Pregnant with the Empress’s Alpha Heir - Chapter 37 (FINALE)
On the second day of sending their little Alpha to kindergarten, Yu Zhitao received a call from the school teacher.
At first, she was startled, thinking something had happened to her child. Instead, she was informed that her daughter had been bullying others at school.
After hanging up, she temporarily set aside her project at the archaeological institute and drove to the campus.
Near the Imperial Palace stood Huaki Comprehensive Kindergarten, which enrolled children of appropriate age within the district. Naturally, aside from the imperial family, only the most distinguished nobles could reside in such proximity to the palace. Thus, Huaki Comprehensive Kindergarten was often unofficially referred to as the “Royal Affiliated Kindergarten.”
At the start of the September semester, Yu Zhitao had pretended to be reluctant as she dropped off her little princess at the kindergarten, only to turn around with a grin.
Unless you’ve been a parent yourself, it’s hard to imagine just how exhausting an energetic, restless child can be.
The kindergarten staff were thrilled, of course. Having the heir to the empire, possibly the next sovereign among their new students was an honor they rarely encountered.
As Yu Zhitao stepped out of the car at the entrance, she spotted her empress waiting for her.
Since vehicles weren’t allowed inside the kindergarten grounds, the two met up and walked toward the teaching building together.
Along the way, the parents exchanged their thoughts.
Yu Zhitao frowned slightly. “Sigh, I was worried that Xiao Hua’s status might make it hard for her to make friends. You reassured me that kids this young wouldn’t understand such things.”
“And now she’s already gotten into a fight with another child on the first day. What are we going to do?”
Hearing her empress consort’s concerns, Zhen Qianqiu comforted her. “Don’t worry. We don’t even know why she acted out yet.”
Yu Zhitao puffed her cheeks. “No matter the reason, she shouldn’t have resorted to violence!”
With that, she lightly smacked Zhen Qianqiu’s arm. “Did you teach her something strange?”
Yu Zhitao knew for a fact that she had never encouraged Xiao Hua to solve problems with force. Zhen Qianqiu, on the other hand, often took their child to the training grounds, introducing her to weapons and mechs at an early age. Before enrolling Xiao Hua in kindergarten, Yu Zhitao had voiced her concerns, but Zhen Qianqiu had reassured her that their daughter would never be bullied.
Given today’s incident, Yu Zhitao couldn’t help but suspect Zhen Qianqiu’s influence.
Zhen Qianqiu tilted her head thoughtfully before shaking it. “No.”
While she had indeed begun teaching Xiao Hua what an Alpha needed to learn, she had never promoted violence in front of their child.
Yu Zhitao trusted Zhen Qianqiu implicitly. Seeing her deny it only deepened her confusion.
But with so little information, she couldn’t piece together an explanation. She quickened her pace, heading toward the teaching building ahead.
Soon, the two arrived at the teacher’s office.
In the spacious faculty area, two teachers sat with Xiao Hua on a large central sofa.
Everyone seemed in good spirits, one teacher even tried to entertain Xiao Hua with a toy ball, only to be met with a look of disdain.
Yu Zhitao knocked politely on the door before entering with Zhen Qianqiu.
“Sorry we’re late.”
“Mommy! Mama!” Seeing her two mothers, Zhen Xiaohua immediately jumped off the sofa and dashed toward Yu Zhitao, wrapping her arms around her leg.
Yu Zhitao caught her and immediately checked her head and hands after all, it was her own child, and even if she had hit someone, there might still be accidental bumps or scrapes. She was being extra cautious.
After a quick inspection confirmed Zhen Xiaohua was unharmed, Yu Zhitao asked, “Are you okay?”
Zhen Xiaohua shook her head.
Her hair was tied into two little buns, styled by Yu Zhitao that morning. Now, the hairstyle was slightly messy, with one bun higher than the other, swaying adorably as she shook her head so cute it made Yu Zhitao want to pinch them!
Taking the chance to adjust her hair, Yu Zhitao secretly gave one of the buns a gentle squeeze, her heart melting instantly,
Her daughter’s hair was soft and silky, even smoother than she had imagined.
Zhen Xiaohua obediently let her fuss, only stretching out her arms in a spoiled manner once Yu Zhitao was done. “Mommy, carry me.”
