Pregnant with the Empress’s Alpha Heir - Chapter 29.1
After a pleasant dinner, Yu Zhitao took a shower and sat barefoot on the bed, messaging Gu Yingying.
She had left Academic Star over ten days ago, and during this time, her roommate Gu Yingying had been checking in on her. Before, with no solution in sight, Yu Zhitao had kept her replies brief to avoid worrying Yingying. But now that everything was settled, she could finally talk freely.
[Yu Zhitao: Don’t worry, Yingying. I’ll submit the documents to the school before the deadline and officially enroll.]
[Gu Yingying: That’s great! When do you think you’ll be back? I’ll have the robot air out your bedding.]
Yu Zhitao hesitated for a few seconds.
Just then, Zhen Qianqiu returned after finishing her tasks. Yu Zhitao looked up and asked, “Ah Jiu, when can I go back to Academic Star?”
Zhen Qianqiu recalled the meeting from earlier and replied, “The wedding will be held in ten days. After that, you can leave anytime.”
Yu Zhitao curled her toes slightly.
She still hadn’t fully processed the fact that she was about to marry her Ah Jiu. Every time she heard the word “wedding,” she felt a little dizzy.
After the dizziness passed, she started grinning foolishly.
[Yu Zhitao: Yingying, don’t worry about it. When I return, it’ll probably be the last two days before the deadline.]
Originally, she had already delayed for over ten days. With the wedding taking another ten, she was cutting it extremely close to the one-month deadline.
Gu Yingying’s reply carried a hint of confusion.
[Gu Yingying: That late? By then, you’ll have missed a lot of classes.]
[Yu Zhitao: Because we’re holding a wedding.]
After a pause, she extended an invitation.
[Yu Zhitao: Yingying, my wedding is scheduled for ten days from now. Would you and your brother be free to come to Capital Star for it?]
Gu Yingying was stunned.
[Gu Yingying: Are you two holding a wedding just to settle the document issue?]
[Yu Zhitao: Well… yeah.]
[Gu Yingying: Congrats, Taozi!]
She seemed to be checking her schedule before replying again.
[Gu Yingying: A round trip from Academic Star to Capital Star takes three or four days, plus attending the wedding—that’s about five days total. I can take three days off, but my brother has hospital shifts. He probably can’t make it.]
Zhen Qianqiu walked over just in time to see this message.
She asked, “Is this your friend?”
Yu Zhitao nodded. “My roommate at school.
“She’s been really good to me. When I first found out I was pregnant, Yingying and her brother helped me a lot.”
Zhen Qianqiu nodded in understanding.
Yu Zhitao sighed. “Too bad they might not be able to come. The timing’s too tight.”
Zhen Qianqiu, however, said, “Not necessarily.”
She pointed at the virtual screen. “Tell her to prepare with her brother. In eight days, I’ll arrange for someone to bring them here.
“The whole trip will take about three days. They won’t need to take that much time off.”
Yu Zhitao didn’t have many friends in this world, so the number of people she could invite to the wedding was limited.
Now that she finally had someone she wanted to invite, Zhen Qianqiu would do everything possible to make it happen.
Of course, traveling from Academic Star to Capital Star wasn’t exactly a challenge.
Yu Zhitao’s eyes widened. “Huh? Just three days?”
But she quickly caught on and nodded eagerly. “Okay!”
It was only then that the reality truly sank in—she was about to marry the Empress of the Empire.
Ah Jiu was someone who could casually gift a spaceship with just a wave of her hand!
When Gu Yingying learned that Yu Zhitao would arrange special transportation for her, she was utterly astonished—
This was an interplanetary journey, not some simple car ride!
Only after repeatedly confirming the details did she finally believe the news.
So she replied, finalizing her plans to attend the wedding.
Yu Zhitao was delighted, and the two agreed on a meeting time.
After wrapping up that topic, Gu Yingying started sharing recent campus gossip. Though Yu Zhitao was no longer on Academia Star, she was still fascinated by these stories, and soon, the two were chatting animatedly again.
Just as they were enjoying the conversation, Yu Zhitao’s eyes were suddenly covered from behind.
With only Zhen Qianqiu in the room besides her, she knew exactly who it was.
“Ah Jiu, what are you doing?” She reached up to touch the hands over her eyes. “Let go—I can’t see!”
Zhen Qianqiu’s voice came from behind her. “Shouldn’t you be saying goodnight to her by now?”
Yu Zhitao froze for a moment before struggling.
“It’s barely past nine! Why would we say goodnight this early?”
“Stop messing around—Yingying’s telling me juicy gossip about the campus heartthrob!”
Zhen Qianqiu lowered her head and lightly nipped her ear as punishment.
Her voice was husky, thick with implication. “But I want to go to sleep.”
The words sent shivers down Yu Zhitao’s spine.
But she didn’t dare move.
She felt as if her entire life force was in Zhen Qianqiu’s grasp—one wrong move, and her soul might be devoured.
