Pregnant With the Villain Boss’ Baby - Chapter 17
“Cut! Perfect, that’s a wrap on this scene!”
“Ah… finally finished. I’m exhausted.”
“Exhausted or not, Film Emperor Feng and Film Queen Yun look so incredibly well-matched when they stand together.”
“Right? Just looking at them makes all my fatigue vanish.”
After several days of filming, the project was progressing smoothly. The actors were in peak form, and thanks to a rigorous selection process, everyone had a solid foundation in acting.
The crew was even relaxed enough to enjoy the performances and gossip about “CP” pairings in their private time. Naturally, Feng Cen and Yun Mu were the favorite couple to discuss.
Of course, there was one person who was extremely displeased. Youying watched the staff members who were staring obsessionally at the lead pair and let out a cold snort before striding forward.
“Yun Mu, we’ve finally finished for the day. Are you sure you won’t join me for a drink? The wine in the Cloud World doesn’t cause hangovers,” Feng Cen said. He hadn’t given up on the idea of asking her out, trying a different venue almost every day.
According to Feng Cen’s logic—or rather, the “how-to” books he’d been reading—if a woman is willing to go out with you, it means she trusts you and harbors some goodwill!
If Yun Mu knew what he was thinking, she would have flashed a brilliant smile while finding a way to burn those trashy books to ashes.
“I really can’t. I have so much to do. My niece was left in my care by her parents, and I have to look after her so she doesn’t cry,” Yun Mu sighed, patting Feng Cen on the shoulder.
Feng Cen’s face stiffened, a look of pure bewilderment crossing his features. Two days ago it was a grandfather, yesterday it was a sister, and today it was a niece? Just how many relatives are you babysitting?! He wanted to flip a table.
“Then… let’s talk about it later…” Feng Cen gave a bitter laugh. He wondered if the excuses would get even more outrageous. Strangely, he felt a small spark of anticipation—at this rate, he could write a book about them.
Yun Mu shivered. Tsk, I feel like someone is plotting against me again.
“Yun Mu.” Youying approached at that moment.
“Ah, Youying! Just the person I was looking for.” Yun Mu’s eyes lit up. Youying’s timing was always impeccable. She turned back to Feng Cen. “Well, Feng Cen, that’s it for now. I’m heading out!”
“Oh… right…” Feng Cen watched her back, then shifted his gaze to Youying, his eyes narrowing.
He had used his family’s influence to investigate this person, yet he couldn’t find a single shred of her background. The only thing on record was the incident at the mecha competition. The consensus on Youying was simple: high strength, at least S-rank, and a very mysterious Alpha.
Analytical reports suggested her combat skills rivaled high-ranking military officers—or might even surpass them. This kept Feng Cen on high alert. He ordered his men to keep digging; he had to know what her intentions were toward Yun Mu.
As if sensing his gaze, Youying turned her head slightly. Her eyes, cold and indifferent as if looking at an inanimate object, met Feng Cen’s.
Shiver. Feng Cen couldn’t help but shudder and look away. His internal alarm hit the red zone. This Youying… is far too dangerous!
“Uh… Youying? Can you let go of my hand now?” Yun Mu asked in a low voice as she watched the woman lead her along. She could already hear the whispering starting around them. Does this woman not understand social cues?
Youying turned and stared at Yun Mu for a moment, squeezing the soft hand in her palm one last time before slowly letting go.
“Let’s go, let’s go.” Yun Mu rubbed her temples, glancing at the silent, constant presence beside her. She wondered how much longer this woman intended to stick to her.
Once they were in the van, Yun Mu leaned back and closed her eyes to rest, ignoring the burning gaze from the seat next to her. Luo Ling and Tong Wenwen were already used to it. Ever since Youying appeared, her focus had been 100% on Yun Mu.
If they hadn’t only known each other for a few days, and if Yun Mu’s attitude weren’t so consistently detached, Luo Ling would have thought they were an old couple in the middle of a cold war.
Cradling a drowsy Tong Wenwen, Luo Ling watched them, wondering when she had become such a gossip. She had always thought Yun Mu was the type to never settle down; despite her flirtatious smiles, Yun Mu’s internal walls were high. But Youying… she was the first person who simply refused to be driven away. Things were getting interesting.
Yun Mu opened one eye and glanced at Luo Ling. Why do I feel a wave of sheer malice coming from her?
Before she could investigate, the person beside her moved, subtly blocking her line of sight. Yun Mu shifted slightly, and Youying moved with her.