Just as Yu Zhitao was about to reach for her, Zhen Xiaohua was intercepted by the Empress standing beside them.
Zhen Qianqiu pulled the little girl to her side and said firmly, “Mommy is tired from work. Stand on your own.”
Normally, Zhen Xiaohua might have whined a bit more, but with the teacher still present in the office, she reluctantly held back her protests.
Now that she had checked on her daughter, Yu Zhitao finally turned her attention to the teacher in the room.
From the teacher’s explanation, she learned that the boy Zhen Xiaohua had hit was the scion of the Huo family, one of the four great noble houses of the capital planet. His name was Huo Lin, and he was also an Alpha, a year older than Zhen Xiaohua and in the middle class.
The incident had occurred during free playtime in the kindergarten’s garden. Huo Lin’s class had been playing near Zhen Xiaohua’s group. A lively boy, Huo Lin had wandered beyond his own class’s designated area into Zhen Xiaohua’s space. Before the teachers noticed, his sudden wails drew their attention only then did they realize Zhen Xiaohua had hit him.
Yu Zhitao smiled politely and asked, “Is there surveillance footage of the incident? I’d like to see it.”
The teacher nodded and pulled up the pre-saved recording, playing it for everyone present.
The footage matched the teacher’s earlier description but provided more details. Huo Lin, being taller than most, stood out the moment he entered Zhen Xiaohua’s play area. After crossing over, he initially didn’t interact with Zhen Xiaohua, instead playing with a small balloon and chatting with other children nearby.
At some point, Zhen Xiaohua, who had been building blocks, seemed to hear something. She put down her toys, walked up to Huo Lin, and pushed him.
The little boy stumbled and fell, pausing in shock before bursting into loud sobs, alerting the teachers.
“That’s how it happened,” the older teacher said, turning off the footage. “Afterward, we tried questioning both children, but Huo Lin was too upset to speak, and the little princess couldn’t explain herself either. That’s why we had to call you in.”
Yu Zhitao nodded. “I’m sorry for the trouble Wei Lan has caused the kindergarten and all the teachers.”
The teacher quickly waved her hands. “No trouble at all! It’s our duty.”
Setting aside their identities as parents of a kindergarten student, Zhen Qianqiu and Yu Zhitao were the Emperor and Empress of the empire. The teacher couldn’t bear to accept Yu Zhitao’s apology.
Yu Zhitao glanced back at Zhen Qianqiu, seeing she had nothing to add, then asked, “Then is that child Huo Lin still at the kindergarten?”
The teacher shook her head: “Huo Lin’s parents came earlier and took him home twenty minutes ago.”
After a pause, she added, “The parents asked me to relay a message to you both, saying this was just children roughhousing. Their child wasn’t actually hurt, he cried purely from fright and they sincerely hope you won’t take it to heart.”
Even though Zhen Xiaohua had struck first, the Huo family dared not pursue the matter due to the Zhen family’s status.
Upon learning who had hit their child, Huo Lin’s parents immediately left with him.
Yu Zhitao understood the situation clearly.
Knowing there was no point in staying longer, she stood up: “Then we’ll take our child home now and have a proper talk with her.”
“Thank you for your trouble today, teachers.”
This was exactly why the teacher had called them in, so she bid them farewell with a wave.
Soon, the imperial family of three boarded their hovercar and returned to the palace.
During the ride, Zhen Qianqiu remained as expressionless as usual, showing no difference from normal. Yu Zhitao tried not to appear too stern, but with worries weighing on her mind, she couldn’t muster much enthusiasm in her speech.
Only Zhen Xiaohua was overjoyed at getting out of school early and seeing her mothers ahead of schedule.
It wasn’t until they returned to their familiar living room that Yu Zhitao sat down with Zhen Xiaohua on the sofa.
Holding her daughter’s hand, she tried to have an objective conversation with the little girl.
“Xiaohua pushed another child today, didn’t you?”
Zhen Xiaohua looked up at this.
The three-and-a-half-year-old was utterly guileless. After understanding her mother’s words, she nodded: “Yes.”
Yu Zhitao wrinkled her nose: “After being pushed, that child fell down and cried very sadly. Did you hear him?”
Zhen Xiaohua nodded again: “I heard.”
“Mommy, he cried so loudly it disturbed many other children.”
