Pregnant With the Villain Boss’ Baby - Chapter 18
Startled by the sudden, violent bang of the door, Yun Lan froze mid-search in the snack cabinet. She turned to see Yun Mu leaning against the door, her face pale and her breath coming in ragged gasps. It was the first time the little girl had ever seen such a look of genuine panic on her mother’s face.
“Ha… haah…” Yun Mu panted, cold sweat beading on her forehead. Her chest heaved with her heavy breathing—a sight that would have driven her fans wild—but she couldn’t care less about her image right now.
Memories she had suppressed for years came flooding back. Right. I transmigrated. This is a novel world. I’ve been living too comfortably these last few years!
The chaotic thoughts in her mind gradually coalesced into the face of the person outside.
Why is she here?! The tiny version of Yun Mu in her head was clutching its hair and screaming.
Her mind drifted back to the moment she first arrived in this world. The person lying beside her then was a perfect match for the face outside. How could she be so sure? One look at Yun Lan’s face made any denial of a blood relation feel like a stretch.
Thinking of the woman’s identity gave Yun Mu an even bigger headache. She was the story’s ultimate Boss!
Once honored as the Empire’s youngest Admiral, she was eventually branded a traitor, hunted by the state, and met a tragic end on the execution block. The main reason Yun Mu remembered her so clearly wasn’t just because it was the last novel she read before she died, but because this Big Boss was truly pitiful.
She was used and manipulated, eventually blacked out, and died a miserable death. The whole book painted her as the root of all evil, someone trying to destroy the Empire, while the protagonists were the “heroes” who stopped her.
From the breadcrumbs in the text, Yun Mu never felt the Boss was truly in the wrong; it seemed her actions were twisted just to highlight the protagonists’ “justice.” But sympathy was one thing—being the Boss’s wife was another entirely. This character’s ending was horrific.
Getting dragged into the conflict was bad enough, but the Boss and this wife were “as polite as ice.” They barely saw each other once every few months, yet she was used as a tool to threaten the Boss. Kidnappings, being held hostage… Yun Mu suspected the author had a personal vendetta against the couple, using every trope in the book to show how “cold-blooded” the Boss was for not rescuing her wife, while every time she did try to save her, it was framed as a “rebel uprising” rather than a rescue.
Anyway, without Yun Mu’s current physical training, the original body was just a fragile Omega. After all that torment, she simply fell ill and died, only to be posthumously branded as a traitor’s wife and despised by the world.
Initially, Yun Mu hadn’t even realized the person she’d slept with was the Big Boss. It was only while researching her new identity that she saw a headline of the Boss attending a banquet and realized she had transmigrated into a book!
As for what she did after that… Yun Mu pressed a hand to her forehead, feeling a sharp throb in her temples.
She didn’t think for a second that she was someone the Boss would “never forget.” The only reason she had the guts to move so close to the Capital Star was because the book said the Boss was indifferent to her wife. She figured after all this time, the woman would have forgotten her. She never expected… No matter how I look at it, it must be because of that “incident” back then!
“Mommy? Mommy, what are you thinking about? Mommy?”
The persistent calling snapped Yun Mu back to reality. She looked down to see Yun Lan cupping her face with tiny hands, her expression full of worry.
“Ah… Mommy’s fine. I just remembered something.” Yun Mu rubbed the girl’s head and took a deep breath. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Whatever the case, she would cross that bridge when she got to it. With her current fame, she wouldn’t be taken down easily. Besides, what happened that year wasn’t her fault.
Gaining a bit of confidence, her breathing leveled out. She put on a smile, pushing the person outside to the back of her mind. “Come on, let’s go watch a movie.”
“Okay!” Yun Lan could tell something was off, but seeing her mother back to normal, she simply nodded and climbed onto the sofa. Deep down, questions were swarming.
Who was that outside? I thought I heard ‘neighbor’? Is this new neighbor the reason Mommy is so shaken? Should I go investigate?
“Weren’t we watching a movie? What do you want to see?” Yun Mu asked softly, swiping through the menu.
“Oh! Uh, let me pick.” Yun Lan started at the voice. She coughed and peeked at Yun Mu. Realizing her mother hadn’t noticed her spacing out, she let out a sigh of relief and leaned in to look at the screen.