To make matters worse, her vision was still blocked, leaving her in complete darkness, unable to assess the “battlefield.”
Yu Zhitao could only rely on primal senses to detect Zhen Qianqiu’s presence.
She forced out a weak protest. “Ah Jiu… it’s still early…”
Zhen Qianqiu sighed, her tone almost considerate. “But you can’t miss breakfast again.”
“Huh… what?” Yu Zhitao stiffened, not immediately understanding.
Zhen Qianqiu chuckled softly.
She explained, “The sooner we start… the sooner we can finish.”
By the end of the sentence, even she sounded uncertain.
The scent of Yu Zhitao’s cherry-cream pheromones grew stronger, making her doubt whether they really could finish early.
Yu Zhitao clenched her teeth, but she couldn’t suppress her voice.
She relented. “Fine, then… give me a moment to say goodbye to my friend.”
Zhen Qianqiu lowered her head, as if considering the request.
After a pause, she hummed in agreement and lifted her hand from Yu Zhitao’s eyes.
But before Yu Zhitao could even take a breath, she sensed Zhen Qianqiu’s gaze shifting to her neck.
The other woman’s breath ghosted over her skin, making her tremble.
In that instant, she felt even more helpless than before.
Tears welling in her eyes, Yu Zhitao protested, “You… how am I supposed to talk like this…?”
Zhen Qianqiu’s voice was laced with amusement, but her words were merciless.
“Oh? Do you need my help with that too?”
Yu Zhitao panted, her face flushed. “I-I don’t need your help, but… but you…”
“…At least don’t make it harder for me.”
Zhen Qianqiu gently toyed with her other earlobe.
She began to wonder if Yu Zhitao was soft and warm all over.
This question didn’t need an answer—because she would explore every inch herself.
Zhen Qianqiu smiled. “Causing trouble? I thought… I was pleasing you.”
Yu Zhitao finally realized that reasoning with Zhen Qianqiu at a time like this was impossible.
She could only give up her futile efforts and, with the last shred of her rationality, focus on the virtual screen.
Having received no reply for several minutes, Gu Yingying on the other end was starting to get suspicious.
She sent three or four messages in a row, asking if Yu Zhitao had something come up.
[Gu Yingying: Little Peach, where’d you go? How’d you disappear mid-conversation?]
[Gu Yingying: Haha, should I finish this gossip or not?]
[Gu Yingying: …Hello? Peach, you okay?]
Yu Zhitao struggled to lift her hand and type a reply.
After a moment’s thought, she aimed for brevity.
[Yu Zhitao: Yingying, I’m going to sleep.]
Gu Yingying, clearly still waiting by the screen, was surprised by this message.
She checked the time and replied.
[Gu Yingying: This early?]
[Gu Yingying: Haha, I remember you used to stay up till around 11 in the dorm. Can you even fall asleep at this hour?]
How could she possibly sleep?!
There was a ravenous beast sitting right behind her!
Yu Zhitao scrambled her dwindling brainpower, trying to come up with a decent excuse.
But Zhen Qianqiu seemed determined to oppose her, resting her head on Yu Zhitao’s shoulder now, pressing light kisses along her jawline.
So close that Yu Zhitao felt even her breathing had to be negotiated with Zhen Qianqiu.
But obviously, Zhen Qianqiu had no intention of negotiating.
She wanted to claim every one of Yu Zhitao’s senses—her breath, her heartbeat, everything.
Her fingers hovered over the screen, but Yu Zhitao couldn’t string together a coherent reply.
Finally, she snapped.
“Zhen! Qian! Qiu!”
Turning her head, Yu Zhitao found Zhen Qianqiu’s mischievous lips and, without hesitation, bit down.
She had meant to teach her a lesson, to slow her relentless advance.
But she underestimated Zhen Qianqiu’s persistence.
The bite didn’t gain her any advantage—instead, it gave Zhen Qianqiu the perfect opportunity to escalate.
Zhen Qianqiu had been lingering at her jawline and chin, deliberately avoiding her lips to avoid being too “disruptive.”
But now, Yu Zhitao had delivered herself right to her—no one to blame but herself.
So Zhen Qianqiu took control, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
Yu Zhitao’s teeth, mere paper tigers, surrendered instantly under the tenderness.
Minutes of kissing later, Yu Zhitao had forgotten everything else.
Zhen Qianqiu, ever cunning, had already closed the virtual screen for her, shutting out all irrelevant people and matters beyond the bed curtains.
She leaned down, satisfied to see Yu Zhitao’s gaze fixed on her, spellbound.
“So good,” she murmured in Yu Zhitao’s ear, rewarding her.
Yu Zhitao smiled like a child who’d just been given approval.
Though the comparison wasn’t quite right—Zhen Qianqiu was far more than just candy to her.
Sure enough, the next moment, the devastatingly beautiful Zhen Qianqiu lifted her arms, retying the loose ponytail at the back of her head.
