Pregnant With the Villain Boss’ Baby - Chapter 12
“Whew…”
Yun Mu sat lazily on the sofa, half-watching a boring show on the TV. She rubbed her temples and let out a long sigh.
“Yun Mu, did something happen?” Yang Chen placed a plate of sliced fruit on the table, her voice laced with concern.
When Yun Mu had come out of her room that morning, her complexion wasn’t great, and she kept rubbing her head. Yun Mu hadn’t even left the house yesterday, had she? Could she have been driven to exhaustion by Yun Lan?
(Yun Lan: Hey! I’m a good girl, okay!)
“It’s nothing. Just work stuff,” Yun Mu sighed helplessly. She could hardly tell Yang Chen she’d spent the previous day in a high-stakes “Battle Royale.”
Yang Chen hesitated, wanting to ask more, but Yun Mu’s face quickly regained its usual sultry charm. She smiled brightly and chirped, “Sister Yang, I’m craving a steak today.”
“O-oh… sure… okay…” Caught off guard by that captivating smile, Yang Chen actually stammered. She turned away, annoyed with herself, and gave her own cheeks a light slap.
It’s been five years and I’m still not used to it. Even though she already had someone in her heart… No, don’t think about it…
Watching Yang Chen’s retreating back, Yun Mu narrowed her eyes. She was sharp enough to notice Yang Chen’s emotional fluctuations—why did she seem even more depressed than her?
Since Yun Lan’s birthday, Yang Chen had been prone to spacing out, looking like her soul had left her body. It seemed the person she claimed to have “misidentified” back then was someone very special indeed.
However, Yun Mu wasn’t one to dig into others’ secrets. They had an unspoken agreement over the last five years not to pry into the past; they lived more like family than anything else. If Yang Chen needed help, she’d ask.
The real priority… was the Cloud World. Specifically, the person “camping” there.
The words from when she logged out yesterday were still etched into her mind: “I will wait for you.”
Who on earth was that? Someone that powerful wanting to be her bodyguard for free—surely there was some kind of conspiracy.

Meanwhile, in a high-level military meeting far away, a certain someone let out a sudden sneeze. Everyone in the room stiffened, as if enduring the eerie calm before a storm. Sure enough, an intense “cold front” of an aura immediately radiated from the head of the table.
Yun Mu had no idea she was the cause of someone else’s misery, nor would she have cared. After half a day of rest, the throbbing in her head had finally vanished. Seeing Yun Lan’s boundless energy this morning made it clear the child hadn’t been affected by yesterday’s chaos at all.
Is this the gap between an Alpha and an Omega? Physical constitution played a major role in mental recovery, and as an SS-rank Alpha, Yun Lan’s recovery speed was naturally top-tier. Tsk, I’m so jealous of this kid.
As she marveled, Yun Mu reached out to scratch Niunai’s chin. The kitten squinted its eyes, resting its tiny front paws on her fingers and purring contentedly. It was impossibly cute.
She couldn’t resist. She aimed her comms device at the cat and snapped a few photos, uploading them to “Interface”—the interstellar version of Weibo.
Unlike the social media of her old world, the effects here were high-end and 3D. The moment Yun Mu opened her page, she was greeted by a ten-minute-long shower of digital “gifts” and “hearts” from her fans. Gifts could be converted into credits (money), which explained why so many people wanted to be influencers.
Hearing the constant ding-ding-ding of incoming credits, Yun Mu felt a surge of genuine pleasure. Making money while lying down… now that’s the life.
She gave Niunai—the little breadwinner—a few more vigorous pets, purposefully messing up the cat’s perfectly groomed fur. Only after the kitten gave her a resentful look did she pull her hand away, satisfied.
Just then, the front door swung open, followed by Yun Lan’s booming voice.
“Mommy! I’m home!”
She scampered over to Yun Mu, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
“Welcome back. What’s got you so happy?” Yun Mu asked, tapping the girl’s forehead.
“Hehehe! I used the mecha Mommy bought me to spar with my classmates today. I got a three-win streak! I even beat a senior! If we hadn’t run out of time, I would’ve kept going.” Yun Lan rubbed her hands together, grinning.
“You usually make a sour face when I tell you to train, but you’re happy enough now,” Yun Mu teased, lifting Yun Lan’s chin with a finger and giving her a half-smile.
“Ehehe, Mommy’s the best! I’ll listen to everything you say from now on.” Yun Lan grabbed her mother’s hand and acted spoiled for a moment before looking around curiously. “Oh, by the way, when I came home, I noticed the villa next door has people moving in and out. It looks like we’re getting a new neighbor!”
“Someone’s moving in?” Yun Mu noted that Yun Lan was clearly trying to change the subject, but she didn’t push it. Their neighborhood was high-priced and secluded; whoever was moving in was likely wealthy. She just hoped they weren’t too “weird.”
“Mommy, can we go to the Cloud World today?” Yun Lan looked up with puppy-dog eyes.
“What do you want to do there?”
“Um…” Yun Lan rubbed her fingers together shyly. “I want to… I want to ask Sister Youying to teach me how to fight!”
During the chaos yesterday, Yun Lan had been stuck in a crevice and largely ignored by the rogue mechas. She had seen every bit of Youying’s combat prowess while protecting her mother. To a child, Youying was the ultimate idol.
But there was another reason Yun Lan didn’t mention: the pheromones Youying had released felt strangely familiar—almost like the feeling she got from Yun Mu.
It confused her, but she figured that if Youying was that strong, she could protect Mommy.
Yun Mu tapped the girl on the head. She knew the kid was up to something. “We’ll see. Go do your homework first. And don’t forget your training session—you’re behind after yesterday. A child’s primary job is studying.”
“…Fine…” Yun Lan dejectedly bowed her head. When Yun Mu wasn’t looking, she grabbed Niunai and gave the cat a rough rubbing, messing up the fur again before scurrying away in triumph.
(Niunai: Why is everyone bullying the cat?! QAQ)
“That kid is getting naughtier by the day,” Yun Mu chuckled. She reached out and messed up Niunai’s fur one more time.
“MEOW!” The kitten hissed, grabbing Yun Mu’s finger with its tiny, blunt milk teeth. Who’s the naughty one?! It’s you!
Letting the kitten vent for a moment, Yun Mu finally withdrew her saliva-covered finger, wiped it with a tissue, and headed for the dining table.

After lunch, Yun Mu logged into the Cloud World. She opened her eyes and looked around cautiously. Good, no one’s here.
Hmph. ‘I will protect you,’ she said. And now she’s nowhere to be found, Yun Mu huffed inwardly. She turned to walk away, only to stumble back and nearly fall as she ran straight into a pair of long, sturdy legs.
“Are you all right?”
Standing behind her was Youying. Seeing Yun Mu stumble, she quickly scooped the little fox up into her arms, her voice full of concern.
Yun Mu didn’t answer. She just looked “done” with life. Why is it that every time I see this woman, something weird happens? This person was seriously like a ghost!
“Where are we going?” Youying asked softly. Her hand unconsciously stroked the fox’s tail, feeling the exquisite texture. The coldness in her aura faded significantly.
Yun Mu didn’t notice the change in the woman’s mood. She just patted her own head and resigned herself to her fate, curling up in Youying’s arms.
“Fine. Let’s go to the agency.”