While the two were cozy inside, outside was a different story…
Lu Fengxu’s expression was a bit stiff. She rubbed her face, thinking about the look of shock on the Omega’s face. She felt a wave of dejection.
She had tried so hard to relax her stiff facial muscles into a smile so the Omega would find her approachable. But before she could even show the results, the door had slammed shut.
Lu Fengxu: My heart is broken. QAQ
“Excuse me… can I help you?” Yang Chen arrived at the villa and saw a stranger—an Alpha who looked strangely familiar—standing at the door.
Hearing the voice, Lu Fengxu immediately looked up and stopped rubbing her face. She gave a dry cough, tucked her hands behind her back, and studied the newcomer.
Good looks, S-rank… decent. But that gentle aura was exactly the type most Omegas liked. Lu Fengxu knew who this was: Yang Chen, the Alpha who was very close to Yun Mu.
No Alpha likes seeing their Omega around other Alphas. The higher the rank, the more intense the possessiveness. But she looks familiar… have I seen her somewhere?
“Uh… are you the new neighbor?” Seeing the other person just staring at her, Yang Chen asked cautiously. She felt a dangerous aura coming from this woman. This person was a threat!
“Yes. I moved in recently. I came to say hello,” Lu Fengxu said flatly.
“Ah, I see. Nice to meet you. I hope you like the neighborhood.” Yang Chen nodded, gave a polite wave, and entered the house, shutting the door with a firm thud.
Lu Fengxu, who expected to be invited in: “…”
As a Major General, she had just been locked out twice in five minutes. This had to be a curse.
“Huh? Sis, why are you standing out here? I thought your house was this one?” Lu Huan’an walked up the path carrying a box and looked at his sister in confusion.
He tapped his head. Did she go to the wrong house? Is her memory failing? How scary. She’s still so young… wait, what was that condition from the ancient books? Ah, right—senior moments!
“Huan’an… what exactly are you thinking?” Sensing his brother’s insulting gaze, Lu Fengxu’s face darkened. Every day she didn’t hit him, her hands felt itchy.
“Cough! Nothing, nothing! So, what are you doing?” Sensing the killing intent, Huan’an hopped back with a nervous laugh.
Lu Fengxu didn’t answer. She simply stepped over the low fence separating the two villas. As she passed him, Huan’an heard her mutter:
“Coming to greet the neighbors.”
Greeting neighbors? Since when does my sister do that?
The thought flashed through his mind, and he instinctively looked at the sky. The weather is fine. No signs of an apocalypse. The image of Lu Fengxu holding a gift box and being social was so alien it made him shiver. Did she hit her head?
“Hey! Sis! Wait for me! What’s going on? What are the neighbors like? Tell me!”
Seeing her walk away without looking back, Huan’an shouldered his box and chased after her.
“Huan’an, you’re being a public nuisance,” Lu Fengxu snapped.
“Just tell me! There must be something interesting over there. You never do anything without a reason. Oh! Is it a cute Omega? Should I go take a look—”
“Huan. An.” Lu Fengxu stopped and turned to look at him. “I think you have too much free time lately. If you’re that restless, meet me in the training room in ten minutes.”
“Eek!” Huan’an stiffened as his sister turned and walked into their new home. “Wait… wait! I’m not restless! I—”
The door slammed in his face.
“Aaargh! My back!” Huan’an leaned against a pillar, clutching his waist. In his rush to keep the box from being hit by the door, he had leaned back too hard and felt a distinct pop in his spine. “That’s just mean.”
Suddenly, the door swung open again. Huan’an slapped a hand over his mouth, terrified she’d heard him. Lu Fengxu’s gaze swept over him, landing on the hand on his waist.
“If you’re that ‘weak,’ I’ll be sure to tell Rose for you.”
With that, she reached down, picked up the box he’d dropped, and slammed the door again.
Whew… The frustration of being locked out earlier vanished. Lu Fengxu looked at her hand. She hadn’t realized how satisfying it was to slam a door on someone.
Dumbstruck, Lu Huan’an finally processed what she’d said and started pounding on the door. “Hey! Sis! Don’t you dare! I am not ‘weak’! Don’t say weird things to Rose! Sis!”