Yu Zhitao smiled helplessly: “Do you know why he was crying?”
“Because he fell down,” Zhen Xiaohua spread her hands, “He’s so weak. If it were me, I wouldn’t cry no matter how much it hurt.”
Turning around, she even sought Zhen Qianqiu’s agreement: “Mother, right?! Last time I fell in the training room, I didn’t cry.”
Yu Zhitao’s gaze shot toward Zhen Qianqiu like a sharp sword.
Since when had their Xiaohua fallen in the training room?!
Zhen Qianqiu, realizing her daughter had let slip something she shouldn’t have, averted her eyes guiltily, not daring to meet Yu Zhitao’s gaze.
But she didn’t forget to respond: “Right.”
Zhen Xiaohua then turned back and threw herself into Yu Zhitao’s arms: “Mommy, am I amazing?”
Yu Zhitao stroked her hair: “Yes, Xiaohua is very brave!”
Setting aside the matter of the fall, she refocused on the kindergarten incident.
After gathering her thoughts, she asked, “That child was just standing there quietly. Why did you go and push him down?”
At this, Zhen Xiaohua released Yu Zhitao and scratched her chubby little cheek with one hand.
After thinking for a moment, she answered: “Because he was being not polite to an Omega child.”
Yu Zhitao recalled that in the surveillance footage, the little boy had indeed seemed to say something toward the camera.
Only after he finished speaking did Zhen Xiaohua stand up and take action.
With a hint of confusion, she asked, “Xiaohua, do you remember what he said at the time?”
Zhen Xiaohua wrinkled her nose and repeated, “‘Omegas are all useless! They don’t deserve toy guns! Put it down, or I’ll make you cry!'”
Both Yu Zhitao and Zhen Qianqiu were stunned.
They hadn’t expected the truth of the matter to be like this.
However, this didn’t excuse Xiaohua’s mistake. While the boy’s words were certainly inappropriate, no matter the provocation, Zhen Xiaohua resorting to violence was an even more unacceptable reaction.
After some thought, Zhen Qianqiu finally spoke, “So because he said that, you wanted to hit him?”
“You could have reasoned with him or told the teacher. Why did you choose to push him instead?”
Zhen Xiaohua answered matter-of-factly, “Because it was faster!”
The little princess of the empire lifted her chin proudly. “And he said he’d make an Omega cry, so I wanted to see if he’d cry if I hit him.”
Yu Zhitao covered her face, torn between exasperation and amusement.
Truthfully, before starting kindergarten, Zhen Xiaohua hadn’t had long-term playmates her own age and had never encountered such situations.
Neither of them had imagined she would develop such an attitude.
At this point, Yu Zhitao wasn’t sure how to proceed. But Zhen Qianqiu seemed to have an idea and asked, “Wei Lan, have you seen someone else act the same way using violence to teach a bad person a lesson?”
Children have strong learning abilities and love to imitate.
For Zhen Xiaohua to have this mindset, she must have witnessed similar behavior somewhere.
Sure enough, upon hearing the question, Zhen Xiaohua nodded.
Yu Zhitao pressed eagerly, “Where did you see it?”
Zhen Xiaohua thought for a moment. “I saw it in a movie I watched with Uncle.”
Yu Zhitao froze for a second before gritting her teeth. “Yu! Zhi! Huai!”
She and Zhen Qianqiu were very careful about what they exposed Xiaohua to. If they had been the ones watching such a scene with her, they would have made sure to explain afterward that real life wasn’t like the movies and that personal heroics shouldn’t be copied.
But Yu Zhihuai was different!
It wasn’t hard to guess, he loved action-packed movies full of heroic fights. And after watching them, he probably praised the protagonist’s bravery and coolness right in front of Xiaohua!
Yu Zhitao immediately confirmed, “Do you remember which movie it was? How many movies have you watched with Uncle?”
Zhen Xiaohua, blessed with an incredible memory, recited the title flawlessly. “It was called Interstellar Rescue Plan.”
Zhen Qianqiu added, “That was the weekend you were away on business on Futa Star, and I happened to be busy too.
“Xiaohua was supposed to be with the nanny, but Yu Zhihuai came over and spent the morning playing with her.
“He must have taken her to watch the movie then.”
Yu Zhitao nodded and gently squeezed Zhen Xiaohua’s palm.
