Pregnant With the Villain Boss’ Baby - Chapter 16
When Yun Mu finished her shoot and returned to the break area, she was greeted by a visible aura of gloom radiating from Youying. She simply arched an eyebrow, choosing not to comment, and sat back down in her usual spot with practiced ease.
Youying watched Yun Mu’s profile, a flash of frustration crossing her eyes. She felt a bit stifled—it seemed her obvious bad mood was being completely ignored.
The realization left her feeling a little dejected, but she quickly consoled herself. After all, they hadn’t known each other long, and she was the one who had stubbornly insisted on tagging along. It was only natural to be a bit overlooked at first.
Once she reached that conclusion, Youying felt significantly better.
“Wenwen, go grab me…” Yun Mu had barely sat down before her inner foodie started calling. With a massive box of premium sweets sitting right there, she’d have to be crazy not to dig in. But just as she was about to ask Tong Wenwen to fetch them, a heavy thud sounded beside her.
She turned to find a literal mountain of pastries piled on the table by Youying. Each one was exquisite, and there had to be nearly a hundred of them. There were even several bags sitting by Youying’s feet because the table couldn’t hold another crumb.
Yun Mu looked at the hoard of sweets, then at Youying. The woman’s exposed eyes were shimmering with a light that gave off the distinct, slightly pathetic vibe of a puppy begging for a treat. Yun Mu felt a cold sweat break out. What is happening right now?
“Holy crap… Xiangta, Sweet Lovers, Honey House…” Tong Wenwen’s jaw dropped as she scanned the labels, listing off the most famous dessert shops in the Cloud World.
“Youying, what did you buy all this for?” Yun Mu asked after a long silence. Looking at the sheer quantity, she wondered if the woman had simply walked into every shop and said, “I’ll take one of everything.”
“For you to eat,” Youying said in a muffled voice, her tone laced with a hint of nervousness.
“…I appreciate the sentiment, but this amount…”
“Eat,” Youying interrupted. “If you can’t finish them, I will.” To prove her point, she patted her chest as if to say she was more than up to the task.
Is that the point? It was true that Alphas had massive appetites, but Yun Mu had heard they usually craved meat, not sugar. Was she really going to force herself through all of this?
Deciding to test the waters, Yun Mu placed a strawberry cream cake in front of Youying. “You eat first.”
“You aren’t eating?” Youying blinked, her voice small.
“Does it make you unhappy if I let you eat first?” Yun Mu countered, arching an eyebrow.
“…Oh.” Youying opened the box, revealing a picture-perfect strawberry shortcake.
The snow-white cream was piped into elegant blossoms, encasing a pale gold sponge cake topped with a massive, ruby-red strawberry. Any Omega or dessert lover would have been salivating, but a flash of conflict crossed Youying’s eyes.
She picked up the tiny included fork and took a bite. First came the rich dairy, followed immediately by an overwhelming wave of cloying sweetness. Youying froze, her brow furrowing deeply beneath her mask.
But since Yun Mu had given it to her, she prepared to take another bite—only for the cake to vanish. She looked up to see the slice already back in Yun Mu’s hand.
“If you don’t like it, don’t force yourself. I can’t finish this much anyway, and wasting it is a sin. Besides, cake is only good when it’s fresh,” Yun Mu said helplessly.
In the Cloud World, food didn’t technically spoil, but top-tier shops maintained their reputation by selling only what was made that day to ensure customer satisfaction. Even if Yun Mu was a foodie, she couldn’t possibly finish this mountain in one day. Not being able to feel full didn’t mean she wouldn’t get sick of the sight of it.
Tapping the table, Yun Mu picked out a few favorites and then waved Tong Wenwen over.
“Wenwen, take the rest of these and distribute them to the crew. Let’s get through them quickly.”
“On it!”
The rest of the crew had been sneakily watching the situation for a while. They had seen Youying haul in bag after bag and wondered what was going on. A mountain of desserts? And given Yun Mu’s surprised reaction, it was clear she hadn’t ordered them.
No one could make heads or tails of the situation. They had never seen this person before, yet she was constantly by Yun Mu’s side. Could it be…?
Several gazes drifted toward Feng Cen’s rest area.
Feng Cen watched the exchange from afar. His attention had been locked on Youying from the start, and alarm bells were screaming in his head. His intuition was being confirmed: Youying was definitely here for Yun Mu!
The thought left him deeply unsettled. No one likes knowing someone is eyeing their crush. If it were anyone else, Feng Cen might not have cared, but Yun Mu was actually letting this Alpha stay by her side—a level of proximity he hadn’t yet achieved.
“Tell the team to move faster. I want a detailed file on this person in an hour,” Feng Cen told his manager.
“Understood, Young Master.” His manager, a middle-aged man, gave a respectful nod and began contacting their specialists. Even with the Cloud World’s high security, certain families had “special means” to dig up data.
Neither of them realized their movements were being tracked by Youying. She didn’t react to their plotting, though a flicker of disdain crossed her eyes.
Her attention quickly returned to Yun Mu. Watching her hand out the pastries, surrounded by people thanking her like a star being worshipped by her fans, Youying felt a spark of pleasure.
However, seeing so many Alphas approaching made her grit her teeth. Her sharp gaze swept over several Alphas who looked a bit too much like “pretty boys” for her liking.
(The Alphas: We are NOT pretty boys!)
Youying’s gaze was so piercing that many people began to whisper about her identity.
“Whew…” Yun Mu sighed as the crowd finally dispersed. The chaos had finally settled down. These people were too enthusiastic—she’d never seen them act this way when Feng Cen treated them to snacks.
For some reason, the crowd had retreated as quickly as a receding tide, with the Alphas especially making a hasty exit. Youying, the culprit behind the sudden quiet, picked up a pastry and said calmly, “Didn’t you want to eat?”
“…Yeah.” Yun Mu didn’t dwell on the weird atmosphere. She took a small fork and naturally started eating the leftover strawberry cream cake.
The milky aroma and sweetness made Yun Mu squint her eyes in satisfaction. She had to admit, the desserts in the Cloud World were just as good as the real thing—a true delight for a foodie. Even though she preferred real food, she liked to “test taste” things here first before buying them in reality to avoid wasting money on things she didn’t like.
As she ate, she wondered if she should buy a few strawberry cakes on the way home for Yang Chen and Yun Lan. She wasn’t sure about Yang Chen, but as a kid, Yun Lan was a total sugar addict. She’d definitely love them.
Lost in thought, Yun Mu didn’t notice Youying’s eyes light up. A burning gaze fixed on the fork in Yun Mu’s hand and the cake on the table.
Standing nearby, Luo Ling opened her mouth to warn Yun Mu, but Youying’s sharp, threatening glare immediately snapped toward her.
Fine, fine, Luo Ling thought. Let them deal with it themselves. She was actually a bit relieved that someone was finally trying to handle this “fox.” With a shrug of her responsibility, Luo Ling turned back to her work.
Youying (Excited): She’s eating the cake I just took a bite of… she must like me!
Yun Mu: I don’t, I haven’t, stop talking nonsense. Is it so wrong to think that wasting food is shameful?