After making thorough preparations, she leaned close to Yu Zhitao’s ear and whispered softly, “I’m starting now.”
In her dazed state, Yu Zhitao realized she really shouldn’t have—her muddled brain actually made her respond with a word.
“Okay.”
She had only herself to blame.
——
Zhen Qianqiu kept her promise.
The next day, Yu Zhitao made it to breakfast.
However, unlike Zhen Qianqiu, who had just returned from the training grounds glowing with vitality, the moment Yu Zhitao’s bottom touched the seat cushion, her sore back nearly made her jump right back up.
Zhen Qianqiu reacted immediately, pulling the cushion from her own chair and personally delivering it.
But clearly, this act of attentiveness didn’t win back her lover’s favor—instead, it earned her another glare.
With the extra cushion, Yu Zhitao managed to sit down after some effort.
While waiting for the food to be served, she opened her phone.
The chat window from last night with Gu Yingying was still there. Fortunately, Gu Yingying hadn’t pressed for details afterward, simply sending a “good night” to end the conversation.
Yu Zhitao secretly sighed in relief.
She came up with a flimsy excuse to explain her behavior from the previous night.
[Yu Zhitao: Yingying, sorry, I was so exhausted last night that I accidentally fell asleep and didn’t reply in time.]
After sending the message, Yu Zhitao finally stopped dwelling on it.
The palace breakfast was lavish, offering a full range of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy flavors.
Warm food had its own power—it did wonders to soothe Yu Zhitao’s physically and emotionally battered state.
After happily finishing breakfast, Zhen Qianqiu accompanied Yu Zhitao to the hospital for a checkup.
Some minor tests had already been conducted by Dr. Lin during previous visits.
This hospital trip was mainly for more comprehensive examinations and to attend a prenatal training course for first-time mothers.
Before the examination, Dr. Lin, as usual, created a personal medical record for Yu Zhitao and began asking routine questions.
Diet and sleep were standard topics, which Yu Zhitao answered smoothly.
But when the questions reached the subject of “intimate relations,” she froze for a long moment.
“This… needs to be answered too?” she confirmed.
She had thought this was a private matter between two people, never imagining she’d have to discuss it with a doctor.
Dr. Lin nodded gently. “Now that you’re pregnant, the frequency of your interactions with Her Majesty is a very important indicator.”
Yu Zhitao shot a glare at Zhen Qianqiu.
Remembering the absurdity of the past two nights, she gritted her teeth and declared with an accusatory tone, “It’s excessive!”
Dr. Lin frowned. “Huh?”
Zhen Qianqiu coughed beside them.
She spoke up, “It’s not excessive. It’s within normal limits.”
Yu Zhitao gave her a pointed look and emphasized, “By my standards, it’s excessive.”
Having spent considerable time in the hospital recently, Zhen Qianqiu had more experience answering such questions than Yu Zhitao.
She patiently explained, “This isn’t a subjective matter—it’s about counting the frequency.
“Last night was only three times. How could that be excessive?”
Yu Zhitao’s face flushed red.
She really didn’t want to argue about this with Zhen Qianqiu, but with a professional doctor present, this might be her best chance to advocate for herself.
Taking a deep breath, she asked, “What about the night before?”
Zhen Qianqiu answered without batting an eye, “About the same. Calculating the weekly frequency, it’s around six or seven times—perfectly normal.”
Yu Zhitao was on the verge of tears. “…Weekly?”
Dr. Lin tactfully interjected, “Let’s proceed with the machine examination first. We’ll check the data—that will give us the most accurate picture.”
Yu Zhi Tao seemed to have found what she was looking for and quickly nodded in agreement.
Following Dr. Lin’s instructions, she took off her shoes and lay down inside a scanning pod.
After about a minute, Dr. Lin informed her she could come out.
While Dr. Lin carefully analyzed the test results, Zhen Qian Qiu walked over to Yu Zhi Tao and helped her put on her shoes.
The shoes weren’t difficult to wear—just slip them on and tie the thin straps.
But Yu Zhi Tao suddenly had a mischievous idea. She playfully wiggled her feet, making it impossible for Zhen Qian Qiu to put them on.
Zhen Qian Qiu wasn’t bothered. She quietly watched her antics for two or three minutes.
Only when Yu Zhi Tao grew tired and stopped moving did Zhen Qian Qiu finally grab her left foot.
Gently pinching her little toe, she teased, “Really don’t want to wear them?”
Realizing she had gone too far, Yu Zhi Tao immediately tried to pull her foot back.
“I—I’ll do it myself.”
Zhen Qian Qiu laughed.
Having had her fun, she stopped fooling around and properly helped Yu Zhi Tao put on her shoes.
The two then dawdled their way back to Dr. Lin.
Whether Dr. Lin genuinely hadn’t noticed their little exchange or was pretending not to, she smiled and said, “Your Majesty, Miss Yu, there’s no need to worry—the test results are excellent.”