Now that she had calmed down, she realized her younger brother hadn’t meant any harm. It was just his personality, he didn’t have experience with children and didn’t know to be more cautious.
As for Zhen Xiaohua imitating violent behavior after just one movie, that was also tied to her own temperament.
In the future, there would undoubtedly be many critical moments in their child’s growth journey. Yu Zhihuai had helped them identify one such moment, and now she and Zhen Qianqiu needed to seize this opportunity to properly guide their daughter back onto the right path.
Understanding this, Yu Zhitao looked into Zhen Xiaohua’s eyes and asked, “Xiaohua, do you know that hitting or pushing others is wrong?”
Xiaohua, being clever, nodded but then asked, “But what if that kid says really mean things? Can’t I hit him then?”
“Ah, how should I put this?” Yu Zhitao pondered. “Everyone makes mistakes. For example, if you accidentally broke someone else’s toy, and that person happened to be taller and stronger than you, and they hit you right away, how would you feel?”
Xiaohua had her own calculations: “When I grow up and can beat him, I’ll hit him back!”
Yu Zhitao’s expression froze.
She had a vague feeling that the conversation had hit a dead end.
Fortunately, at this critical moment, Zhen Qianqiu, her ever-reliable partner, stepped in.
Coolly, she interjected, “What if that person is as strong as your mother?”
The underlying meaning was, what if you could never defeat that person?
In young Xiaohua’s mind, her mother was the pinnacle of human combat prowess. Hearing this, she pouted in frustration. “That’s impossible! No one is as strong as Mother!”
Zhen Qianqiu replied, “Just assume there is.”
Xiaohua thought for a moment, then her eyes suddenly lit up again. “Then if Mother and I team up, we can beat him together!”
Yu Zhitao quickly cupped her face. “No, no!”
She explained, “Fighting leads to injuries. Do you want Mother to get hurt with you?”
This time, Xiaohua was completely bewildered.
Seizing the advantage, Yu Zhitao pressed on, “So you see, hitting others is wrong from the very beginning!”
She pinched Xiaohua’s cheek gently. “If you encounter something wrong, it’s correct to step in and stop it but you must do so safely and in the right way.
“For example, in kindergarten, you can tell that child not to threaten others, or call the teacher over and let the teacher handle it.”
Xiaohua nodded. “Got it.”
Just as Yu Zhitao was about to sigh in relief, Xiaohua asked, “But what if I tell him and he still doesn’t listen, and keeps trying to make the Omega cry?”
Yu Zhitao paused, then answered, “Well, some people have a hard time realizing they’re wrong. That’s why teachers exist!
“When the teacher sees him crossing the line and threatening others, the teacher will take responsibility for correcting him.”
Xiaohua seemed to understand. “Oh!”
Children’s thought processes are wonderfully unpredictable. The next moment, Xiaohua continued questioning, “Mommy, do Omegas really cry easily when hit?”
Unsure where this was coming from, Yu Zhitao instinctively replied, “Uh, it depends on the person. But generally speaking, Omegas are indeed more fragile than Alphas, so you need to be extra careful when interacting with them.”
Xiaohua frowned. “What should I be careful about?”
The roles of questioner and answerer had completely reversed. From this point onward, Xiaohua began branching out with endless “whys.”
Yu Zhitao struggled to maintain a smile while racking her brain for answers to her daughter’s increasingly peculiar questions.
Fortunately, in the end, Zhen Qianqiu wrapped her long arm around the little princess and took her to the training ground, finally putting an end to the empress’s mentally and physically exhausting Q&A session.
Yu Zhitao had no idea what Zhen Qianqiu had done, but by the time the two returned in the evening, Zhen Xiaohua was acting completely normal again.
Yu Zhitao approached her for a talk, making her promise to personally apologize to the child she had hit at kindergarten the next day. Zhen Xiaohua cooperated without hesitation.
This reassured Yu Zhitao that her daughter truly understood her mistake.
With a sigh of relief, the family of three happily enjoyed their dinner together.
That night, after Zhen Xiaohua had gone to bed early, Yu Zhitao recalled the events of the day and decided to video call Yu Zhihuai.
The call connected quickly, and her silly younger brother appeared on the virtual screen with a grin.
“Sis, what’s up? Miss me?”