Yun Mu: …Where did this brat come from?! -皿-
She shut her eyes again. Out of sight, out of mind. She couldn’t fight her, couldn’t yell her away, and the woman’s possessiveness was terrifying. Yun Mu decided she must be a saint for not having exploded yet.
When the van reached the teleportation zone, Yun Mu activated her virtual bracelet and jumped straight into the array. She dissolved into blue light and vanished.
The car didn’t move immediately. Youying stared at the empty seat, then at the spot where the blue light had disappeared. Her eyes darkened.
“Huh? Is Sister Yun gone?” Tong Wenwen woke up, blinking sleepily.
“Yeah, she just left,” Luo Ling said, stroking Wenwen’s back. She stopped mid-sentence as she saw Youying disappear into the same teleportation array.
Teleportation arrays were specific to their zones. If someone used the wrong one, the system usually detected the error and spat them back out. But Youying had gone in… and hadn’t come back.
Luo Ling’s eyes widened. I think I just realized something…
Hiss— The glass pod slowly rose. Yun Mu opened her eyes only to see a face hovering inches from hers.
Yun Mu: ……
The owner of the face: ……
“Baozi, what exactly are you doing?” Yun Mu asked through gritted teeth, her hands reaching up to squish the girl’s cheeks with a bright, dangerous smile.
“Waaa… waaa… Mommy, mercy! Help!” Yun Lan cried out.
“Fine. What’s the matter?” Yun Mu stood up, releasing the girl’s now-red cheeks.
“Sister Yang went out to buy groceries. I was bored, so I came to wait for you,” Yun Lan pouted.
“Why aren’t you practicing your combat? Is your homework done?” Yun Mu took her hand and led her out of the room.
“It’s been done forever. And I’ve already trained for two hours. There’s nothing good on TV. I’m so bored,” Yun Lan muttered.
Yun Mu paused. She checked the time and realized she’d logged off an hour later than usual without noticing. She rubbed the girl’s head and smiled. “Alright, our little ‘Baozi’ has been neglected. Since it’s a special occasion, I’ll make a feast for you today.”
Yun Lan’s face went white. She grabbed Yun Mu’s arm and gave a forced laugh. “Mommy, I suddenly realized that watching TV is the greatest joy in life! Let’s go watch TV together!”
“Hmm…?” Yun Mu narrowed her eyes.
Sweat beaded on Yun Lan’s forehead. She loved her mother, but her mother’s cooking was… a biohazard. In her memory, nine out of ten times Yun Mu entered the kitchen, an “accident” happened. A small fire was a lucky day; a total explosion was more common.
The rare “finished products” were always charred black. Yun Lan never understood how every ingredient, regardless of color or sauce, turned into charcoal in her mother’s hands. And the taste? A chaotic mix of salt, sugar, sour, spice, and bitter. One bite was enough to meet one’s ancestors.
Yun Lan and Yang Chen had once spent five days in bed after eating her food. For an Alpha with high recovery rates to be sidelined like that… the food was essentially poison.
“Really, Mommy! There’s a movie I’ve been dying to see! And Sister Yang already bought the groceries, so she must have a plan for dinner. We shouldn’t ruin her plan! Let’s watch the movie!” Yun Lan used all her strength to drag Yun Mu toward the living room.
“Baozi, you aren’t looking down on my cooking, are you?” Yun Mu didn’t resist much, but she sounded a bit miffed. In her mind, the past disasters were just accidents! Surely she had improved!
“Hahaha, of course not! It’s just… Sister Yang has a menu planned! We shouldn’t mess it up, right?”
“Hmph. Better be.” Yun Mu tweaked her nose playfully.
“I’m nod ly-ing (I’m not lying),” Yun Lan muffled.
Ding-dong! The doorbell rang, stopping them both.
“Huh? Who is it?” Yun Lan tilted her head.
“Go sit on the sofa. I’ll get it.” Yun Mu headed for the door.
“Who’s there?” she asked lazily, opening the door. Since Yang Chen wasn’t home, she had to do it herself. No matter how good the security was, she wasn’t letting Yun Lan open the door to a stranger.
The smile on her face froze.
“Hello, I’m your new neighbor. I just moved in—”
The person outside looked at Yun Mu, a light flashing in their eyes. They started to extend a hand, but before the sentence could finish—
SLAM!
The door flew shut. If the person hadn’t reacted quickly, their hand would have been crushed.
