youyi immediately understood.
Though Wang Lin was just an agent, he had another identity—he was also the boyfriend and agent of Ning Wei, the Ning family’s third young master.
With that connection, his influence in the industry was undeniable.
She hadn’t expected Wen Tang to have ties to someone like him. Clearly, she had underestimated her before.
Wen Tang, unaware of what the girl was thinking, only saw her hanging her head as if weighed down by what had just happened, her whole being radiating a fragile, helpless air.
A pang of tenderness stirred in Wen Tang’s chest. She reached out to ruffle the girl’s hair and soothed softly, “That’s just how this industry is. Even if you never provoke anyone, someone might still dislike you. All you can do is be true to yourself. Don’t let others’ petty schemes hurt you, okay?”
Ye Youyi instinctively wanted to shy away from the hand tousling her hair. But the Alpha’s voice was so gentle, like a spring breeze brushing past her heart, carrying away her gloom.
After a moment’s daze, she composed her expression and nodded obediently at Wen Tang.

The second round of auditions for Moon Spirit Chronicle was something Director Li Zheng took very seriously. The leads had already been cast; today’s main event was choosing the actress for the third female role.
All morning, several actresses had auditioned, but none left Li Zheng satisfied.
The role of Xian Ruo was that of an ethereal goddess untouched by mortal dust. Always by the heroine’s side as a “friend,” she hid her unspoken love deep within her heart.
No matter what the heroine did, Xian Ruo stood unwaveringly by her, supporting and helping her. Even when the heroine begged her to save the second female lead—her beloved—Xian Ruo could not refuse. She bled her own heart to save the woman, and in the end sacrificed her very soul to keep the heroine alive.
The character wasn’t complex, but the challenge lay in embodying her pure, selfless nature and her steadfast, silent love.
The problem was, most actresses in the industry had long since lost such innocence. No matter how they tried to act, their eyes could never fully capture that unworldly purity.
From her chair, Li Zheng watched yet another overly deliberate performance and shook her head, cutting the actress off. “That’s enough. Next.”
Pinching the bridge of her nose, she thought back to when she had considered Ye Youyi—the girl who once played the heroine’s youth in Fragile—as a strong candidate for Xian Ruo. But later, Bai Yuqing had set her sights on the role.
Li Zheng had resigned herself to the idea that the role might be ruined. But fate shifted: the Bai family was now in chaos and had pulled their investment. Already dissatisfied with Bai Yuqing, Li Zheng immediately scrapped her and reopened casting.
And yet, Ye Youyi was still nowhere to be seen.
Could it be she had accepted another role elsewhere?
“Good day, Director, Producer, teachers. I’m actress Ye Youyi, here to audition for the role of Xian Ruo in Moon Spirit Chronicle.”
The soft, delicate voice on stage snapped Li Zheng back to attention. She looked up immediately.
It was her—Ye Youyi!
The most perfect candidate for Xian Ruo in her mind!
On stage, the girl had changed into a pale blue gown. Her figure was light and graceful, her skin smooth and luminous. Soft pink lips pressed together, brows like willows carried a touch of tender melancholy, and even the way her skirt fluttered in the breeze seemed ethereal.
Excellent. This was exactly how she had imagined Xian Ruo to look.
But image alone wasn’t enough—she needed to see if Ye Youyi’s acting had matured over the years.
If she could embody Xian Ruo’s purity, kindness, and unwavering devotion, then the casting would be flawless.
Putting down the script, Li Zheng said, “Let’s see you perform the scene where Xian Ruo faces Liu Yue’s plea to save Huan Yan. Can you do that?”
Ye Youyi had already studied this scene in the script and even practiced interpretations with Qiu Qiu. Hearing the director choose it boosted her confidence.

Before the towering temple, Xian Ruo looked down at the disheveled Liu Yue kneeling before her and quickly moved to help her up.
But as soon as her fingers touched the burning wrist, Liu Yue pulled away. A flicker of loss clouded Xian Ruo’s gaze. She withdrew her hand, hiding it within her wide sleeves—as if tucking away her forbidden feelings along with it.
“Only you can save her. I know it’s asking too much, but I have no other way. She’s on the brink of soul-destruction.” Liu Yue’s voice was hollow, yet her eyes still held a desperate glimmer of hope.
Xian Ruo stared at the woman she loved, seeing the pride and brilliance of the past stripped away, replaced only by pleading. And in that moment, she knew—she could never refuse her.