Yu Zhitao skipped the small talk and recounted the kindergarten incident. To her surprise, Yu Zhihuai’s eyes lit up as he exclaimed, “Wow, our Xiaohua is that strong? She actually took down a male Alpha a year older than her?!
“Hah, that’s my niece for you!”
Yu Zhitao rolled her eyes unceremoniously.
“I was afraid you’d think like this. Xiaohua is still young and can’t fully distinguish right from wrong. Cut down on showing her all that violent stuff from now on!”
Yu Zhihuai protested, “Hey, sis, didn’t you say Xiaohua already realized her mistake? Don’t be mad at her or scold her too harshly.
“Xiaohua is an Alpha, and she really enjoys watching this kind of thing. You can’t just take away her fun.”
Yu Zhitao rubbed her temples in frustration.
Some of what Yu Zhihuai said wasn’t wrong, Zhen Xiaohua did genuinely like these things.
Just then, she noticed Zhen Qianqiu lounging nearby, casually reading a book. Irritated, she huffed, “Hmph, she must’ve inherited it from Ah Jiu.”
The emperor, who had been minding her own business, suddenly found herself unfairly blamed. Caught off guard, she froze for a moment but didn’t dare argue, silently accepting the accusation.
On the video call, Yu Zhihuai couldn’t take it anymore.
He quietly defended his idol, “Sis, look at yourself right now. The emperor is so gentle, who do you think Xiaohua really takes after?”
Before he could finish, Yu Zhitao shot him a glare.
Yu Zhihuai immediately shrank back and shut his mouth.
After exchanging a few more words about Yu Zhihuai’s life at the military academy, Yu Zhitao checked the time and ended the call.
As the room fell quiet, Zhen Qianqiu naturally moved closer, gently massaging her shoulders. “It’s over now. Don’t dwell on it anymore.”
“Mm.” Yu Zhitao nodded. “I know.”
She slipped out of Zhen Qianqiu’s hold and flopped back onto the bed with a tired sigh. “Xiaohua is only three. Suddenly, I feel like the road ahead raising her step by step is going to be such a heavy responsibility.”
Zhen Qianqiu lay down beside her, propping herself up on one elbow. “Don’t overthink it. With me watching over you both, you and Xiaohua will be just fine.”
Comforted, Yu Zhitao turned to look at her and smiled sweetly.
She was actually incredibly pleased with Ah Jiu’s performance today. Gazing at her emperor’s beautiful face, she felt an overwhelming fondness and leaned in to plant a big kiss on the corner of Zhen Qianqiu’s lips.
Not one to miss an opportunity, Zhen Qianqiu soon shifted from her side-lying position, hovering over Yu Zhitao.
She murmured, “Are Alphas just harder to raise?”
Before Yu Zhitao could react, she let out a puzzled, “Hmm?”
Zhen Qianqiu smiled, revealing her fox-like cunning. “So, having another Omega would probably be more obedient. What do you think?”
Yu Zhitao finally understood, her entire body flushing a delicate rose color.
But more than embarrassment, what filled her now was an overwhelming desire for Zhen Qianqiu’s breathtaking beauty.
Adjusting into a comfortable position, Yu Zhitao boldly hooked her fingers into Zhen Qianqiu’s collar.
“Hmm, I think one might not be enough.”
The moment she spoke, she distinctly heard Zhen Qianqiu’s breathing grow heavier.
Feeling as if her entire body had been scorched by flames, the young empress couldn’t resist licking her lower lip. With every breath, she inhaled the peach-scented pheromones of the woman beneath her.
It felt like an invitation no, more like an urgent demand.
Zhen Qianqiu could hold back no longer, slowly lowering her body.
Before indulging, she responded: “However much you want, it’s all yours.”
Unfortunately, Yu Zhitao’s lips were already sealed, unable to answer this question.
The next morning.
Due to last night’s escapades, Yu Zhitao nearly failed to wake up on time!
After hurriedly sending Zhen Xiaohua to kindergarten with Zhen Qianqiu, she returned to her office.
At noon, the teacher sent her a message saying Zhen Xiaohua had brought a gift to apologize to the child from yesterday in person.
Watching the video the teacher sent, Yu Zhitao swelled with pride.
This was their little one who knew how to correct mistakes!
Of course, the teacher also mentioned Huo Lin’s threat to the other Omega child yesterday, but Yu Zhitao didn’t pay much attention to the follow-up.
However, her happiness was short-lived. That afternoon, the kindergarten called again.
“What? Zhen Weilan made another child cry???”
Yu Zhitao exclaimed in disbelief.
The teacher sounded helpless: “Sorry to bother you, but that’s what happened.”
Given Zhen Weilan’s status, the teacher paid extra attention. Plus, Yu Zhitao had specifically requested to be informed of any incidents.
Yu Zhitao was on the verge of tears: “Was it the same child from yesterday?”
She began to wonder if she hadn’t explained things clearly to Xiaohua, causing history to repeat itself.
But the teacher’s answer surprised her.
“No, no, this time it was an Omega child actually, what a coincidence, it was the little girl who was playing with the toy gun yesterday when Huo Lin threatened her.”
Yu Zhitao immediately responded seriously: “Our Weilan would never bully an Omega girl like that!”
In this regard, she had complete confidence in her little princess!
The teacher replied: “Yes, Zhen Weilan is a very good child.
“Um… from what we’ve gathered, it seems the little Omega wanted to play with her, but Weilan remained silent and ignored her, which made the little Omega cry.”
Yu Zhitao took a deep breath: “Alright, I’ll come over to take a look. Thank you for letting me know.”
Having just completed a major project at the archaeology institute, her workload was light. When Yu Zhitao took leave for two consecutive days, her colleagues good-naturedly told her to go handle family matters first.
After hanging up, she went to the kindergarten as she had yesterday and brought Zhen Xiaohua home.
Once home, Yu Zhitao got straight to the point: “Zhen Xiaohua! Do you know why you had to come home early again today?”
Zhen Xiaohua knew exactly why: “I didn’t do anything. She cried on her own.”
Yu Zhitao couldn’t help but laugh.
She said: “Well, when dealing with Omegas let Mommy think you could be a little gentler. If you had smiled or talked to her, maybe she wouldn’t have cried.”
“I don’t want to.” Pillow Xiaohua stood firm on her principles, sticking to her opinion: “Mommy, didn’t you say yesterday that Omegas are usually fragile?
“I don’t want to play with them.”
Yu Zhitao felt awkward.
Unable to come up with a persuasive argument, she deflected with a joke: “Xiaohua, you’ll have a hard time finding a wife in the future like this.”
Pillow Xiaohua looked up: “What’s a wife?”
Yu Zhitao was at a loss for words.
Pillow Qianqiu came over, wrapping an arm around her so she could lean on his shoulder while whispering comfort: “Don’t worry. Look, didn’t I find you?”
Yu Zhitao glanced at Pillow Xiaohua.
The Empire’s Eldest Princess was still pondering the earlier question, her expression slightly dazed. But when it came to looks, she had it nailed down just like Pillow Qianqiu.
No wonder kids in kindergarten cried just to get to play with her.
Looking at it this way perhaps there really was no need to worry about finding a wife.
Yu Zhitao sighed in relief but still muttered unhappily: “But her behavior isn’t great either. She’s scaring all the little Omegas into tears.”
Pillow Qianqiu thought for a moment, then let go of Yu Zhitao and crouched down to meet his daughter’s gaze.
“Mommy is an Omega too. Even if Xiaohua doesn’t want to play with Omegas, she should at least make sure they don’t feel ignored.
“Otherwise, Omegas like Mommy might get upset and cry. You wouldn’t want to see that, would you?”
Using Yu Zhitao as an example made Pillow Xiaohua understand immediately.
She nodded and hugged Yu Zhitao’s leg: “Mhm! Can’t let Mommy cry.”
Hearing such considerate words from her daughter, Yu Zhitao was deeply moved.
But she still had enough sense to realize something was off. She clicked her tongue and looked at Pillow Qianqiu.
“Wait, is this really okay?”
Pillow Qianqiu smiled: “Of course. No one would want to see you sad.”
Yu Zhitao: “…”
Something definitely felt wrong here.
Regardless, after these two incidents, Pillow Xiaohua managed, albeit clumsily to adjust to her first days in kindergarten.
Setting aside her later kindergarten exploits where she became the undisputed leader of the children (basically a tiny tyrant), Yu Zhitao felt that this whole kindergarten experience was actually.
Pretty smooth.
